Awww... you do have to admit that the Millenium Falcon Mini is a work of art. :D

Ahem, P.S. "appalled."

I think it looks cool... but don't see the point in it otherwise.

It would look cool if he hadn't destroyed the case and the apple logo actually lit up!

I agree though, the millenium falcon is cool.

The first one is terrible, but... I could see a fan of Star Wars liking the second.

I'm not really a Star Wars fan...more that I was a baby in the 80s and the kid on the block who had a Millenium Falcon (or Skeletor's castle) was automatically cool. :D Not that I, erm, had either. :o I had an X-Wing from a garage sale, though! :D

eh I agree it looks like crud (then again most...not wait...ALL case mods with plexi glass & LEDS do), but no one's asking you to use it

Ugly.
I don't see the point in doing things like that.

Lucky you, I was a teen when the whole Star Wars scene began and I have many great memories. But... Thanks to Lucas and his desire to milk the franchise for everything it's worth plenty of others (generations) will also have fond memories too.

Who shot first? :D

that mini is ugly, it doesn't even look close to an apple logo...

May 6, 2006, 03:12 PM
The idea is there, it was just poorly executed. I think the person was aiming for a PB/MBP lite apple effect. I would of used a frosted plexi with an apple etched into it, rather than cut one out and just have the apple glow.

My favorite mod has to be the fish cube.

iTwitch
May 6, 2006, 03:15 PM
Does the apple logo on a mini glow like the ibook? If not, that would be a cool mod. A soft blue glow, nothing to elobrate.

That is why i want a G4 Cube. I would either have a case or a broken one. If it is broken, i would at least attempt to fix it, but with a case, it would either turn into a fish tank or a cool storage container

Two cases or cubes??? Any chance of selling one???

I am not appauled/appaled (or however you spell it; 'cause I don't know how either) by it, but I don't like it. I like the simple & small look of the mini as it is.

BUT it would be cool to do this...

Well, I am appauled [sic] with your spelling, especially as it ended up in the title of this thread. You should try the Dashboard Dictionary thingy, or turn the spelling checker on in Safari before your post.

Seriously, how many spelling nazis does this forum need? Once one person points it out that should be enough. Anyone who posts about spelling after that is just being ridiculous.

Yes, I too Applaud this creative endeavor. It may not be meticulously well crafted, but it is fun and offers a different aesthetic vision. I like the DIY attitude and the rough aspect of the final product. More graffiti hip than Photographic strict.

I kept thinking one thing: WHY?

I mean, most of them look crap!
Take this for instance:

And this!

From Wikipedia:
"This may be used either to show that an uncommon or archaic usage is reported faithfully (for instance, quoting the U.S. Constitution, "The House of Representatives shall chuse [sic] their Speaker...") or to highlight an error, often for the purpose of ridicule or irony (for instance, "Dan Quayle famously changed a student's spelling to 'potatoe' [sic]")."

OK, I understand it's usage, but what does it mean? Where does it come from? Does it stand for something?

"Sic is a Latin word meaning "thus" or "so."

In folk etymology, "sic" is sometimes thought to be an abbreviation of "same in copy", "spelled incorrectly" or "said in context", to cite but a few erroneous backronyms."

Although not as appalling, you should check this out. A guy installs a 3d party airport card in his ibook, but because of clearance problems he has to remove the "brace" which is actually the heatsink and never replaces it. Although it was only 233mhz, so im sure it doesn't produce that much heat. nevertheless I found it a little funny.

Cons: - the missing parts affect the structure.
Pros: - the missing parts have no real affect on the structure.

Good point, but im sure the ibook now suffers stability problems because of this though.

Ick! Don't like that at all.

The Falcon is quite imaginative though. I like the iSight poking out.

Though I do like the look of the mini as is I have to say.
