Time to upgrade to Airport Extreme N ?

I have Apple TV and i stream the content from my computer.

Was ok , but is getting slow and slow.. take sometime to load movies, when i foward takes more time.. after i did the upgrade to my imac c2d support N became slow ( i dont thin is because of that )

so upgrading from airportextreme to the new airport base will make this disspear ? i mean will be faster the streaming ? and one more question i would like to conect to airport my external HD , thats only possible with the new airport right ? i want to be able to play content from my HD on apple tv, dont know if thats possible.
 
yes only possible connecting the external HD via usb.

uumm how do u currently go to ur appletv??? wireless or wired?? if you want best results direct conenction is ur best option. i.e. what u want to do usb straight into apple tv.
to save urself if possible id suggest maybe using ethernet, it only just scores higher than wireless n but not by much
