Why should Americans know or care about an English-born Australian singer who is almost 60 years old? And one with little chart success over there?
You know, just saying... 😀
if i was to say.. i dont have a clue who david hasselhoff is, nor do i care, im sure a lot of people would go "pfft what a loser".
Hey, the Hoff wears a leather jacket much better than John Farnham, is huuuuge in Germany... and has a talking car.
John Farnham: big in Australia, not elsewhere.
I have no idea who he is.
so? i couldnt give a damn.
I still remember the Little River Band. Yup... grey hairs.
I still remember the Little River Band. Yup... grey hairs.
And neither could most Americans. Face it, Australia is a bit of backwater on the international music scene... but not as much of a backwater as New Zealand. 😉
There's no reason for most Americans to have heard of this guy except for this song.
thats the song that the dude sung, and they didnt know it. probably his most famous. ugh
Well, it was over twenty years ago. I'm guessing most of the entrants in American Idol would have been too young to remember it.
I like Ann Wilson of Heart's version better... much better mullets and poodle cuts. 😀
Why should they know it? They were probably drooling in their cots when that one-hit wonder came out. Besides, it was a hit in Germany and the UK, but not the US from what I remember, so they may never have heard it. He never sustained a career outside his home patch past that record.
Could you sing along to Billy Vera and the Beaters, for instance?
never heard of ann wilson.
I like Ann Wilson of Heart's version better...
they were as big as farny?
In US terms bigger. They had a number one. John Foghorn did not.
Who knows who John Farnham is? I've never heard of this guy. Looking through the Discography on wikipedia seems like he has done lots of best ofs.
