Seems the 32 nm iPad 2 is getting pretty good battery life, it's much better to the "old" 45 nm iPad 2. ( up to 29% longer battery life )

So now it's basically a choice between an iPad with a lot more battery life or an iPad with a higher resolution screen. Is the retina display worth the worse battery life?

( if I would buy an iPad 2, I would exchange it back until I get a unit with the 32 nm CPU obviously )

The display is everything and the retina is amazing. Once you use it and then look at a iPad 2 it's night and day difference. It's worth the battery consumption and extra charge time imo.

How do you determine if the iPad 2 is with the new chip / battery ?

there's going to be a lot of box opening involved as apple does not indicate on the box if it's a 2,4 ipad. Buy one and if it's not use your return period to take it back, then buy another later. 😉

If its easy for you to have access to a wall plug then I'd go with the iPad 3. If you are on the road a lot and use it extensively then the revised ipad 2 may be a better buy, if resolution is not at th top of your list. For me knowing what I know now I would still be willing to give up 1/3 of battery life to gain better resolution.

I am in market to buy the iPad 2 and this news has grabbed my attention. I want to buy the iPad 2 from amazon. Any way to ensure beforehand that it is with the upgraded processor ? Or may be i should take a chance and wait for a month or so and then buy so the probability that the iPad 2 i buy then will have the newer processor ? 😕

The display on the iPad 3 is quite impressive, but it's ultimately up to you whether that improvement is worth it or not.

After using iPad 3 for a month, one day I went to Apple store, and took a look at the iPad 2, I can't stand the display of the screen already.

I think what they need to do is fix iOS.

Since I downgraded to iOS 5.1, my iPad 1 lasts for about 1 or 2 days on a charge instead of about a week.

15 hours on the ipad 2? damm thats a battery life. i think that the next iphone and ipad will be using this new chip. hope to.

Here's my quandary. The iPad 2.4 has an 11hr battery (want) but does not playback 1080p the iPad 3 does.
