Bought the Booq Vyper (http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=96) for my new 15" PB on some recommendations from this forum. It is pure garbage! It's completely misshapen, is too tight for the PB (especially at the corners, where it's very difficult to work the zipper), and little threads are starting to unravel from the seams.

Any good experiences with Booq out there?

Hmm, when I first saw this I thought it looked great, but I had heard a few slightly shoddy things about it like you mention. It's a shame, because it would be a great sleeve if it worked.

I have never seen a Vyper so badly shaped before, it looks like someone sat on it. I would send it back for an exchange or refund. Those things are semi rigid and should not be like that at all.

Mine works great for me. Had it for almost a year and love it.

Guess it depends on one's personal taste.

Not sure taste has too much to do with it, unless yours looks like mine. ;)

Mine looks just like the picture Bern posted. But I see your point. :D I would be upset, too, if mine was not working the way I wanted.

How long did you have yours? Can you send it back for a refund?

I've had mine for about a week. Wanted to see if it would fix itself after I used it a few times. I can't return it, as I don't live anywhere near to the US, and return postage would cost about the same as the case itself.

Man, that really sucks. If you're looking for something new, I really love my foofbag, but then again the bad always goes in my backpack and doesn't offer the same amount of protection as that case looks like it should.

Would the company seriously make you pay shipping to return the damaged item they sent you? That sounds ridiculous! You should call them up and demand free shipping, and either you money back or a new sleeve. Don't put up with that crap!

Nice. These suit my tastes more than the others I've seen online. Thanks for posting that.

Jesus God, that is one ********* up Vyper. I take mine to school in a crowded backpack every day, and it think it's great. Something definitely happened to yours. Talk to Booq, I'm sure they'd be very obliging.
[EDIT] Whoops, I should have RTFT. That's a real shame. These things seem to be sort of hit or miss, which I thought went out of fashion when the interchangeable parts system came into prominence three centuries ago.

I like mine. Fits perfectly. Methinks you just got screwed :-/

I started using a vyper once my powerbook got dented and I have to replace both the bottom and top assembly. But, unlike yours my vyper is great, and looks just like photo'son booq's site. My guess is something went wrongduring the molding process. Just return and get good one, you won't regret it.

Guess it depends on one's personal taste.I concur. Mine was tight at the corners the first few times I zipped/unzipped it, but now it's just fine. Great case, in my opinion.

Did you get the Booq Vyper XM or M?

The M is made for the 15" Powerbook
http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=96
The XM is made for the 14" iBook.
http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=362

You might be trying to cram the 15" Powerbook into the XM. That would cause the shape and fit problems.

edit:corrected the X to M

Definitely the right one. The PB is widescreen, where the iBook isn't. It's not just a size difference, the shape is completely different so I would know. 15" PB is the M size, btw.

I contacted Booq:

You're right, that looks pretty mis-shapen. There are a few things we can
do.
1) You can take the bag back to where you purchased it, and they can give
you a new one. Then they'll work with us on the defective bag.

2) We can ship you a new bag, free of charge.

This product is clearly not up to our quality standards, we want to make
sure you get the right product in perfect condition. Please let us know
which option you'd prefer.

Booq is being really cool about it. I didn't buy it off of Booqbags.com, I got it from a local distributor over here who charges for delivery, even on refunds.

I think I'll ask them to ship me a new one. Thanks all.

Don't know about Booq, but I am very happy with my IncaseNylon Sleeve (http://www.goincase.com/2004/prod_laptop/prod_lt_sleeveNylon.php) :D

Yikes...I was looking to get one as well. Are there other similarly designed cases out there? I wanted something with a fairly rigid outershell since I'm planning to put it in an unpadded, regular (read: not designed for laptop storage) backpack.

That case looks heat damaged or something. Better send it back if you can.

If all you need is a sleeve, then Waterfield (http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sleevecases.htm) sleeves are great...compact, well-fitting, built to last, and unmatched customer service . I've had one for months and my 12" PB shows not a single scratch or dent.

I don't have a booq sleeve, but I do have the now (possibly) discontinued Boa XS (laptop backpack). I love it. I feel like it is well constructed, sturdy, and purdy. :p

To the OP, I'm glad that it seems like booq is doing you right by sending you a replacement sleeve. Hope that one doesn't have any issues.

I bought an identical Vyper sleeve about 6 months ago after my laptop got squished and bent in my heavy backpack. It has worked better than I could hope for. I do notice that if its empty and I set books or something else heavy on top it will get slightly misshapen. It always goes right back to its old fit as soon as I zip my powerboook back inside. Good luck with you next one, it is nice to see that Booq is trying to help out!

I got my Vyper M today
Mine fits like a loose glove.
The zipper is tight but does not touch the corners of the powerbook.

My take on your predictiment, you are cramming your Powerbook into the Vyper XM, which is slightly smaller.
When they replace your Vyoer, you will see how the M really fits your 15" Powerbook.

For those of you unaware Booq now have the Vyper XXS which is especially made for the 12" Powerbook. I bought one and it certainly does fit my 12" Powerbook like a glove.

I got the 12" booq sleeve.
It wasn't as snug as advertised (room on top or bottom)

I stuck a mousepad in there, and things are snug now.

I really wanted to get one of those but at the time was too much. The reviews pretty much speak for themselves. Maybe in a couple more months, i'll get one.

I posted some pics of my booq viper m in here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=144104) and love it. I use it quite a bit and have never had any problems. I also have my mac-case posted in there, but I like the booq a little better.
