I have tried to update my Parallels Desktop Build 1970 to the new 3036 Beta. Once it is updated, it says it is not activated when my previous version was. Why is it doing this?

When I updated (later downgraded) the process worked for me. I know, you don't want to hear that. Did you uninstall build 1970 first? I simply installed over top of it. Short of trying to re-activate it with your code, check the forums at the Parallels site. Also, they tend to use I's and 1's and O's and 0's in their keys, and they don't always display properly. Cut and paste if you can.

i had to reactivate as well. also did any of you have the problem that it says "boot camp disc can not be read" or something along those lines?

if so, any way around this?

I don't use bootcamp, but I did have major stability problems trying to install a win2k setup, ergo the reason that I backed off to the 1970 build. It worked fine there. Keeping in mind that this is beta software, and the first release to the public, I'm not upset about it, and I didn't use it on a production system either. I know they'll get things working and I'll test it again then.

Is it Parallels that you are having problems with the activation, or your copy of Windows? Answering questions correctly is sometimes hard with phrases like "it is .., it says it...". Be more precise so we don't have to guess.

Did you download the parallels tools executable that needs to be installed into your bootcamp XP drive ?

Otherwise it wont work.
