Saw Handel's Messiah at the National Cathedral on Sunday
Andrea Bocelli at the MCI Center Last week
That must have been nice.
Last night, I saw my school's orchestra play Lambro's Miraflores for String Orchestra, which was beautiful, Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major, with a faculty soloist. She was awesome, and so was the orchestra, and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, which was amazing.
On Friday, I'm going to see Wynton Marsalis and the Linoln Center Jazz Orchestra playing Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite. I've heard good things about the piece, so I'm hoping that it will be ****ING AWESOME! :D

Last one I went to was about... 6 years ago. I went my girlfriend at the time, and about 8 of her mates to see some Unicef concert in Manchester. Wheatus played, Idlewild? Catatonia was the only one worth remembering. we had our first kiss to "Dancing in the moonlight" by that big haired guy.
Its sad really. we were going so great but we split up the day after. ho hum! :o
concerts don't interest me. im picky with music. i'll love one track by an artist but hate the rest. unless you can go to see part of a concert these days?

It's been a year since I saw Alter Bridge, Crossfade and Submersed at a small venue called Janus Landing in Southwest Florida. The bands hung out after the show - it was cool. My boys and I talked with Brian Marshall and his wife, and Mark Tremonti signed my teenager's shirt. Great show. It was like seeing a Creed reunion because Brian (ex Creed bass player) was back with Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips - the new lead singer Myles Kennedy totally rocked.

I forgot to mention that I saw Arturo Sandoval back in February. That was ****ing awesome. I've also seen my cousin's band a few times during the year, nothing notable except the last show, which was the final show of another local band, and a soon-to-be-national band was there. Of course, I left after the second band, because I was pissed off.

I stand corrected. HOB it is. :D And the whole crash thing is very sad, seems sort of surreal. I just recently got into Bayside, they are an awesome band.
I also just noticed its sold out, so unless my friend picked me up a ticket (like she said she would), which I kinda doubt, I guess I won't be going. :(

I just saw Kanye West last sunday. He was amaaazing!
As big as a rap fan I am, I know that rap concerts generally, well, suck ass. But Kanye was able to stay away from all those dumb things that rappers do like having a 'posse' on the stage rapping and shouting stuff like 'wheres my dawgs at'.
He was really energetic dancing around the stage and the coolest thing was, he had a live band. It was like an orchestra with strings and everything.
The only bad part of the concert was getting kicked out, but other than that we loved it.

I'm going to see them on April 1st at the Sydney Olympic Stadium. Should be a huge crowd, it's sold out so maybe 70,000 or more. Gonna be epic!!
They were originally only going to play one show at the Sydney Superdome but it sold out in about an hour so they put on another at Telstra Stadium. So pumped!!

*dreamy sigh* I love Franz Ferdinand! I saw them December 2004 and they really do put on a great show... I missed their more recent show around here, though. :(
The recent show was mostly betterf than the one I saw at the Bluebird in June 2004, but Alex Kapranos, the lead singer, seemed REALLY tired this time around, kept using an inhaler. Granted, the elevation here is 5,280 feet, but nonetheless :) No matter - even completey tired he and the rest of them were fantastic.
Oh! I have to amend my original list, or add to it, rather. Went and saw John Cale a while back. He was fine, I'm just not much a fan of the Velvet Underground, and prefer Rufus Wainwright's 'Hallelujah' over his. Still fun, though, to see former junkies and drug addicts all bald and aging and mostly wearing Lou Reed t-shirts with Brooks Brothers slacks.

The weezer/Foo Fighters concert was at the Twin Cities too, on my birthday. But I didn't get to go :( .Oh it was hillarious! The show I went to was the last where both bands would be playing together for this tour... as such, they totally 'messed' with each other.
During one of =w='s last songs (they went on before FF), these six guys in janitorial uniforms went on stage and started dancing behind the band. They ended up stripping  to reveal man thongs and one letter per chest: W-E-E-Z-E-R. They were most definitely 'dancers' and were hired by FF. :D
Then during FF's set, they kept alluding to those dancers with obscene, non-MR, non-family friendly words. :p

Very cool :) Victor Wooten is an amazing bassist. He really is.
Having played violin and listening to alternative/rock, it seems like most electric bass parts are simple and dare I say, easy?
Victor Wooten completely blew me away! At one point, I could not distinguish any of his fingers-- just a blur of color hovering all over the fingerboard. :o :p

They are definitely a decent group, I totally admit that, but I just can't stand how overrated they are, how their music is so overplayed to death, and how full of themselves they are in interviews and the like. They're good, but not that good. Glad you enjoyed the show though! :)

Tough to describe really, I'd say prog house/trance, but mostly on the prog side. The set he played at Ice in Vegas though was pretty driving as well, so it was deceptive. He was mixing it up really well, so it was tough to describe - I guess that's a good thing. ;) There were definitely a few moments when I said to myself, "This is what defines Digweed".

Absolutely - him and Sasha have some of the best mixing skills in the business. I remember back to the Northern Exposure compilations. They used computers to help mix their tracks perfectly for the first album, so it ended up being a true "studio production", and some people criticized them for that. So, for the next album in the series they mixed it all live/manually/whatever you want to call it, and it came out even better. :D
Renaissance is still one of my favorite all-time collections from them, and that's over 10 years old now. Classic.

Are you sure its only 18+? Some concerts I've been to they just mark an X on your hand so the bartenders don't serve you.
Either way, you could probably make the money back selling the ticket outside of the venue. I usually buy an extra ticket or two for concerts, and if I can't get anyone to come with me, I'll sell them outside and make enough to buy some merchandise. It's worked out well for me, the last three shows I've gone to have been sold out, and I've made a profit (not that I'm looking for one).

I'm going to the Death Cab and Franz Ferdinand show on March 31st. It sucks that it isn't in a smaller, more intimate club. But Death Cab has done the club scene for so long, and I can definitely respect that. I guess they're going to tour larger venues now, but I can only hope that they go on another tour in smaller venues. But until then, this show will have to do...
The Panic! At the Disco and Academy is show sold out before I could get tickets (stupid me... I should've known that it would sell out quickly now that they're on MTV). I'm sure Panic will headline another tour (again, hopefully in small venues so they don't become the next FOB), and I'll definitely catch them then. Last time the lead singer wore my friend's blazer because it was a bit chilly outside. Maybe he'll remember us :)

Prodigy and Chemical Bros were only about a half hour each, just due to their style. BT and Tong each did an hour though, comprising the 2-hour Essential Mix, and I found both of their sets solid. Anyways, I saw a "recreation" (sort-of) of Bennie Goodman's 1938 concert at Carnegie Hall. The band was awesome, the lead trumpet player could wail the high stuff like Maynard Furgeson, and the band (http://www.allaboutjazz.com/artists/peplowski.htm) leader (http://www.riverwalk.org/profiles/peplowsk.htm) was great, both in playing and in humor.

Just went to see KanYe West in Hammersmith Apollo London, on Tuesday night....It was phenomenol, he put a superb performance full of energy and flair which lasted for the best part of 2 hours.....
This was by far the best live performance I have ever seen. What was great is that you could see Kanye was getting real joy from the ovation he got, and that he appreciates where he is today....He put his heart and soul into this performance unlike many other artists....
Not only this the quality of music was outstanding with Kanye's hits of both albums and things like bitter sweet symphany by the verve mixed in with A-Ha's take on me....
If any of you ever have a chance to go see Kanye i suggest you get the tickets, its well worth it.....

For heath reasons mostly, I've never been to a concert in my life (I'm 30). But this year I have tickets and hotel reservations to go to Coachella, and I couldn't be more excited about it.
Highlights for me include: Sigur Ros, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Metric, The Go! Everyone plays, on average, for an hour, give or take twenty minutes. Headliners play at least an hour.

Boo! :p ... I'm sure it was a good show, but I refuse to support blatent commercial tours. BEP has lost all of my respect. From where I was I couldn't hear him at all, all I saw was that stupid giant arrow  I'm kind of curious who it was that hit the singer in the face with something (I think it was a ping pong ball) at the end of the show, he deserved a good beating.

Acts that stood out for me, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are amazing live! Karen O is... just... wow. That's all I can say. Yellowcard is also pretty impressive live. Caught the last two songs of Anti-Flag, and they're also good live. I <3 Franz Ferdinand and they did not disappoint. So much fun live. And the Strokes were also really good. They had a theme for their set; played their singles in reverse-chronological order. It was actually quite a lot of fun. Um, AFI headlined and they were really good too, but we left before their set was over to attempt to beat the rush out, that and it was freezing cold out.

Wellll, on July 1st, I went to a small local venue to see Brand New... and it was amazing. The pit was really packed though, so I came home so drenched in sweat that my mother thought I had gone swimming when she put them in the washer the next morning. The two bands that played before Brand New were really good (one was from NY... dunno where the other was from), but I could never get the names of the bands, which was disappointing. Other than that, it was a really good show.
Last night I went to Taking Back Sunday, Angels & Airwaves, Head Automatica, and The Subways at a medium sized venue (seats about 3,500). We originally had pretty bad seats, but we came up with an ingenious plan to get into the pit... and it worked. Suffice it to say that 5 people made it into the pit with only two wristbands. We're good like that. Everybody in the pit got really krunk for TBS. For angels & airwaves, it was more of a chill experience. Either way, it was an amazing concert. I have a couple of videos on my phone, but you can just barely make out what songs TBS is playing (Cute w/o the E, Set Phasers to Stun, Make Damn Sure). Only one picture turned out, though, and it's one of Tom Delonge (A&A lead singer). Here it is:

Wow... I'm very jealous! Muse is awesome. And now that I'm reminded of it, I should probably start wearing earplugs when i go to shows. When I first started, it was way too loud, but my ears have gotten used to the volume levels by now. Either that, or I'm going deaf or something. I'll try to buy some before my next show and see how they work out.

I caught a bit of NoW, they were good. I didn't see Jamie unfortunately, so I don't know if he was doing a Jazz vocal set, or one of his vocal mashup electronica sets :) To be honest, I'm not really into his Jazz vocal sets. He is a phenominal singer and musician, but it's not quite my cup of tea. Still would have liked to have seen a few songs though.
Bands/artists I was impressed with were:
Nizlopi - just a singer/guitarist and a guy playing funky upright bass WHILE beatboxing... he's got some skills that boy :)
Coldcut - not a massive fan usually, but their set was unbelievable.
Fink - hadn't heard of them, but they blew me away.
Heratige Orchestra - again, not really my thing, but their cover of 4hero's Les Fleurs at the end of the festival was magical.

I am so glad that Matt Costa is amazing live, that would have been a huge let down if he/they weren't. :p Performed practically the whole "Songs We Sing" album and a few other singles (like "Lullaby"). Makes me all that much more bummed I missed him the last time he was around... :o
Oh I just saw Matt Costa live a few weeks ago at the Del Mar Racetrack. The concert was free right after the last race and he played for like an hour and a half. The best was when he went into playing the instrumental Anji (original by Simon and Garfunkel).
Good turn out but nothing can compare to seeing him at the CD release in Lou's Records' parking lot back in March with only about 50 people there.

Muse in Montreal, July 31 2006
I must say I was impressed that the songs were faithful to the studio version even if there are only 3 members on stage. For those who know Muse, you know that it sounds like 5+ persons.

I can hardly contain my self about seeing the Flaming Lips tonight.

Sufjan Stevens played wednesday at Lakewood Theatre in Dallas... and I didn't go. I'm terribly bitter about it. It was probably the only chance I had to see him for a looong time.
