    The hypocrisy is astounding. They are complaining that the government didn't provide enough taxpayer funded services to transport them to a protest against taxpayer funded services.

    If they're all for free enterprise and capitalism, perhaps they should've all taken cabs - the much more expensive private option.

    Why is this at all surprising? They don't know what they're protesting. That's been obvious from day one.

    Photoshopped? Prove it. As someone who works in advertising and uses Photoshop daily, it doesn't look like Photoshop to me.

    Good catch the goverment photoshopers are spreading the false propaganda that Americans are still free to protest.

    We of the TFHS know this to be a lie.

    My deepest condolences and regrets to the staff of The Onion on learning of their redundancy in this manner. Simple professional courtesy would have dictated a discreet phone call and a few minutes to pack up their belongings before introducing their replacement.

    I would also like to take this time to mention how deeply unfair it is that comedy writers spend years honing their craft only to find themselves undercut and displaced by unskilled crazy people willing to generate material for free.

    More proof that these people don't have a clue. Really- they all should have driven themselves or taken cabs. If they don't believe in "government", they should put their money where their mouths are.

    Wow....like I said in the thread title, you just can't make this **** up.

    No amount of talented writers at The Onion or at The Daily Show could come up with something like this.

    Leekohler,

    Look at the CTA in Chicago. Sometimes, you have to complain that a public system is horrible, even if you are anti-government. The CTA is always running broke and looking for more money. It's ridiculous. Last year, they wanted taxpayers of the ENTIRE state of IL to pay for the CTA. I doubt people south of Joliet use the CTA even once a year. Throwing taxpayer money at the problem isn't always the solution. The CTA had a lot of problems on the inside that really needed fixing.

    Some people from South of Joliet don't even know what CTA means. :eek: *raises hand*

    @callmemike20

    Better yet...

    Do you honestly think the metro was prepared to have onslaught of people that weekend? Were the protests announced prior? I heard nothing about them until recently.

    Correct, it does need to be fixed. But guess what? Any public transportation system is funded by state AND federal money. It's always been that way, it's nothing new. And it's not just the CTA, it's for the RTA and Metra as well- which serves a lot more than just the city and burbs. You want to see what happens to this state without those systems? Get rid of the funding. I dare you.
