I don't think the PS3 looks that great. The Wii looks wonderful, though. I think I want one, but I probably wouldn't spend much money on it. But maybe in a few (5+) years, I'll get one from eBay for much less money.

^^^^^No, lol. I used to have a PS2, but I ended up selling it after I beat Metal Gear Solid 3. After that, there really weren't any games that interested me, and so I used the money I got to fund the PSP purchase. I also had a GCN until about three weeks ago, as GameStop was offering $50 for it. Since the Wii plays all GCN games, I figured I'd go ahead and let that go.

The N64 was my first system. And I really didn't get "into" games until the Dreamcast's release in '99. So, I don't have all those memories of "old-skool" gaming, heh. But yeah, I can usually find time to play games and catch up in those that I'm behind in. However, I've worked up quite a backlog in the last few weeks. Luckily, with the holidays coming up, I should find time to play.

The controls are terrible, the graphics aren't even up to first-gen Gamecube standards, and the cutscenes are weak. However, I really want a FPS to show off the Wiimote with. Sucks you can't find the NunChuck, there were SO many when I bought mine(I was 12th in line so I'm sure that helped)

As for Red Steel vs Call of Duty 3, well I'm a fan of Red Steel I've gotten the hand of the controls and I love it. COD 3 I think does a good job for game play, but for graphic its similar to COD2, maybe a little better. I like COD 3 all around, but then again I like Red Steel so you might not like COD 3 anymore then Red Steel

Well PS2 came out in 2000, replaced in 2006,GameCube came out in 2001, Wii came out in 2006 so 5 years give or take a year.


And even when its replaced it can still be used, and most likely will be supported for a good year after it was "replaced" xBox is still getting a few games, and 360 been out for a year.

I had a Gamecube, as you can tell from all my controllers, accessories, and games. However, I sold it a while back after knowing that not only is the Wii 100% Backwards compatible with the Gamecube, it also has four GC controller ports and 2 GC memory card slots built into the side flap.

I used to use my roommates GC and held off from buying one myself cause of the Wii's backwards compatibility. We each had our own GC controllers to play 4 player games.

Believe me... that forum will help you so much. Keep an eye on the sighting threads. The latest word is this Sunday is another campout day, so that may be your last best chance before the holidays. Depending on your area, you may want to arrive at least a few hours early. I waited in line for five hours (well worth it, trust me) and was number 15 out of 30 (supposedly).

I picked up a Wii on Tuesday and absolutely love it -- so much so, that it actually motivated me spend the weekend finishing up the "home theater" project I've been working on for the past 6 months or so. There's still a couple things left to do -- a couple more pieces of A/V equipment coming in this week, and some movie posters will be put up on the blank white wall, but... here's my new Wii setup. :) (I'll be putting the Wii in the equipment cabinet as soon as my wireless sensor bar comes in -- the cord on the normal one is too short.)

It's a front-projection system -- the "screen" is painted on the wall and I added a border, so it only cost $25 or so.

I did have a friend whack the projector the first time he played Tennis on Wii Sports :eek: but luckily it didn't get damaged. Now me make sure to play a bit closer to the screen -- making sure the projector isn't directly overhead ;)

The top 4 games in the picture are my favorites by far but the bottom 3 are my brothers. ELEBITS- kind of amusing you have to shoot these little elebits with a laser thats pretty much it so i liked it but its not worth 50$. REDSTEEL- my first impressions playing redsteel were this is kind of like call of duty except not as cool but it is multiplayer so thats a plus also i did not get to use the sword.

so besides for that they were suprisigly worth the money

Hey Zap, how do you like COD3 on the Wii? I picked up Red Steel, and it's total crap. The controls are terrible, the graphics aren't even up to first-gen Gamecube standards, and the cutscenes are weak. However, I really want a FPS to show off the Wiimote with. Would you reccomend COD3? How does it control? Have you had a chance to play Red Steel so you could compare the two?

I know the question wasnt directed at me but COD3 graphics are alot better than redsteels and the controls for COD3 are similar to redsteel just done right. So if i were you i would get rid of redsteel and get COD3.

I don't have a Classic Controller, but its purpose is mainly to play Virtual Console games. It's almost the exact same layout as the old SNES controller with a few extra buttons added so you can use it for N64 games as well. You can use a Gamecube controller for Virtual Console games, so if you have one of those, you might just want to use that instead of buying a Classic Controller.

As far as regular Wii games go, no. You'll be able to play every Wii game with the Remote/Nunchuck combo that came with your Wii. Here's a quick compatability chart that might help you out:

We actually got the Wii because it's "the non-gamer's gaming system" (ie: not the best graphics, not HD, cheaper, more interactive so it appeals to those not totally comfortable with a controller, etc). we'll probably end up getting Zelda eventually just to have it, but it's not high on our list of priorities..

I dont understand the concept of a Wii.
Isnt the point of a video game to sit on the couch, using only your thumbs, to control an entire person's fate?

Then again, if I had a setup as nice as some of these, I probably wouldnt be saying this.
