2011 MBA 13'', 256 GB model.

I have 150.9 GB free memory.

50 GB is taken up by my anime collection.

30 GB is taken up by my music collection.

1 GB is taken up by my pictures (wallpapers) collection.

The rest are apps or operating system.

How much space do you have left?

About 30GB of my 256GB 13" Air.

I use it as my main computer with a 2TB 3.5" external back up drive.

~202 out of ~250GB...

I only keep my books (Uni, Work etc)...

Everything else is stored in a series of external drives which are connected to my iMac which is running Serve To Me...

75.5GB of 120GB

I've been keeping my Air clear of anything that it doesn't 'need' ever since getting an SSD for it, and I've been amazed at the amount of stuff that I don't really feel the need to cart around with me on it any more. Admittedly, I do have a 160GB USB HDD that I bring with me, but that mostly just has development documentation on it. Plus some Doctor Who for when I don't feel like being productive any more ;)

do you leave your SDXC card in all the time? if so any major hit in battery? i just ordered a 64gb one for like $36 so i was gonna move my iphoto and itunes over to it.

Interesting thread, 149 GB free of 256GB. This includes a Win7 VM (Parallels) with office 2010, Project 2010, Visio 2010, and VS 2010. Still need to load PS CS5 and LightRoom. I haven't had much time for photography lately so I'm in no hurry. I did pare down my Dropbox folder a bit from what I have on my MacPro. The limited storage on the MBA has got its benefits, its kept me from installing a bunch of stuff that I can see now I never really use. I'm so impressed with the MBA that I'm thinking of getting rid of my MacPro and using the MBA as my main computer. The only thing holding me back at the moment is the lack of external storage options using TB ( or at least USB3/FW800/eSATA via TB).

There is the LaCie drive that just became available. At $400 for 1TB or $500 for 2TB (plus the $49 cable) it isn't cheap, but it's a RAID0 setup so it offers close to SSD speeds (190MB/s).

i would highly recommend "save as" and saving directly to memory stick

that way if pesky Brother/sister/mom/dad/neighbour/stalker/girlfriend wants to "quickly look something up" when over, there's no concerns about "oh oh, what if he/she/it stumbles into my downloads folder!"

you are my hero, i have never thought of it as a way of helping others. Back to topic, well i have a MBP w/only 250GB space (7200RPM), i've only used up 32GB. I keep it on a diet, well organized, and only keep things I need now. Everything else goes to the backup.

Raid 0
it's a LaCie

External TB's will most likely come at a premium until some one like OWC starts selling enclosures.

~90ish gigs on my 256. Main problem is I don't delete my lossless files before Time Machine backs it up. So I should have about 100gb or so once I back up.

Also losing about 10gb to system restore / ghost files / whatever Windows does with my free space:eek:

I've got the 120GB SSD and have 30 GB for my Windows 7 partition. I don't need much space here because I only have a few programs for school on it right now. So that leaves about 60 GB free on OS X. I have all my iTunes and iPhoto libraries on an external drive that I carry with me.

128 version - 37 gig used (incl 13 gig for an XP virtual disk image and best part of 4 gig for a lion install dmg) leaving 83 gig free.

Got everything on it that I use on a day to day basis, other than Eagle and its libraries that I've still to move over, so Id expect 80 gig free by the end of it.

88GB between my Mac and Boot Camp partitions. It would be a lot higher, but I have about 30GB devoted to two additional virtual machines. I have Snow Leopard Server and Windows 8 Developer Preview installed as VMs in Parallels 7. I don't really need 4 OSes on my setup (I do about 97% of my tasks in Lion), but use Quicken for Windows, and decided since I have the room to try out Windows 8. Snow Leopard Server's another minor experiment, though I might use it to resurrect an old scanner and see if there is any other PowerPC software around with some data that I need to convert.

200GB left, but it's a new machine....I'm pretty tidy coming from a generation when 20mb ( yes MB) was normal on old x86 machines, Ive learned to manage space efficiently.

Projects for further work are transferred to my iMac after copying, and then to NAS storage for archiving purposes.

Over 100GB left on my 128GB. I'm glad I didn't spend extra for the 256GB model. 2000 songs (which I don't have anywhere near) takes up less than 20GB so I don't know what I'm gonna use all that space for. I have an external HDD for HD movies and even then, 5 movies takes up less than 20GB and I wouldn't need to load more than 5 at a time for trips.

I have 55 GB left on 256 GB MacAir 13.
As of this weekend I cannot save Word documents without all sorts of gyrations.
As much as I love the size and weight, it is just not the right computer for me anymore.. Frustrating. What's the point of portability if you have to carry hard drives, etc to have everything you want and need?

I didn't need the more expensive SSD option because I know from white MacBook usage that I'm pretty frugal with space. Most of my data is stored on external storage or on the internet (out in the cloud, if you prefer me to use a trendier term).

Curious how much the pre-installed software and the OS takes on a new MBA? I'm debating pulling the trigger on the $850 base model BB deal.

I'd love to buy an Air, my 13" Pro seems so fat since I saw an Air, even though it's slim and tiny next to the monstrous 3" thick Panasonic Toughbook I fight with at work.

Trouble is, I've used up 715Gb, including 160Gb of lossless music, and 500Gb of video, growing all the time as I rip my DVDs. I think when I've finished, and no longer need an optical drive, I'll get an Air and a NAS, or maybe a Mini under the TV. Too many options, too much expense...

Is that an ssd? The general consensus seems to be ssd's run more efficiently and show less wear if you leave a bit of free space. 5-10% seems to be the suggested amount.

I've 34gb free on my 256 at the moment, but it usually fluctuates between 20 and 30, and I always leave at least 15gb free.

I do all the grunty, storage heavy things like torrenting on my old mbp's 1tb hdd. Looking forward to a time when you can get reasonably priced 512gb+ ssd's. Please no-one link me to a 512gb ssd on NewEgg, there's nothing there that meets my definition of reasonably priced :)

Well then you won't mind if I give a MBAlu+SSD figure.
I went SSD some two years ago, bought a 80 Gig Intel SSD, paid myself sick.
No going back to running system on a 2,5" HDD. The real life speed kick (even a oldtech) SSD gave was generous - to say the least.

Status: less than two gigs free.
15 gigs for parallels partitions
9 gigs of music
7 gigs of iPhone related stuff (iPhoto library + backups)
...

I should prune my Library/printers folder as I can't see myself needing 1,4 gigs of Epson drivers...

Thenagain, I'm soon replacing this machine with a MBA, so maybe I shouldn't waste time on trifling issues.
