hi, i've had my macbook pro for a while now, but still don't have a case for it. The only suitable cases i've seen are just boring black. I want something that looks slightly more stylish and isn't too bulky. Anyone have any ideas where i can get one?

Personally I like the plain jane black case/bag what ever.

But check this out. here (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10073741&catid=10104#)

Bag or sleeve? Crumpler make cool bags and Foofshop.com make sleeves that sure aren't boring. Then again, the Booq sleeves are black but pretty damn stylish...

Here is what I'm seriously considering right now.

http://www.acmemade.com/theslim.html

A bit on the pricey side, but the reviews I have read say they are excellent. What do you think?

incase bags/sleeves are pretty nice, you can find them on Apple's store website

I really like my Incase I bought from the Apple Store.

I got a thin satchel type in Orange. It has a ultra soft microfiber type lined interior and a few small pockets. I can take my MBP, AC Charger, Remote, & Thumbdrive all at once in a very thin package.

the acme Clyde looks even better, albeit pricier.

I just picked up an STM Evolution bag (http://www.stmbags.com.au/smallevolution). Quite nice, and have used their bags for years without any problems. I have a 'Small Loop' that's been around the world with me three times (carrying an IBM Thinkpad X40). Can get them at Radtech (http://www.radtech.us/) if you're in the US.

I just picked up one of these: http://www.mac-case.com/Leather%20Site/Big%20Pictures%20Pages/Sleeves/MacCase%20PL%20SleeveBK.html

I am very satisfied with the quality of it. And it looks amazing.

I bought the brenthaven bag which is nice, but not totally aesthetically appealing. I have heard quite a few about the Timbuk2's. http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/retail/catalog.htm?categoryId=85 Those seem pretty good. Don't worry about if it says powerbook 15" my friend has one of them and says his macbook pro works. I don't know since mine hasn't arrived yet. It's sitting in the distribution center waiting for me. YAY! :)

if you want something not simply like a black executive, you should look at crumpler bags. some people on this forum swear by them and their site is DEFINITELY anything but boring black.

You can not go wrong with the Jack Spade Laptop bag. It is stylish and very low profile. It fits my C2D Black book and charger just fine, plus it does not scream I have a laptop.

I have a Timbuk2 Commute (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/retail/catalog.htm?categoryId=85&skusetId=29) and think it is an outstanding bag. Have had Tom Bihn and Outland, and like this one the best. Good size, room for some extra stuff, but not too huge. Built-in sleeve, lots of pockets to organize all ur stuff.

No slight intended, just making note that the macbook/mbp bag threads are kind of numerous, so you might find even more help searching for previous threads on the subject. I found some here (http://forums.macrumors.com/search.php?searchid=4938525) with the forum search and here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=macbook+pro+bag+case+site%3Aforums.macrumors.com&meta=) using MRoogle (http://mroogle.yo-momma.net/). :)

I bought one of these for my Macbook and am really pleased with it. Depends what you want, I liked its simple stylishness and doesn't look too slickery dickery. This is for their macbook pro range:

Wow, I am glad I did not mention I also use a Y-3 Messenger bag for the BlackBook. That one is pricier, and much harder to find. I use a Timbuk2 for my work laptop, and Crumpler for my camera bags. But sometimes, you have to treat yourself and your Mac good.

I have been considering this bag. Do you know how it compares to the STM Alley?
Also, where did you get it that cheap? The best price I've seen is $54 delivered.

I'm after a crumpler school hymn case for a macbook pro (my mate has one for his 12inch iBook and swears by them). Can't seem to find them on any UK sites though. however here are a lot of 15 inch ones, but descibe themselves for the powerbook. Looking at the dimensions i don't think those cases will fit a macbook pro. Any ideas where I can get one from? If not, any american sites that ship to the UK pretty cheaply?

Cheers

Really like the look of the huzzk case. How do they perform? I just want somethin that protects the macbook pro really well and doesn't make it that much bigger. I've found the huzzk on ebay, anywhere else sell them? (couldn't find an add to basket or price on that official site)

is that rubber?

00hkelly
Jan 11, 2007, 01:26 PM
its got a good rubber outside with the tyre texture wich looks VERY good in the flesh, the inside is neoprene/wetsuit material the zips are as good as any crumpler bag i have and around them is a good sturdy fabric. the bag is made very well and seems sturdy and good quality. i just have this bag inside my crumpler messenger bag with all my other stuff. in each corner on the inside is a diagonal piece of elastic which allows you to keep the bag attached to the laptop if you want to use the lappy on your knees for example and dont want the case flying everywhere. the zip covers 3 sides but doesnt go right to the edge of the 4th, i think this is for ventilation when you are using it with the mbp in it as it leavs a slight gap for the fans. soz no pics as am busy.
you can get them on ebay or go tohttp://www.itoyzstore.com

I bought the super neato Swiss Army backpack at my nearest Apple store, so that I could ride around on my bicycle and take my laptop with me. I can't recall specifics on the price but I think it was at least $60 or $70 -- but it's worth it for a good build quality in the bag. I've run through so many crappy, el cheapo backpacks that end up with broken zippers, that I got tired of it. It's something I don't use just solely for toting my laptop, but for books, my SLR camera, et cetera.

Hi there. When I was searching for a case, I came across these. http://www.zattache.com/styles.htm
Ebags.com used to sell them, but they don't seem to carry them anymore. They're very nice looking though. Good luck!

I bought a toffee sleeve (www.toffeebags.com) its really great because i have another bag to put it in- but it doesn't have a handle or anything like that. Looks nice and protects the computer though. There was a review of them here (http://www.macgeekery.com/opinion/articles/reviews/tasty_toffee)- quite happy with it.

Thanks

The zeroshock III from elecom. It's thin and sleek and offers great protection. Plus it comes in flavors of white and black so you can match with your macbook if you like. I got mine for about $35 shipped

Love this Incase bag. It functions as a bag and as a sleeve. The strap is removable so you can toss this bag inside of another. The interior of the bag itself is a very soft material to help against scratches.

i second that, your first concern should be protection (not style) unfortunately, it seems it's difficult to get both. so there are maybe a lot of cool bags out there but will they really protect your laptop?

i saw someone suggested a jack spade. just beware that some JSs are really heavy so it's not fun to put a MBP and some books in 'em.

I've gone through two of those Huzzk Sleevie GT cases, both of them had both zippers broken off within two weeks of use. Even while I always have the zippers up when I put it in my bag. So in my opinion they are a waste of money. The inside of them is nice though
