Ok, I was just wondering what everyone's favorite Starbucks drink/favorite coffee drink from some cool independent coffeehouse is. :)
So, I'm sort of a nonfat latte girl myself. Or just black coffee.

I don't really go to Starbucks (the nearest one is like 45 minutes from my place), but I worked at a small coffeehouse in town last summer, and coming away from that, my favorite coffee drink, other than a straight double espresso, is a a Café Breve. It's essentially a latte made with half-and-half. :D

I forgot to add that any sort of flavored coffee, other than adding chocolate, makes me want to vomit.

I made so many hazelnut/almod/vanilla/rasberry/orange/mint flavored coffee drinks last summer...I don't know how people can drink that caustic stew.

At Christmas time the Japanese Starbucks had a Creme Brele (sp?) Latte that was awesome! And just recently the Cinnamon Strussle Latte was really good.

So you're asking us what our favourite Starbucks OR "cool independent coffeehouse" is? That's a huge contrast, no?

Yeah, I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to coffee. And I can be something of a snob about it if I feel like it.

I buy beans from all over the world, only use a burr grinder and typically (19 times out of 20) use a french press to prepare.

If I had the time I'd consider roasting some of my own beans just for the experience.

I had the fortune of making all coffee I drank this summer with a Faema Smart S1, which makes pretty incredible espresso. It was all equal exchange fairly traded, and roasted by a company just down the road from us, and ground with a top-of-the-line infinitely adjustable conical burr grinder. Of course, none of it was mine, but the coffee was free as long as I was on the job. :D

Not a big Starbucks person, but I enjoy the local indie coffeeshop. In the summer I like the mango iced tea, yum yum. In the winter it's the mint hot chocolate if I want something sweet, or a chai bomb (chai with a shot of espresso) if I need the caffeine.

Starbucks is a customer of mine. They're overly aware of the criticisms of "Charbucks" and they find it quite comical.

Their beans are NOT my favorite. But they are NOT burnt. This is their style of roasting and many, many folks (look at the numbers) like the brew.

The really good little illy coffee shop near my office closed so the closest coffee shop to me is now Starbucks unless I want to drink the awful filter stuff in the office.

So my regular Starbucks order is a grande triple skinny latte (triple since their regular shots of espresso really aren't strong enough)

I'm not a big fan of flavoured coffees or syrups. I don't really like 'sweet' drinks. In the summer though, I will go for a tall espresso frappuccino - I only have a tall one since they only put a single espresso shot into the it so if you go bigger, it doesn't taste of espresso enough.

"Grande Skinny Latte with vanilla shot to take away. No, just the drink thanks."

Off to a fine art. Don't even have to think about it. Just open my mouth and out the words pop.

£2.45 here in the UK. Some would say that's ridiculously expensive, but it's a damn sight cheaper than smoking. And besides, with a climate like this you need to have those small pleasures in the morning. It's no surprise Starbucks comes from Seattle with it's English style weather.

Large cap', very boring I know.

I'll sometimes change depending on who's driving the capachino machine as the drink can vary from barrista to barrista.

That said I'm not a coffee snob, I go where I go* 'cause of the staff not the coffee (although it's the best anyway) and I'll more of a stink over the baked goods than coffee.

*EDIT: I'm at least 2½ hours from a Starbucks and wouldn't choose one if were closer anyway.

It's been a while since I've been to Starbucks - I went about a month, 2 months ago, don't remember what I got. Then, about a month ago, I went to the little coffee house downtown, got a caramel macchiato. It was GREAT! Best part is that they ran out of caramel, so next time I go, they owe me double caramel;).

I get a large Caramel Apple Cider. I don't like the funny size names. I can't remember if the tall is a small or medium, etc. And for the above post, Jamba is home to the Berry Lime Sublime - Best. Smoothie. Ever. - and a lot of my money from when I was in undergrad...at least one every day...

The first Starbucks I ever visited was the Union Square store. When my turn in line came, I ordered a small hot chocolate. The guy taking my order called out "tall hot chocolate". Thinking that a "tall" hot chocolate sounded bigger than the "small" that I'd ordered, I reminded him that I wanted a small. He replied, stone-faced: "Tall is small." :D

Dr. Pepper is my primary caffeine delivery solution, but when I do visit a Starbucks with my wife or friends, I usually get a Caramel Macchiato.

Coffee should come in 4 flavors: black, cream, sugar

Amen.

Actually, now that I think about it more, I've only been in 2 Starbucks in my life, and all I've actually had there was a bottled water and a piece of pumpkin bread (which was admittedly good btw).

Looking at their sizes table scared me off buying any drinks though...(small=big, tall=tiny? wtf?)

The stupid names really need to end. There are a few legitimate names, that are actually real coffee drinks outside of Starbucks. "Café Latte" and "cappucino" are okay in my books, but false derivatives that try to sound italian are really dumb.

I too don't particularly like their desserts (although I eat them occasionally, esp. the iced lemon loaf), but I drink their coffee all the time.

My drink?

Iced venti light ice black-eye (20 oz iced coffee w/two shots of espresso). Two packets of Sugar in the Raw. Two packets of Splenda. Small amount of half and half. Hot weather, cold weather, rain, snow, sun. Same drink.

How often do I get it? Three Starbucks in the area start making me one as I walk in. Actually, two do. The other is a drive-through, and they ask me if I'll have my usual drink as soon as they see me on the video monitor.

The Italian words don't bother me. I already say "Mac" instead of "PC", so using snobbish terminology comes naturally. ;)

PS It irks me when people say "expresso" instead of "espresso" when ordering.

My only problem with the terminology is that it isn't Italian...it's faux-talian.

PS It irks me when people say "expresso" instead of "espresso" when ordering.

You have no idea. I pulled over 1500 shots of espresso last summer (yes of course I kept track :p), and every time someone tried to sound sophisticated about their coffee...like asking if we had any chilean or kenyan beans, they ordered 'expresso'.

i usualy get a venti sugar free soy vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso, and my friends always yell at me about my long order :o
if it's really early though, i'll just get a doppio espresso with an extra shot (because they have to be all retarded and pseudo-italian, combined with not having a triple espresso on the menu)

Damn.

The number of things I could order if I went to Italy has just been halved. I thought I could get pasta and coffee. Now? Just pasta.

The fake-Italian doesn't bother me, really. My drink could be called a glooby-bork with a double jin-jin. All I really care about are two things: (1) it has lots of coffee in an easily consumable form, and (2) the staff is attractive.

Yes, (2) is very superficial, and I admit it. But every Starbucks in the area is staffed with hot women. God help me, that shouldn't matter, but it does. If Dunkin Donuts (another local staple, and it outnumbers Starbucks in this area) had similar staff, I'd probably find some way to drink what they try to call coffee.

Dunkin' Donuts coffee is really bad. I'd drink McDonalds coffee over Dunkin' Donuts.

(2) is actually very important. I maintain we built up a solid base of regular coffee buyers last summer because of my dashing good looks.

I actually had the privilege to work with several attractive females, which was probably a bit more of a draw, being that our regulars were men. :-P

DITTO! I get dragged to StarBunks about once a month or so for some impromtu meeting with our sales managers and I'm still confused by the "tall" , like no, just sell me a f**kin cup of black coffee.
