After looking at the Past and Present Mac setup forum, I thought it would be cool to post your setup of your video editing setup. I'm currently not at home so I will post mine tomorrow!

I remember making a thread called "Post your Final Cut Pro setups" or something like that and got totally rejected.

One user pointed it out the best "A professional editor probably doesn't have the time to photograph their setup and post it on a Mac Forum.

Sad but true.

Wow, that 20" Cinema display looks really small when compared to the 24" iMac. Nice setup.

Well for me this is an upgrade to my 17 inch g4 powerbook so it's substantially faster in all respects for me and I'm quite happy with render times. I encode web videos very fast and DVD encoding is about 4 times faster than my powerbook, CD/DVD burning is about the same.

I only paid $250 for the 20" ACD, so it matches well enough for me. You can see by the way I use it that the size difference does not really matter. the 20" fits well on top of my DVCAM deck. I have 4 Lacie drives totaling 1.5 TB

Sidenote, clients are really impressed by dual displays. They are amazed when I magically drag an item from one display to the other. :P

What made you choose the iMac over a Mac Pro, or did you ever think about a Mac Pro?

I plan on upgrading to a Mac Pro on the next year, I didn't purchase one because one of my business partners gets a lot of apple products through an iTunes deal he has with them and he is going to get the Mac Pro for me at no cost. I didn't want to wait for that so I bought the iMac to use for now and when I get the Mac Pro I'll just use the iMac at home.

i was debating getting the iMac because of price...but to upgrade to a Mac Pro w/ decent RAM etc was not much more expensive....i thought to myself, if I'm really gonna invest nearly 3k on a setup, it might as well be one I can use for a long enough time...
at least long enough to pay it off :p
