So I've got my Mac Pro, and my MacBook Pro. I use the MBP on the road a lot, and when I get home, I want all the stuff I did to be on my Desktop. Is there a way to get only updated files from certain folders on the laptop to automagically copy onto the desktop?

yes there is an application out there that is free, i am trying to remember the name, let me check and post it, but also throw it to google too. Also, .mac if you have an account is supposed to help facilitate this to a decent degree, but certainly is not complete if i remember correctly.

I use Chronosync to do exactly that, also between a Mac Pro and a MBP.

I don't use it, but arRsync (http://arrsync.sourceforge.net/) looks funny! It utilises the inbuilt rsync functionality of OSX so it can't be all bad. :)

Check out Unison

Works well - not too hard to setup either.

Chronosync works well. Can't speak to other options.

On the other hand, it's only $30.
You can do it through Apple Server, too, but that's starting at $500.

There's no point in syncing the system and you'll run into all sorts of troubles if you use PPC and Intel machines together. Having said that, I don't doubt a lot of these apps have that ability as technically you're just telling them to sync a folder. They don't really care what's in it.

thats me point, cauz each OS has different drivers and what not for the system. would be pretty stupid to me...
maybe syncing home folders or wateva is a good idea. id be up for that.

Maybe I should have been more specific, I'm not looking to sync drivers, programs, etc. Just data!
thanks for all the suggestions, I'll have to try some of them out when I get off the road and actually have a day at home!
