I have a Dlink router and no matter how I change the password (using wep) I cannot get it to accept the password (says its invalid) however I know its right because my Pcs connect to the network. I have heard about putting a $ in front of the password fixing it. Is this true? The only way I can get wireless to work is if I unsecure the network but I dont like that. Anything is better than nothing in my opinion. At the moment I'm using an ethernet cord for my mac mini but when I get my MBP im going to need to use wireless. Any advice?

Have you tried all of the Mac's WEP options (WEP/WEP hex/WEP ASCII)? Sometimes Apple's labels for the scheme differ from those of the router manufacturer.
Edit: here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=2154722&postcount=51) is how I got it to work on a Linksys - your system may be similar.

Yep I tried it I'm just really reluctant to fiddle with the router I've already messed things up once before. I'm kind of looking for an easy solution if possible :D (That doesnt involve unsecuring the network)

I'm not sure if you noticed my edit, but I did get it to work on a Linksys by trying a few different settings. You might not need to change anything on the router at all.

Cool I'll give it a try when the MBP arrives. Anyone have any other alternatives to try while I'm there? :D
