I'm sure there's endorsements and other forms of advertising. If you watch Diggnation (the video pod cast), they have sponsors each week like Godaddy and Webex.

I assumed those were just for production costs and bandwidth. Also isn't the podcast revision3 not digg?

The podcast is a product of Rev3, yes, but it's about the top stories from digg.com throughout the week. Hence the name DIGGnation. ;)
