"Beta release 4: The fourth beta adds support for Open GL ES within the iPhone
Simulator, rendering 3D graphics in the Simulator that mirror behavior on the iPhone
and iPod touch. There are new iPhone OS templates in the New Project and New
Target assistants. Code signing is now enforced on devices. See the "Known Issues"
section below for details."

Not until you get selected as a beta developer...or the end of June, whichever comes first.
Very cool that you can now run the OpenGL apps on the simulator.

So does this finally fix the -10810 errors? Surprisingly, I had no time at all lately to work on my iPhone app ever since Beta 3 came out but I read that some people still had that error come up once in awhile.

They call all developers, I answer, but they won't let me in! One of my iPhone apps relies on the accelerometer and therefore I have to test it on a real phone, but they won't let me in the developer program! Grr. Been a Mac developer since 1985 but get no respect <straightening tie> no respect at all..

DRM music syncs and plays, the iTunes store has been readded, and the AppStore has been readded (although it reports a connection error).

That would be cool, but I think the picture of the iPhone and Macbook Air have more to do with the iPhone Software 2.0, iPhone SDK, and future of Apple devices and mobile products.
The Macbook Air add more gestures to the track pad than previous Mac laptops and maybe Apple will open that up to customization.
I'd like to see some hints of the next OSX or at least the code name for it (Lion : Hear Mac roar!).

today at macrumors >>Apple changed their home page today with a photo of an iPhone and MacBook Air with the title "Calling all developers", reminding visitors that early registration for the World Wide Developer's Conference ends on April 25th, 2008.<<
If you compare with real mac book air you will notice, that the pics on the main page www.apple.com and the real mac book air are not the same!
The cut on the frontside edge near the touch pad is missing in the pic!!!
As a result, is this a symbolic photoshoped mba or is it one other (future style mb or mbp) on the offical apple page???

I installed the SDK, however when I attempt to load a sample project and build it, Xcode tells me: error: There is no SDK with specified name or path 'Unknown Path'
I tried re-installing, and uninstalling and then installing, but still the same thing. Not sure what I did wrong, since previous updates all worked fine.
Second question, it sounds as if people are putting the latest firmware on their real iphones. Is this possible?

After the install with iTunes you still have to go into xcode and provision it before you can use the phone.

I edited the project properties to make the project a iPhone 2.0 simulator and it appears fine now (well other than a few code errors).
Second question remains though, are people installing 2.0 on their real phones?

Apple brags about 200K developers. Are those the people that plunked down the $99? Or are they just people that registered at ADC and downloaded the SDK? I wonder, because I bet most of the people downloaded it just to tinker around with it. Just because you jailbroke your iPhone doesn't mean you're a developer. After a week when the novelty wears off and people realize they don't know Objective-C and Cocoa, you'll see that 90% of those "developers" weren't really developers at all.

I have to agree with you. I remember when it was first released so many people were posting here they were downloading it "just to check it out" but had never programmed before and had no intention of signing up for the $99 program. Then there were all those who downloaded believing it gave them the iPhone 2.0 software that they could put on their iPhones. Oy!

I've been running the beta firmware on my own iPhone. The first version was pretty buggy, and the second version expired a day before the next version came out, but so far it's mostly been okay.
It would have been smarter to just pick up an iPod touch instead of risking my primary phone, but I wanted to use the audio input in my app.

Just noticed the EDIT functionality in mail app (email list) is also changed, now new buttons for Delete and Move come up at the bottom of the list, a circle next to each email in the list. When an email is touched an arrow covers the circle on each email item in the list. So now bulk delete and move are implemented in a better way.

Apr 24, 2008, 03:11 PM
newyourksole, it depends indeed on your computer application. In case you use a Mac I guess you use Addressbook for your contacts. You just have to create the groups you want to have on your iPhone on the left hand side. Should you use Outlook, you will have to create subfolders under your contacts-folder. The name of the subfolder will be the name of the group on the iPhone.

Do we? How? The list on my iPhone (UK, bought from O2 on launch day, never jailbroken, running 1.14) doesn't. Hold the button down and the only option and the menu extends, but .com is the only option on it...
Still no horizontal keyboard in mail etc?
EDIT: Sorry, works now - I didn't have UK Keyboard turned on. But that's very odd, because I've never changed that setting (I didn't even know it was there until now...), so is it not enabled by default when your international setting is United Kingdom?
