They've dropped the 1.83 MacBook Pro too.
Yes, MBP prices are much cheaper too. Base 2.0Ghz model is only £1,399.00

Will they offer a refund for all the people who got a 1.83 for the same price you can get a 2.0 now?????

The White 2.0GHz is €1319 and you can upgrade the HD from 60G to 80G for €50.
The Black 2.0GHz is €1519 - does that mean you're effectively paying €150 for the black case??
Does the Black version have other upgrades?

Has anyone noticed that a glossy screen is now an option on the MBP? Can't remember if that was there before.

The new black macbook starts at 1499 while best white is 1299, only difference aside from color is 60gb vs 80gb. I can't imagine that it is worth it what do others think? I love the black macbook pro though, but won't pay more for it

I am not complaining, only wondering... Have they fixed the issue of scuffs and scratches with these. I want the black, I just don't want it looking like crap in a week.

hmm, you're right. Sweet, glossy screens are great IMO.
The only thing that worries me about the macbook is the material its made of, and whether it's gonna be scratch-o-rama

2 GHz... runs faster than the MBP 1.83!
No more 1.83Ghz 15" MBP.
The lower end MBP just got bumped to 2.0Ghz!

Glossy screens..... damn. Glossy screens suck big ones.
But, I still want one. Maybe the 2.0GHz white model will show less glare on the screen than the black.
I dunno.

About to purchase..but am wondering, is Apple Care really worth it? I have the plan for my iMac Intel. Didn't want to spend too much on my portable - it's mostly for school. Any advice? Thanks!

Don't buy it at first, you can buy it any time within your first year. That way you can decide later!

If it can do desktop/video mirroring, can I take it that it will do so while closed? (Am I right in thinking that the iBook couldn't?)

Thanks! I didn't know I had a year. Off to buy... a white one! Screw the extra $ for the black one. Plus, my iMac is white and I like to color coordinate..

It can span up to 23" Cinema HD Display, full resolution.

I prefer white too.
Blacks shows dust, White shows dirt. Alu is the best choice.

This page,
http://www.apple.com/macbook/accessories.html
comes up as not found (although it's linked to from here:
http://www.apple.com/macbook/frontrow.html). The link relates to cables needed for connecting the MB to a TV.
I guess there must be a few minor bits of kit still to come.

Hope everyone is ready to start moaning about lack of teleport facilities / inclusion of integrated graphics...
I take it back - evidently it can (nearly) do teleportation:
"Next best thing to teleportation
Make short work of long distance when you video chat with friends and family over the Internet using your built-in iSight. Simply launch iChat AV, then click the video icon of a buddy to turn on iSight, and you’re good to go. Without going anywhere at all."

can Aperture run on MacBook?
It's not (yet) listed on the Aperture tech specs page (http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs.html), anyway.
The integrated graphics might be the real problem, and you'd probably need to up the standard memory at least. They have dropped the price on the 15" 2.0GHz MBP so that might be a more realistic option now.

Get this... I called apple to cancel my order yesterday because it was taking so long to ship...
I explained to the agent on the phone that I figured, why not just go pick one up at the apple store? They've got plenty in stock... He promptly offered me the option of cancelling the order, or getting a $60 discount for waiting! Very cool. You can guess which option I chose.
If you call and the agent isn't so generous off the bat, make a little stink and I'm sure they will accomodate. I imagine the agents have been pre-authorized to give discounts...:)
