Earlier today I plugged my iPod photo 30gb up to my Powerbook to update it. A message pops up saying the computer can't read the disk, and gives me the option to eject it. I ejected, and EVERYTHING got deleted and the ipod was restored to factory settings. I try to put everything back on it and the computer won't even detect the ipod now. I tried everything, resetting, restoring software, other USB port, nothing will make it detect the ipod.

Thankfully its still under warranty for another 1.5 months or so. Any other ideas I can try before taking it to the Apple store tomorrow?

could be a bad hard drive or dock cable- can you still play music on the ipod? Does the ipod have a flashing question mark/ and or folder?

All of my music and pictures were deleted when the first message popped up on my computer.

Well I figured out whats wrong with it.

Settings > About > Capacity: 0 kb Available: 0 kb

Hard drive is dead.

Will they replace it? Or just repair it? Its still under warranty.

So you got a 30GB iPod Vid? Sweet!

I got mine yesterday (but I had to pay for it - upgrade from a perfectly servicable 1Gen Mini - too many songs :) )
