Odd Spotlight problem 10.4.4

Spotlight seems to be acting odd. When I try to open Spotlight, it just highligts the icon. No search box. I have repaired permissions, and repaired disk, relaunched finder. One thing to note: After a fresh start up, it works fine. For about 2 tries. Then it doesn't.


Also: I am using 10.4.4 because 10.4.8 screwed with my system.

Looks like (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=243683) you and Sweener88 are having the same problem today.

Corrupted preference file, perhaps?
