AARRRGGHHH!!

Yeah, I'm a bit impatient, but from what I see above, my white MB was ready to be picked up by Fedex on the 18th (17th local). How in the world did they miss a pickup date?? Or am I reading the above wrong?

They don't seem all that productive over there, to be missing a full day of shipping. I mean, come on!

I'm as objective as the next guy and trying not to be jaded on the issue, but really, how can a company miss a pickup when it was supposedly ready almost 12 hours in advance? Unless they scanned the code before it was actually ready...

i had a similar problem, so i called fedex. they said that they are upgrading their comptuer systems, and so they were having issues with updating tracking status online. try calling them and press 0 to talk to someone. the website said today my laptop was still in alaska, but on the phone i was deligted to hear that its at my local depot already, and will arive tomorow!!!!

online tracking might not always be accurate or up-to-date so i wouldnt be surprised when it comes early. my ipod came 'early.'

Yeah Ive got the samething going on with my Macbook, according to FedEx its been intransit for the last 1.5-2 days with no change in status. Hopefully it shows up tommorow! Anyone know if Apples free shipping does Saturdays? Prolly not, Im just so optimistic right now. Apple teased me by sending my Nano, Office, and Mighty Mouse early, Im using my Mighty Mouse on a Windows box now, Apple hardware works great, even with Windows!

Interesting. I had the very same thing happen to my MBP. It shipped "yesterday" in China time, so really on Wednesday for us. My tracking history has the same "after cutoff" and "delay beyond our control" messages from China. It also says the package is currently in Alaska as of yesterday at 5:15am. The website says my package is due Tuesday the 27th. If it came today I might seriously wet myself. :)

Mine is comming to Fresno, CA. Where is you're system going? Let's have a race to see who gets it first! Go fed-ex!! I totally thought it was leaving alaska last night because I found a flight from flightcomm that came from China, to Alaska, to Indiana, which is the next stop for our systems. After Indiana, it will goto Oakland, then to Fresno, then to my doorstep...

My estimated date is the 27th. However, my first computer beat it's estimated ship date by 4 days, so I was hoping it would show up today. Guess we are not that lucky.

Take a look at my first laptop. It seriously hauled butt to my location. It was there, in like NO time. It was amazing. check it out above. Anyways, I also have weather issues with getting my first system out of China, which sucks. But anyways, I'd be willing to bet it makes it there by Monday. Take a look at my 2nd laptop's tracking info, and you will see what I mean.

Same story here about the fedex call. My MBP's status said it would arrive the day after it really came in (FedEx said Tuesday, but it arrived Monday morning). My status showed it was in Shanghai for 4 DAYS! I got mad and called them. But, all in all, it will arrive, and you will be happy. Congrats on the Mac!:p

Oh I am not worrying. I have my week twenty 15.4 inch 2.0 MBP with 1 GIG 80 GIG 5400. However, my new laptop, is on the way, supposidly with a revised motherboard which calls for less thermal paste. Also, it's a MBP 15.4 2.16 with 2 gig 100GIG 7200 and the 256 ati x1600 instead of the 128 ati x1600!

So it's an upgrade, that's why I am anxious :) :)

When did yours ship from China? Mine left on the 22nd and still says it will be here Tuesday, the 27th. Kind of sucks for 2 day shipping fees. The last update on the site says it left INDY this morning at 6:25am. Not sure where it's going or whether it's on a truck or plane.

it's probably on a plane... mine went from alaska direct to oakland, which was weird, it totally skipped indy. however, my first MacBook Pro order from apple also had the exact delay beyond our control issue. it really does not last that long and it will be moving soon. where is you're systems final destinaton monkaee? i can determine what plane it's on and what hub it's going to.

my first one went from alaksa to indy to oakland to monterey (i was away at school when it was shipped) but this one got shipped to Fresno, where I was able to negotiate a pickup.

Here's what I found:

Alaska to IND - arrived at 6:25am (confirmed on FedEx.com).
FDX438 - IND to MEM - arrived at 9:43am.
FDX741 - MEM to RIC - arrived at 7:41pm.

I'm hoping my shipment was on those last two planes. FedEx.com doesn't seem to update very often on the weekend.

Yeah, I basically had to guess which flight my laptop was on at one point, and i turned out to be correct. For instance... Once it was scanned in inside China, the next thing I saw was the arrival scan in Oakland. So basically it is pretty lagged. No register of a depature from china, then all at once I got an arrive in alaska, customs, departure, and arrival in oakland.... then the next thing i got was the arrival in Fresno. Things can be screwy with the tracking sometimes.

I bet you're laptop makes it by tomorrow.

I did the same thing, except becuase I am a college student, my first MBP (the one I have posted every single post from), I stayed up all hours of the night waiting for it. So, basically at 7pm my time when it left alaska for indy, I was told by my friend that it was overnighted basically from alaska unless it is a weekend. So, being as I did not believe that, I literally stayed up all night tracking the laptop.

I watched it on flytecomm fly from alaksa to indy, then watched it sit in indy at customs hoping it made the flight to oakland so a drive in monterey could pick it up around 6am my time, get it on a truck by 730 in monterey and too my doorstep by 1030. Well, it happend.

It barley made it. Alaska to Indy 7am departure, arrived at 12pm mytime??? Then through customs... oohh boy this will take awhile... 3am my time rolls around, i see it has left Indy on the way to oakland... I am way stoked! I then decide to take a nap as I am positive it's going to arrive... 6am rolls around and I get up from my nap. I see it has already landed in oakland and is on a truck for monterey! yay! I spent the next four hours waiting in anticitipation, on my PC computers, reading everything about the macbook pro...

then i tracked it around 730 to see that it was in monterey, and on a truck for delievery... my pulse raced as I awaitied the fedex driver. 11am now rolls around, and I am a little upset. They said 10:30... I don't know why they do that to people. Be honest :cool: anyways... 11:14 the fed ex VAN gets there, and walks it to my doorstep. I never signed for a package so fast in my life.

Anyways, that's how excited I was for my first macbook pro... But take into account I had a performa 6400/200mhz when i was in the 4th grade. when i turned 11 i installed debian and slackware on two seperate systems i had. even since then i became a bsd/unix/linux guru and have loved it. When OS X went to a BSD KERNEL, i freaked out. Basically, it was three years of waiting for the laptop, then the chance for me to get one came, and I have never been more excited in my life. It was perfect. I had my last final Wednseday, the laptop came Friday. I had about 10 days (straight) to spend on the system... I know, it's terrible.

well 1 gig from apple, two gig's waiting for it when it arrives.

Just like my friends. It did not make it through customs, my friend. Expect a little more delay :mad: Hate to break it to you, but it could be 2-3 days before it leaves there. It took my friends laptop 4 days to clear customs because of his "clearance delay" . but I wish you the best of luck...

Monkaee.. I did the same thing, well, I orderd the 2.16 now with 1 gig (2x512) and the 100 gig 7200 RPM, then purchased two 1 gig chips aftermarket.

Im thinking mine might come tommorow as well. Its in Los Angeles right now, but if it follows anything like my Nano it will move early in the morning to my local fedex facility and then be delivered around 10, before I wake up!

My MB is the 2ghz white, 1gb ram, 80gb hd. So its upgraded somewhat, but not a ton from stock, the ram hopefully will help alot. Ive also got the Student Edition of Office 2004 sitting here, and my mighty mouse and apple keyboard plugged into my windows box, cant wait to get it in its natural habitat.

Wow...

Apple screwd up my first order I think, and sent me a glossy display on my original system. After I booted up the new laptop and formated, I noticed the color difference. The glossy screen gives you such a false sense of color, IMO. It's nice and all, but if you are going to be working with images at all, matte is the way to go. That is so weird. I have seen the glossy display on the MacBooks, but it's NOTHING like the MBP. The MBP is so suttle you barley even notice it. Let's put it this way, I thought it was a matte diplay... For 32 days untill my replacement came

at the same time, based on what I saw on the macbooks, i did not like the glossy display. I am starting to like it as I sit here on bolth of my 15.4 inch MBP's. On one hand, it looks sick, on the other, it's just giving me a false sense of color... Which it's basically fooling my eyes. Any other opinions ?

I really like the matte screen. I almost regretted not getting the glossy screen. However I really do like it, very bright, good (i.e., real) colors, etc. I just swapped the hard drive and I'm having a few issues getting all of the "lines" of the laptop to line back up properly. Once I get OS X installed I'll continue to work on it and probably have to open it back up. :(
