Transfering files from PC to new MBP

What ways can I transfer files from my old PC to my new MBP? I cant believe that they do not include a firewire cable with a new MBP
 
If you have personal file sharing configured properly on both machines, you can use an ethernet cable to connect the two. Depending on your PC hardware, you may be able to get up to 1 Gbps.
 
However - if the PC has a DVD burner, although it is more time consuming, I feel the best way is to burn DVDs of the data... because then you have a backup.

I transferred data from a dying PC to a Mac for a customer, using DVDs. Three days after doing the transfer, the Mac hard drive unexpectedly failed. The PC had also failed. But the DVDs saved their bacon.
 
ok, so i just connected the two via firewire, and the pc's files do not show up on my mbp...nothing shows....any suggestions?

Doesn't work that way with FW. You can reboot the Mac in Target Disk Mode, but I don't know how that works with PCs. A network cable is a different story and should just work in Network.
