Hey guys,

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum but I figured a guitar pedal is as much a peripheral as a keyboard or a mouse.

So, I have a TC Electronic VPD1 which has a simiulated speaker out. Would it be safe enough to connect this to the line in on my iMac? I don't want to overload the built in amp on the iMac.

Thanks!

I should be fine. I've run other pedals and stuff into my computers and never had a problem. I record with Audacity, and it has a volume control, so if the input volume is too much, I can lower it.

Just don't run the output of a guitar amp into your imac 🙂 Line level signals, which is what this seems like, should be fine.

it looks like you'll be fine as it's meant to be used as a direct box.

according to the manual the simulated speaker is only for the "sound" and does not simulate the power level of a speaker out, which if it did WOULD indeed fry your audio input.

This guy did just that.
