Ordered whilst downloading Lion on launch afternoon here in the UK, I've just checked and the estimated delivery date is 29th July.
Anyone have anything different? Or am I just being hopeful?

.... patience comes to those who wait!

For London based would be buyers, the Regent street store was well stocked with both i5 and i7's... It seemed that every second customer or more was after an Air this afternoon....:D

On launch day the Southampton store recommended an online order as they didn't know when and what they were getting.
Could try PCWorld in Poole?

Ordered in the launch hour and have shipping confirmation and yet delivery is not until 5th August, but it has to come in through UK before Ireland.

did they have the i7/256G 11" in the stores?

I've got one on those on order eta 29th.

I'll be mighty hacked off if they have the 256G version in the shops, given they said it was online order only!

Had an email today.

We are pleased to inform you that your order has shipped.

Please see the details of the shipment below.

We expect your order to be delivered to your shipping address on or before 28/07/2011.

So there is hope for the impatient!

(Coincidentally the the 28th is the same as my wife's due date for our baby! Like I'm really going to get time to pay with my new toy?)

... a 13" MBA i7 on Friday, July 22nd via Phone from the Apple educational store.

They quoted me a delivery date of August 8th, which is too late as I am travelling on the 6th.

I ended up giong for the 13" MBA i5, which is fine for my needs (e-mail, web browing, pictures, Excel, word processing), but I would have preferred the i7 as I like to be as future-proofed as possible; the i5 is supposed to be with me by the 28th, although I have yet to get a confirmation from them that it has indeed shipped.

However, given the suggested delivery times, I am happy to take the i5 and spend the difference on Office 2011 [I need Excel and 2004 stopped working :-(].

If the local Apple Store has i7s in stock, the guy on the phone at the education store said that I could exchange in-store and pay the difference, which is what I am tempted to do.

It says 29th delivery scheduled, that would be great, let's see if it really arrives on Friday. I will probably reload this page hundreds of times from now on ;-)

mine suddenly had a load of stuff about Korea in it. UPS stupidly report by local time in the hop rather than local time to you.

I think my shipment is in Poland right now, why it goes from Germany to Poland to get to the UK is beyond belief, what is it about logistics companies?

Does this mean my package is still sitting at London Heathrow (LHR)? Anyone know what happens to the package at this point? Does it go to Apple's distribution centre in Leicester or does the courier pick it up directly from Heathrow to ship? My Apple account gives the following status "02 Aug 2011 (Subject to change). In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule".

I wonder if that 29th 'Requested delivery date' is the date for delivery to me or delivery to Apple's distribution centre.

Rankrotten
Jul 27, 2011, 04:43 AM
The 29th will be the requested date to hand it off to the local UK couriers at Apple.

I have just spoken to an apple store rep and even though my Air is sitting in customs at Heathrow they are not expecting to deliver it to me until 2nd August due to the bank holiday weekend in Scotland.

Hmm looks like I have to wait longer. When i ordered a couple nights ago, the estimate delivery time was around the 4th Aug but by adding thr Education 65 voucher its delayed it to 8th Aug. Why can't they just credit my account with 65 - would make like much easier and be friendly on the environment.

I'm generally annoyed with Apple at the moment, though my order is HE.

Placed on the Wednesday launch, originally scheduled for the 2nd August. BTO says it'll take 3 days before shipping out. However, it sat there doing nothing until yesterday (5 working days, not 3) before being prepared for shipment, finally shipping today (6 working days).

The delivery estimate is now the 5th August. It hasn't left China yet.

The only explanation I've possibly had is that my HE AppleCare uplift was "out of stock" and is having to be shipped separately. Yes, a few pieces of paper.

My status now says "Services Completed: Delivered" (on the expo site) since 10am this morning so this means that Apple now has my MBA in their distribution centre. Would it be too much to ask for them to ship it overnight so i can get it tomorrow instead of waiting all weekend?

I still haven't had a tracking number from Apple so have no idea if I need to take a day off work to wait in for the package tomorrow monday or tuesday...

Looks like they arrived at Apple's distribution centre at 11am this morning (10 GMT on the manifest). I'm guessing they are now sitting in that big warehouse in Leicester waiting to be allocated to the final part of the journey. Fingers crossed they can get them booked in this afternoon! :)

I think I can ignore the original order estimate that has not been updated since the start, which says August 17th. The HP Printer that was supposedly holding up the order has already arrived at home today, along with the 65 AppStore card.

That shipped overnight from Leicester with UPS, so there is still some hope it may come for the weekend...

Not usually. Weekend delivery is something you pay extra for. My dad was lucky with his MacBook Pro earlier this year - it arrived in the TNT depot on the friday but was not out for delivery 'til monday, he was able to pick it up from the depot on Friday evening. Could be an option.

I wonder if we are all 13 inch i7 CTO orders?

JimboMac
Jul 28, 2011, 11:51 AM
Mine's a 11" i5. It turned into a CTO, because I made the bad mistake of ordering a USB to Ethernet adapter at the same time  No one told me this would be the case though! and I only found out about the delay a couple of days after ordering. Apparently, because they put the cable in the MBA box, it makes it a CTO.

If I had ordered it without the adapter, it would have been a stock item in the UK. In fact I have ordered another since to ensure I get it ahead of the weekend as I am away for the next week, and need a portable computer. That second one turned up today, 36 hrs after ordering. Haven't opened it yet though, as I still want the other one, that is linked to my 65 card, and 70 printer rebate.

I know if the worse comes to the worse, I can take advantage of the Apple 14 day return period, but I don't really want the hassle of setting a new machine up twice, even if the second one will be quicker in migrating across.

And mine is a 13" 1.8 MBA. I ordered Applecare with mine, which is why I think it's a 'Merge in Transit', currently stating delivery 1st August. My laptop was on the same palette on that Virgin flight.

I ordered mine on release day, and was slightly annoyed to discover that the local Apple store had the upgraded MBA in-stock, despite the website suggesting it was online only.

I've been obsessively waiting for it since ordering as my ageing MBP is on its last legs.... Was hoping it might be sent tonight for delivery tomorrow, but looking less likely now I guess.

Yup 13" i7 here. Foolishly ordered a SuperDrive with it.

So will the couriers pick it up from the Apple distribution centre tomorrow and deliver it directly? Or will the courier take it back to their own local depot for another overnight stay and delivery the next business day?

From past experience, it will be an overnight job which means if it hasn't been passed on to TNT/UPS etc. by now, it will probably get here next week sometime (mon/tues).

Would be glad to be proved incorrect however!

Mine is not an i7, but I'm slightly confused by the Apple Order Status page.

Not yet shipped
Estimated Shipping: within 24 hours
Estimated Delivery: 28 Jul, 2011 - 29 Jul, 2011

Now, delivery is due tomorrow, but it's not yet shipped? 8pm here, I'm not hopeful, but either way I need to know as I have to make plans to be at home. These order tracking things are so annoying for people who aren't at one location all the time :(

Mines been allocated a UPS tracking, and apples store status is saying delivery on the 29th July!!! UPS tacking shows departure at Tamworth, meaning it's winging it's way to Shannon airport as I type, whether it arrives today however I am skeptical but hopeful....

Unlikely, as according to the magical tracking page that people found, my MBA is currently just leaving China on a Virgin plane to London. Won't arrive until tomorrow, add in the customs delay/weekend, then up to Tamworth and back to London...

I'm not expecting it any earlier than the middle of next week.

How annoying. The UPS website originally said my shipment was out on the van for delivery today. About an hour ago, it now says my shipment is in two packages and that the first package is on the vehicle for delivery (superdrive judging by the weight) and the second heavier package is in transit

However, when I click through to the page for the second package, the status says on the delivery van but the scheduled delivery date is by end of play 1st August

From elation to deflation in an hour :(

Mine said the same. In fact Apple gave me one tracking code over the phone this morning but displays another on their website. One says "Out for delivery - Delivered by Monday" the other says "Scanned at destination".

I rang UPS to check what was going on there the nice lady from the Swansea branch rang me back within 10 minutes to tell me the driver had checked and both packages were definitely in my name and on the delivery van - they even told me that they should be here about 4pm - great customer service.

To cut a long story short, it's worth ringing UPS to double check.

One of the first things I did was to hardware calibrate my screen and tried to use my trusty Datacolor Spyder 2 Pro but its software is PowerPC only and requires Rosetta to run which is not included in Mac OS X 10.7. However the hardware was supported in ColorEyes Display Pro and it has resulted in a terrific screen calibration result. Very happy.

How if at all are you guys tracking your orders? Can you see it's progress still, for example, going from country to country on its way into the UK?

I ordered a MBP in March to the UK and you could do this, I think, on the UPS website. Now I am only getting Apple's own tracking service on the which only says 'In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly.'

I seem to remember having a carrier tracking number from the outset last time so you can track the delivery from its origin.

Current delivery est is the 10th of August...:o

Yeah, as soon as it is dispatched, and you get a UPS tracking number (usually a few hours after dispatched, not immediately), you can follow its progress via UPS. You will then find yourself logging in to UPS every 30 mins until it arrives, despite knowing full well it won't arrive for a couple of days, and that checking its status has no bearing on how quickly it will arrive :)

It will sit in customs until that time. :/ Flight VS251 is scheduled to land at around 17:20, in this case, sadly, the wording they use seems to be a bit deceptive. Mine cleared customs at 10:59 on Friday after landing at 16:55 the previous afternoon.
