Are there any Iphone cases out there that also doubles as a wallet? I plan to take my iphone everywhere just like my wallet but i want to reduce the bulk by having the case serve a double function. Does anyone know?

I don't think I've actually seen a wallet that combos as a cellphone case. I've seen planner like books that you can store business cards and memos in. those sometimes have pockets for a PDA or cellphone but those are really much bigger than a wallet.

Would be kind of interesting to see that though. Although I would hope it's not the wallet type that goes in your back pocket. I wouldn't want to sit on my phone lol.

i'm sure this isn't the solution you're looking for, but it looks like the incase folio's belt clip could act as a money clip. i've yet to try this, but this is what i first thought when i bought the folio.

Yea, I saw that one but it doesn't suit my taste. I was thinking of something along the lines of the Incase Leather Folio but that it also doubles as a wallet.

Those cases are hot. The idea of an iPhone case that doubles as a wallet is a good idea. I don't think I would buy those particular cases though. It looks like a purse. feminish. and I'm going to stay away from the magnetic flap ones until I hear more about the effects of magnetic cases on the iPhone.

I saw some on ebay, a simple iPhone wallet search yielded some like this:

None of these really appeal to me either.
I like the incase design tho.

Wait.. why would you want to do this? so someone could wipe out your iphone, calendar, information, address book and such, as well as your credit cards, cash, ID and whatever other information you hold in your wallet all in one quick swipe? Just seems too risky to hold it all in one place like that?

That's an interesting way to look at it. I was kind of looking at it the other way around, where it would be less likely to misplace things because it's one less thing to keep track of. The less spread out those valuables are the less likely I am to misplace them or leave them unattended.

Most of the time (for me at least), things that I've had stolen from me in the past were because I left them unattended or misplaced them for a prolong period of time.

Honestly If someone made one of these that's more guy friendly in terms of looks and throw in a small slot (space) for my car keys it would be perfect.

No more leaving the house with 3 separate things to gather and look for. Where's my cell? Where's my wallet? Where are my keys? . All in one place.

I was actually thinking about this before I saw this thread. From a girl point of view it would be great to have something like this so when you are carrying a small purse it's one less thing to jam in. This is what I am using currently...

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elanholster/

It would be awesome if there was something like this without the clip in the back and instead two credit card holders and maybe a small zipper section to put some cash. It's not gonna replace a wallet. But for a night out it would be great. :)

I agree . . . very nice leather case. I considered that one but ended up ordering Case Mate's flip case and holster combo. If it doesn't ship by the indicated ship date I may order Griffin's case.

I like it a lot. Doesn't add too much bulk but protects it and the clip is removable which is perfect for me. One of the few times i've gone to a store and found exactly what I was looking for.:D

Really - look at this one - PielFrama (http://www.pielframa.net/pielframa_productos.asp?id=1805)

They are 70€/$97. I ordered it (June 29! waiting forever...). The flipper ones are 60€, I believe.

Like you, I was not interested in replacing a wallet but rather the option to simplify "baggage" on occasion.

So far this is the best wallet-like case I cound find.

Please post some pictures when you get it. I'd like to see how big it is in reality. 3 credit card slots, and a money pocket is plenty for me. However, I'd like to know if I can still fit it in a front pocket comfortably. If you could post some type of review I know I'd certainly appreciate it.

sure, I can do that.

Just contacted the Ebay seller, the reply was that the case would be shipped from Spain on July 20th....

I like that one form Prima; however, not really sure why it has SD Micro Card slots on it. A money pocket right there for a couple bills would make a lot more sense. Looks like something that was maybe re-purposed for the iphone.

The gold one is a bit of a monstrosity.

Here is a quote:

"Inside you'll find a hidden pocket, perfect for cards or a bit of cash. The HipCase's corner notches ensure unobstructed access to the iPhone’s headset jack, allowing you to listen to music or take a call while keeping the iPhone safely cradled in the HipCase."

That one isn't too bad either, though I can't imagine clipping anything to my belt like that. I just don't like the way that looks, plus I'd constantly be banging it into doorways or the corners of desks and stuff like that. Would be helpful if they actually showed the pocket.

I'm still the most interested in that Piel Frama that closes like a book with the 3 credit card slots and the money slot. My only worry is that it will be really bulky and you won't have access to all of the phone's controls while in the case.

I don't think accessing the controls would be a problem, but how would you talk on it? Fold the flap around the back or something?

Well 9 times out of 10 for me, I'm usually on the move when I'm using the phone. I'd either use the bluetooth headset or the earbuds.

In a pinch you could just slide the phone out of the case.

I like the idea of a wallet/iPhone case but aren't you worried you might loose something in your wallet?

I guess if the pockets have some sort of velcro lock to keep money in when you are talking on the phone. Dunno.

I decided to send an email to the Piel Frama people to get a better feel for how big that wallet case actually is. It sounds like it's actually fairly small, only adding around 5mm of bulk. This looks like the case I may wind up ordering after all.

----------------------------

Thank you very much for contacting us and for your interest in our products.

Regarding your question, I cannot tell you which are the exact dimensions of the iPhone Wallet Case. Well, all our cases have been designed and made so that they only add 3 or 4 mm to the dimensions of the device.

When talking about the wallet style, they could add around 5 mm to the device but, of course, you can carry the wallet in your front pocket.

Finally, the wallet is totally plain at both sides as it has no belt clip or whatever and it have been made so that all the functions of the device can be used without problems while the device is inside the case.

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Very best regards and have a nice day!!

Hi everyone!

I am so happy with my iphone that my big toe just shoots right up in my shoe!!!!

Anyway, I agree with the idea of compacting your bill fold, credit cards, keys and iphone into one nifty package so you can keep track of it all.

The piel frama cases look sehr cool, and I might order one, but I just placed an order for this at igonemobile:

http://www.igonemobile.com/products/html/73015338.html

it looks pretty nice and its reasonably priced. As far as the SD slot is concerned, I plan to use that to stora a key in!!! The only concern I have is the magnet closure, and I dont think it has a clip, not that I want it to...

anyone get a piel frama yet????

I guess Im being picky but I received my Nupocket and am not completely impressed. I like the functionality of it but wish the change pocket was on the other side, seems a little risky to have change right on the phone. Also it seems a little bulky and loose, like stuff can easily fall out:apple::o

FWIW I carry my iPhone in the same pocket as my magnetic money clip, and the phone has suffered no ill effects at all. It's a pretty strong magnet, probably stronger than those used in the phone cases.

received my igone mobile case, the wallet one that looks similar to the piel frama. It looks very nice and has a classy look to it, but the freakin credit cards dont fit

No way to carry keys either, so...

nupocket with video ipod sleeve works great if i need to carry everything in one thing

igonemobile is a nice alternative to the expense of piel frama, and works for classier occasions, but carries minimal wallet stuff...

chemistslime,

I recently purchased an iPhone wallet.
I think it works better than anything else out there because:
-it doesn't look like a purse like alot of the other cases
-and it offers instant access to my iPhone, (i don't have to flip a cover or take it out)
-and is securely allows me to carry around all the cards and cash i need

HOORAY:)

im seeing it can hold 3 cards and go upto 6 cards.. i figure i can hold my driver, 2 debit cards, sams club membership and my cpr card (which is basically a business card thickness) without stretching the leather too much. im very very close to ordering this over the sena walletbook simply for its size and sleek look. when exactly did you order yours? i also cant find any information as far as 1yr warranty.. or anything on the leather/stiching

i dont carry any cash on me at all, if i do its maybe 1 single 20 dollar bill.. thats it. so this deff looks like a GREAT solution for me as im a nursing student.

edit;

i did find a few reviews.. seems praise so far..

I ordered it late Tuesday (after 10pm). I got a notice sometime Thursday that said it had been 'dispatched'. I assume that means it's been, or about to be, picked up and shipped. No real idea how long it will take to get here though.

About the only information I could find outside their site was a discussion on some other devices forum where this case happened to fit. They were all going on and on about how great it was etc.

Yup- those are all the ones I came across as well. I got the dark brown. I'm also hoping that my 3gs fits inside with the very thin back case I've got on it now. I'm using a cheap leather case right now that was fairly easily stretched such that it slides in/out without a fight.

The last thing I want to do is lose my phone AND all of my identification, credit cards, and cash.

Wallets and money clips do a much better of what they do without trying to be an iPhone case/holder too. Sometimes it is a good idea to combine functions. I don't see this as one those times.

Again, there are many "responsible" people that have lost wallets and phones. The car accident point is to show that bad things happens to "responsible" people.

Or are you suggesting that everyone that has ever lost a phone, wallet, watch, etc., are "irresponsible" people?

Then you came in and basically said that you have to be irresponsible to lose a wallet or phone. I argued that losing a wallet or phone does not necessarily make one irresponsible. Now you tell me to go play in traffic. You are the one with the issues here, not me. You want a combo wallet/iPhone case? Great. I didn't say you shouldn't get one. Do what you want.

Jeez...

Are there any Iphone cases out there that also doubles as a wallet? I plan to take my iphone everywhere just like my wallet but i want to reduce the bulk by having the case serve a double function. Does anyone know?

Yup- those are all the ones I came across as well. I got the dark brown. I'm also hoping that my 3gs fits inside with the very thin back case I've got on it now. I'm using a cheap leather case right now that was fairly easily stretched such that it slides in/out without a fight.

I'll snap some pics when I get it and post them here for you.

I got the Ikonic Edge w/pocket in the mail on Monday (pretty fast given that it came from NZ and I ordered it late last Tuesday night).

I've snapped a couple pics- need to load them to imageshack though - i'll edit this post with them after while.

Overall, it is very well made and seems very durable. I've been stretching it for the last couple days as I plan to continue using the thin back cover I've got on the phone now. The great thing about leather is that it does stretch over time.

It's smaller than I expected. This is mainly because the side and bottom stitching is on the inside vs outside like the cheap one I've been using.

Okay- here are a bunch of pictures. I took them with the iPhone and loaded them to ImageShack using the new ImgShack app- which is very cool but does not seem to have a setting that enables you to resize the image upon upload like the desktop version. As such, the pictures are very large- so I used the thumbnail approach.

im excited to get my black one in! it still says "processing" i ordered LATE last night, im hoping i can fit 3 cards + my cpr card without having to stretch out the leather pocket. the leather looks really nice, is it some of the best quality leather you've ever seen?

im curious to see if you can get it to fit with the black case you have.. i have a crystal airjacket but as soon as this case comes in i think im going to drop it.

sucks about the tracking.. but i guess it will be a surprise when i get it in the mail!

I'd say the leather is very nice. It's soft and fairly thick- esp when compared to the super cheap leather case I was using (in the pics). I'd say it's about the thickness of the leather on a nice leather coat. Inside lining is very soft.

I've actually gotten the case stretched to the point where I can fit the iPhone with the Back Cover attached pretty easily. Although the Back Cover is not rubber, it does stick pretty well so this makes getting it in and out still a bit hard. I would guess that with another night on the stretcher it will be good to go.

Re: the card pocket, I've my electronic work badge- which is slightly more that twice the thickness of a credit card, my drivers license, and two credit cards in there. These all fit very well with, and without, the phone in the pouch. Seems to be no risk of things slipping out.

Overall, I think this is going to be just what I was after. I'm still getting used to not having a std wallet with me though.

great just what i wanted to hear. looks like $50 well spent. hope it gets to me soon! i wish i would have ordered last week so i have it in time for class starting on tuesday.

i carry a coach business card case/slim wallet, basically has 3 pockets.. i like them more then wallets since i dont EVER carry cash. and if i do its maybe one 20 dollar bill.

its going to suck giving up my alligator card case for a $50 case (yes i know the coach is WAY over priced) but hopefully the $50 quality is up to my standards.

Do you mind, putting up some closeup pics of the pouch with cards and phones tucked in.

Also i would like to know.. in one of the pictures i see you have tucked in a card, which seems to be partially out of the pouch, my question here is, by any chance do you think that the card/money cud slip out of the pouch by accident!!? Or can the cards/money be tucked away securely without the card slipping out of the case??

Also, wanted to know.. is there any warranty on the product?

Here are some closeups of the card pocket. There is the equivalent of 5 credit cards in the pocket. They stick out just under 1/2 inch.

I've got my case pretty well stretched out at this point and even with the phone out of the pocket there is still plenty of tension to hold the cards in. They would come out if you really tried to shake them loose - but only if the phone is not in the pocket. With the phone inside, there is no way they will slip out by accident. I'm sure that if you stick 20 dollar bills in there and stretch is out a lot, you'd have a problem.

This week I ordered the Krusell Orion 3g wallet case:

http://i.expansys.com/i/b/b174078.jpg

I really like this case; nice leather outside and soft lining inside. I really love the slide in hardcase for my iPhone. The screen is fully accessible without edges. The fit is snug, but it's still easy to get the phone out to make a longer call.

From the beginning I noticed the strong magnet holding the case together. I really liked this feature a lot untill..... I tried to get money at the ATM. My card was screwed! I tested it at other shops and ATM's; also no result! Then I tried my Visa card; also didnt't work anymore.

Am I really the first one to have this bad experience?

I'm sending this case back and am still looking for that nice wallet/ iPhone case combo which doesn't ruin my cards.

Yes- I've been stretching it pretty hard core for the last 4 days. It def took some work so I'm sure it won't just stretch out on it's own- so I think you'll be happy - although you have been using some cheap Coach products so who knows. :-)

I am really impressed by this pouch.
Reason being, i am not interested to have a pouch with a flip which has a button attached to it, which adds bulk to the pouch thus creating making you feel erratic in ur pocket, neither i am willing to go for a bulky holster wallet...
This one is particularly impressing me, cos of the sleekness and the smart way cards (specially the driving license) which can be tucked in, it wud be an ideal situation with one drivers license, a credit card and maybe a small amount say.. a fifty dollar note tucked in.. which can come handly when you are always on the move, and dont wish to carry purses when moving around the neighbourhood.

One last question i have...
Is there a way, that a single card which looks out of the pouch can be covered with the upper mount of the leather flip.

So what did you decide?

I like the black. I agree that the card pouch stitching looks a bit off. Mine is not that bad. Cards cover it anyway so it does not bother me. I think the most difficult thing for me has been getting used to not having a wallet with me.

ihonda
Oct 7, 2009, 10:11 AM
im not a fan of the case at all because of the stitching it looks like something you'd buy off ebay or those chinese websites like dealextreme for under $2.00, the leather feels cheap compared to what i normally carry. i believe these are actually from asia/so on and then shipped to new zealand because i dont see how they can pass Q&A with the pocket isnt even across, even without the cards you can see it.

i guess i had my expectations set way to high for $50.00

on to the next pouch.

ihonda
Oct 7, 2009, 12:13 PM
i would be learly of that casemate, its all plastic and plastic breaks easy. also IMO casemate products LOOK like and ARE junk. they never fit properly! thats why walmart sells them so cheap!!

it is a sharp idea, i wish incipio would do that because i appericate their feather light cases.

i dont think the cards would be 100% secure in the casemate because both the top and bottom are exposed..it also doesnt seem like it takes much to remove the cards from that so if you somehow hit the buttom of the card the wrong way it might become dislogged.

How about the European carry-all that Seinfield carried!

This one looks pretty good, Griffin quality is usually really good too.

Griffin passport (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elan-passport-wallet)

I just bought that today for my iPhone, and it's a decent case. Best Buy had it for $29 so I got a little cheaper than direct from Griffin. The worst thing I found out about it is the hole for the camera and sometimes typing the "P" is a little difficult since the edge of the case comes so close to the screen. If it was 1mm narrower on both sides it would be absolutely perfect.

Got this as a gift from my girlfriend, it works as a case and a wallet in one

http://www.phonewallet.com.au

My girlfriend got tired of finding my wallet when I could not, I was constantly being told about the difference between a boy and a girl look. Her idea was that if my wallet was with my iPhone, she could just ring my phone and find it. That plan had limitations as I had to ensure the ringer was turned up being in the case.

Plan also flawed if I mute my ringer and then can not find my wallet and my phone as well. I don't think she planned on that one. I had no idea where she got it from, she just told me to google the brand of phonewallet and I managed to find it on the link above, learnt from her girlfriend that they spotted one with another girlfriend from their work except it was pink, thankfully I got the black version.

Now my girlfriend is happy, with no more searching for my stuff and I got a great gift which I actually use and that does get me points with my girlfriend. We all know the more points you get, the longer you can spend on the web. I may get more points if I score her one I hope, at least I think that is the clue that seems to get mentioned.

End result for me it is a great way to keep my iPhone and wallet together, now I just have to find a solution for my keys. Keyless entry for everything, how soon will I have to wait for that one?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this case yet- because I am too lazy to read through the 11 pages of comments - but I have the Speck CandyShell Card Case and I actually like it.

It holds just enough cards in cash within the case and yet isn't too bulky to still fit in my pocket. I read some good reviews on it before buying and it lived up to its reputation.

Just another great iDevice product from Speck!

What happens if you only have one card in there? Is it loose? or is it designed for 1-6 cards?

One card fits nice and snug due to the design. It fits up to 3 cards(:

I had purchased and tried out the case and ended up returning it due to the flaking. I managed to fit 4 cards in the case with them being my ID, debit card, work ID, and a hotel key card when I was out of town.

Don’t waste your time, or money on the iFlipWallet.

I have had an iFlipWallet for both my iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 that came apart. I didn’t ask for a replacement on the iPhone 3 case because I upgraded to an iPhone 4. However, after less than a year of use the iFlipWallet for my iPhone 4 also came apart at the seams. The warranty email address for iFlipWallet results in bounced messages and the person who monitors the info@ address has not responded to multiple emails asking for information on how to get a replacement case.

The claim on iFlipWallet.com that this product has a lifetime warranty is an outright lie.

Has anyone seen an iPhone case like the one shown below?

It is a belt clip holster case with a zipper compartment that you could put a cardcase wallet in.

Check this new wallet on Kickstarter called Casellet (Case + Wallet).

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee391/EddieHsieh/features_open.jpg

It incorporates form and function:

The Casellet website is here: www.casellet.com

You can pre-order it on Kickstarter here:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1147975935/casellet-ultimate-iphone-4-s-case-wallet

In order for it to be funded, kickstarter needs to reach it's goal.

Just picked up a "Hex Solo" case from my local Apple store. This is by far the best wallet case I've had (and I've tried damn near all of them!). Adds ZERO bulk beyond what a normal thin case would add. It's a standard leather shell-like case, but with two slots in the back for cards. The slots are low enough that the cards don't interfere with the camera at all. The case seems sturdy, and the leather feels really nice. Holds 2 cards easily and I'm guessing that as the leather stretches I will eventually be able to add a 3rd and maaaaybe even a fourth. I saw that Hex makes another model that is a book-like design, but the one I got is the "Solo" model. It was $39.99.

Try this one.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001KT66YO/ref=pd_luc_mri?%5Fe

It's been around a long while. Obviously as they don't label it for iPhone sales. I have to look for it every time. The quality is pretty good for the price but need to warn you that you will need to replace it every other year or so. It still works fine but starts to look warn out after a long while.. Great for travel as it is often all I use when I'm out and about on vacation. It has a slot for credit cards and media slots. I believe it will hold an iphone with a case but haven't tried it. I know it holds a naked iphone.

The last one I bought was more than a year ago and spent the morning trying to find it as I could not remember the manufacturer:rolleyes: Saw this thread and realised I was not alone in my quest. This works great. Enjoy

Lose your phone; bad. Lose your wallet; worse. Lose both simultaneously; disasterous.
