Spotlight not working?

Im haveing a wierd problem, whenever i click the spotlight icon a blue square goes around it but no search box pops down......is there some wierd way iv disabled it?

when you click the button, try typing something and press enter.

try logging out and logging back in. that generally works for me when spotlight or anything else stops working

Maybe post a screenshot of what you're getting instead of Spotlight. 🙂

I am now getting exactly the same thing!

If I do commmand-space the blue square around the icon appears with a slight shadow on the far left of the screen under the blue apple. If I type anything nothing happens. If I do option-command-space the spotlight window appears and works fine. What is going on?

Do you have any third party items in the Menu Bar? Press COMMAND-SHIFT-3 to take a screenshot because that might help us. 🙂

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I restarted and it works fine now.

I've fixed it by changing my screen resolution and then put it back to normal again.
