I took a quick pic of my setup while I was moving things around. Usually it's not this messy ;)

There's a TAM on the cabinet, underneath inside is my Xserve, with a PB150, 5300cs & 540c inside. On the right is my TiBook on top of my MDD PowerMac. Getting tough to find places for everything... wish I had a house.

I have a few duplicates that I'll eventually clean, make sure are working, and sell or give away. It's even tough to get rid of those as they always can provide parts too the primaries. That's a nice collection too! Have any photos you can post?

It's looks a lot worse than it really is. I was moving things around like I said, so it was really messy.

The TAM is in no danger- trust me. After winning it off an auction over a year ago, I've only seen 1 other, they are really rare in Japan, so I take real good care of mine (have all the boxes, manuals, pen/pencil case, etc.) It's secure on top of the cabinet.

As for the Xserve, this cabinet was the only cost-effective sollution I could think of. The Xserve cost me $1,000, but most enclosures will easily run 2x that price, so I decided to get the AV cabinet for $50 and prop it up inside. It's in there pretty safely, and doesn't rattle around or anything.

He was lucky and was in the right place at the right time, the lucky bas...anyway, I wouldn't mind getting an XServe for less than an iBook. That'd be pretty sweet. I don't have any real use of one, but hell, give me an XServe and I'll come up with a use for it.

Major bragging rights would be your first and upmost use for an XServe :D

As you could prolly tell from my post a couple of clicks of a mouse up the page, I don't have much of a Mac collection. I'm interested in starting one but, well, you know, don't come for free. Need to get a job and spend some time on eBay. Wishlist include mainly old hardware: Mac, Mac II, Mac SE, LC 75 (the pizza box Mac), and some older Powerbooks.... ooohh the PowerBooks. I just added a real sweet Apple Server 500 to my collection. It won't run the MacOS though so it will be a bit challenging to get it up and running and integrated into the network.

As for Pbooks, I'd love to have the 12" for the fantastic portability. If only Steve would deliver us the Newton 2!

Technically, the iBook isn't mine anymore, I've sold it online but haven't got around to couriering it off yet. But on the plus side, I've bought myself a Power Mac G4, and I'll have to go with tradition and take photos of opening the box and setting it up :p

Wow. I'm quite impressed at the collections I've seen on this thread. mactarkus, you have quite the room indeed, I imagine the indentations your shelves leave on the carpet are permenant indeed. Anyway, I'm new to the boards here, and thought I'd throw out my paltry collection...

Mac Plus (the entire portable bag kit)
Mac Classic
Mac SE/30
Mac LC550
Mac Quadra 840av, 14"av, adj. keyboard
Mac UnderPerforma 6200 & 6360tv
PB 145b
PB 1400c w/Sonnet G3 card
Select 300 LaserWriter

There's a couple more in there I think. The only clame to fame, really, is that they're all in as close to perfect condition as they can be for 'elderly' computers. I'll post a pic when I can. Good to meet you all.

I just switched about 3 months ago :D , I'm only 14 but I've already made plans for a collection of macs......... I have a 17" iMac, and i just got a blueberry iBook about a week ago (bought on ebay of course). I want to get a g3 b&w powermac next, then a cube, then i'm saving up for a dual 1.25 ghz powermac g4 with a 20 " display- im hoping to get all these before next new year's. After all these I'll be saving for a dual g5 (hopefully 3 ghz, by the time i get enough money) with 2 gb of ram and a 23" screen. I feel this will be a good start at my collection :p . I'll post a pic of my iMac and iBook as soon as i get a new camera.....which may be awhile since im buying an isight pretty soon. Anyways, just wanted to say i think apple is awesome, and steve jobs is way cooler then bill gates :) .

We've had the collection of functional Macs for a while--my dual 1 gig G4 & iBook, my wife's G4 PowerMac, iPods, AirPort, etc. Now sudenly we've added a Mac SE ($1.00, how can you not buy it), PowerMac 7600, G4 Cube, and my wife is asking her parents to send out her Lisa. Heh i been to Tokyo recently, and during my stay i visited Akihabara "electric town" for a digi cam. I didn't end up buying anything, but it was really ridiuclous how many electronic stores there were in the area. I went to a different coffeehouse for once the other day in Indianapolis. The place is called Corner Coffee, and to my surprise is basically a Mac coffeehouse. Airport wireless obviously, but on top of that i noticed every patron that was there with a computer had a Mac, there was an old tray loading iMac in the corner for public use, and best of all their "boombox" was the 20th Anniversary PowerPC LCD running iTunes. if anyone is ever in indianapolis looking for a cup of joe or a smoothie and wants to enjoy it in a mac-friendly environment, look up Corner Coffee on Alabama Ave. :D

Well my collection did consist of my newer 15" aluminum PowerBook G4 and an older Lombard G3, but tonight I just sold my G3 for $500. Can you believe that? Apple computers really do have a nice resale value considering this thing is 5 1/2 years old and I sold it for more than some new computers go for. I guess that means my collection just consists of a PowerBook G4 now. I really want to get a NeXT Cube, a G4 Cube, and a G5, but for now I'll just be content with what I have.

I'd like a NeXT Cube, a G4 Cube, and a Gamecube. :D

Isn't that 'Cubes Cubed. Ahh ha ha.. ha.. huh. Sorry.

Anyways, my collection is piddley at best compared to some of you guys. I've got a blue&white Rev.b, a Dual 500 G4, and a (currently broken) iBook 366mhz. Blue also.

Oh, and my father-in-law gave me an Apple IIc - with WORKING LCD & games. Needless to say, we get allong REAL well. :) :) :D

Wow.

I've owned my share of Macs (and many other computers), but have never had the room to hang onto them for long.

I do still have my NeXTstation TurboColor, though, among the last NeXT systems ever manufactured.

http://speakeasy.org/~isaac/nexton.jpg

That's a NeXTstation TurboColor with 64 MB RAM (the max officially supported) and internal 2G HD (the max supported in NEXTSTEP), 17" Trinitron NeXT Color Monitor, NeXT ADB Keyboard and Mouse (yes, it does work on ADB macs), an external 2G Barracuda HD, an external Apple CD300E SCSI CD-ROM (bootable!), a NeXT 400dpi LaserPrinter, original OS media and documentation, original Lighthouse Design application suite media, original Y2K update patch media, an ultra-rare copy of Rhapsody DR2 x86 (don't ask), and an ADB->USB adapter (to let the NeXT ADB keyboard/mouse work on a modern mac).

(I'd let this setup go for a song to anyone willing to pick it up in NYC. Send me a PM if you're interested - I don't really have room for it anymore and would prefer it go to a good home.)
