View Full Version : Should I buy / sell threads.

I don't know about the rest of you but this is getting ridiculous and very tiresome.

There are tons of threads covering should I buy/sell/trade console A for console B and new posters seem to lack any instinct to search.

These threads invariably lead to fanboy arguments and juvenile retorts, so in a small hope that we can stop this, I am posting the links to the bigger threads which cover these kind of topics.

Most of the responses you will find will be the same regardless.

Here is a list of threads since the last big forum shakeup.

^ trust me, as a newbie on these forums, you have no idea of how much trouble these type of threads cause around here, and have in the past nearly caused admin to close the gaming section for good.

We want to try and maintain this section, avoid the meltdown which nearly destroyed it and keep it at a decent standard, and not just a replica of all the other badly behaved fora.

Fair enough point taken, but then you must have had some idea of what these threads do. ;)

Happy New Year :)

I agree. These threads are so ridiculous and I swear there is a new one ever 3 days. People just need to make up their own minds by taking a look at the game selection and the abilities of the console.

And why people avoid the search function is beyond me.

Yeah, I used to mod the game forum at Macaddict. These threads can get really stupid really fast due to a couple of people. Often times the thread had no point to begin with, it just warps into a useless mass.

They're just ME ME ME threads, look at me threads, or I'm lazy threads.

I noticed that the threads that contain pros and cons listing in their initial post have already made up their mind on which choice -- these are definitely the look at me threads, I'm going to spend some money.

And the sad part is that at one time or another, we all waste are time posting in one as if it will make any difference.

I frankly don't mind them. I guess I'm just much more laid back.

When people start PMing you to get involved in the thread you can't be so laid back. lol (Although these days I try to just say my bit if I feel like it and move on.)

I assume it's okay to ask about which specific games to buy?

So, what's everyone's thoughts about the PS3? Is it really a better value than the 360 now? If you can only afford one high-end system, which one would you buy and why?

Heh, heh. Seriously, I was waiting for someone to group the various "which to buy?" threads together into one convenient spot. They are all virtually the same topic with the same arguments repeated over and over again. One thing I would suggest, MRU, add the thread title before the links...that way, you could easily see what the main topic is of a thread and will be able to quickly select a specific thread by name (rather than guessing/remembering the thread number...since they're all so similar). :)
