i have a macbook pro and i know that once a month you should at least use the battery and let it drain and charge it so its recalibrated but is it ok to leave it plugged in all the time and kept on sleep?

Yes, it's fine. It is your computer after all.

Apple recommends that the MBP battery be cycled a couple of times a week so that is what I do. I also unplug the MBP when it is not being used.

I used to leave my 2008 15" MBP plugged in 24/7. I noticed that the battery life was reduced. So my 13" MBP is getting different treatment...

First, draining your battery isn't the same as calibrating. Also, you don't mention what year/model MBP you have. The built-in batteries in the newer Mac unibody notebooks come pre-calibrated and do not require regular calibration like the removable batteries.

Also, you don't need to drain your battery completely for anything but true calibration (if yours is a model that requires it.) You should, however run on battery for a few hours every few days to keep your battery healthy.

Install iStat Pro to get readings of your battery health and cycle count.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

No real problem leaving it plugged in, I don't even turn mine off, just send it to sleep when not in use.

If you want to extend the life of your battery I would let it have charge cycles, so you should let the battery run down here and there. Keeps it healthy.

I'm on almost 300 cycles 2008 13 alu mb. battery only lasts 30-45min just like my asus did after 3 years of use 😱

What I do with my 2011 15" MBP is run it on the battery until it's between 50-75% battery life then plug it in. According to iStat Pro after 57 cycles my battery health is 100%.
