Well, that's british currency. It's not $839.
In American that would be somewhere around $1250
British pound I think worth atleast 25-35% more than US Dollar.

Too bad italy switched to the Euro, the Lira was trading at about 2500 to the dollar for its last few years...an iBook would set you back over a million!

Yep. Just checked.
Today Pound Sterling trades 1 for 1.596100 USD.
SO, 1.6 is correct.
Which means you 839 Pound Sterling computer would end up costing you around $1342

Oops, sorry guys. I went to the http://www.bank-banque-canada.ca/en/exchform.htm website and converted from Canadian to UK pounds. It looked strange to me at first, too.

So did I, but I didn't find it "unbelievable" since the US dollar has been dropping in relation to many other currencies.
The Canadian dollar to British Pound exchange rate was £1 = $2.55 Canadian dollars. Now its at £1 = $2.22 Cdn. I guess what I said was just too unbelievable.
