View Full Version : What Case Are You Getting for Your 3g iPhone?

Just was wondering what cases you guys (and girls) are planning on getting for your new 3g iPhone? I kinda don't want to get a case because I don't want it getting to bulky and I wanna show off the sexy looks of it, but then again getting it all dirty and scratched up would be worse. So what do you plan on getting or are you keeping yours "naked" as well?

Mine will be naked. Apple are brilliant at making sexy looking products and it seems a shame to cover them up with some crappy looking case.
I've never dropped my iPhone so I don't think slipping will be an issue.
As for scratching, I don't see it being a problem.

I've used a silicon case with screen protector for my iPod, but every time I take it out of the case it feels so much thinner/better.
I am getting at least a screen protector for my iPhone. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to get a silicon case or just a protective film all around.
Anyone have experience with protective film for iPods and iPhones? Since they are pretty much just clear stickers, do they easily start to peel off from use and wear?

It is called the iSkin Fuze. I think it is pretty sweet looking, and has all of the features I want in a case. Hard outer shell with ruberized finish. Soft shock absorbing layer. Anti-fingerprint, anti-glare, touch friendly, no glue screen protector. See through sensor area. Covered controls and docking port. Does not add that much bulk to the iPhone. Now that the iPhone 3g will be thinner, I wont mind adding a little bulk to the phone.

I'll use the InvisibleShield from BestSkinsEver for the new 3g. I've had it on my "old" iPhone and I'm so happy with it. I didn't want the skin to change the size and design of the iphone, but wanted to protect it from scratches and color from my jeans :)

I totally do not understand people who put cases filters and other crappy stuff on their gadgets. It completely defeats the purpose!! Why would you put some crap on your well designed and built device? You pay money to get the filling of aluminum or other nice iphone shiny materials, and to see its beauty as it is, not to spend more money to hide it in some sort of condoms. Will get scratched sooner or later? so what - that is the way it is. Do people who puts this stuff take it off in the evenings at some super safe location to admire build quality and not yet scratched device? Apple did not put anti scratch ******** in the factory, neither you get this stuff in the box, there must be a reason don't you think so? Just enjoy your iphone don't put crap on it :)

So because the company didn't put it on, you shouldn't want it?
Thats very interesting. Do you use your computers with only preinstalled software? Didn't think so.

Not sure, but don't you guys think the new iPhone will feel almost identical to the slider? (Given the fact that they will both be plastic...)

Am not talking about installing apps on your iphone. I don't use only preinstalled software on my computer of course.... and I don't use keyboard covers, screen protectors and other crap.
When do you guys enjoy your device? do you remove covers for the night or what?

Its not a big deal if some want to use covers -- most do it to protect their investment. For suce an expensive device, a cover is a good idea to protect it from drops and everyday use.
No big deal bro.

I look at it as the same thing as waxing my autos. I do this to keep it from fading and buffing out scratches whenever possible.
I am hoping for the Speck Holster Pro like I am using now on a gen 1 iPhone.

I do this so I can dock it without issues and carry it on my belt at Work. Oh, and I use the screen protector that the Apple store carries.

I have the invisa shield and it is perfect for my ipod. But I would not want to use that for a touch screen.

I hope Cozip makes a case for the 3G. Their first iPhone clip on back case was the most subtle and thin case out there for the phone... even if it was only half a case.

I've been using a white Incase Slider on my iPhone for the past few months, and I like it a lot, but the black back of the new phone looks so sweet that I think I'm gonna "go naked" and either use just an Invisible Shield, or combine the back piece of the Shield with the Power Support crystal film screen protector, which I hope will be available on day 1 per last time. The Power Support screen protector works like a champ and is much easier to put on w/o bubbles than an Invisible Shield-type protector. That may leave a little bit of the chrome bezel exposed, but I don't mind living a little dangerously sometimes. I may eventually get a horizontal holster a la the DLO, but at least off the bat I want to show off the phone's slick-ass aesthetics with nothing else getting in the way!

I'm going to stick with my Griffin Elan Holster (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elanholster) which is compatible with the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G. I need something to keep the iPhone protected when I'm not using it and this is the perfect solution. Many people have complained about the clip being unstable but I don't use it to carry on my belt buckle (that's tacky). I take the clip off and the holster/phone fits perfectly in my pocket. It's leather and is one of the 'professional' looking cases available.

Just ordered the Griffin Wave for 3g iPhone. Free shipping + discount if you use "FIREWORKS" coupon code.
I got the black case for the white iPhone. I think it will look good because it kind of blends the black front and white back together on the sides and has the somewhat translucent back. Decent all around protection.

how easily does the bottom piece come off? I don't want it to just fall off by itself all the time.

I like the idea of the Sena Ultra Slim Pouch... a little protection when you are travelling, but it can still fit in your pocket and allow you to use it naked.
However, rather than buying one of theirs, I'll probably just make one of my own, so it will have a little personality.

Well, with the incase slider (I have a matte black one on my 2G iPhone), it has rubber grips on the inside, and it actually takes some force to pull off. Sometimes, the top part doesn't want to come out at all, it's a very tight fit.

I ordered an invisible shield from Zagg and a set of the ipod socks off ebay. if i don't like this combo i may remove the back IS and get either the wave case or Elan Form cases after i read some hand on reviews. There is a part of me though that just wants to keep the IS on the front and let it get a little beat up to make it my own. I don't know yet, guess i'll have to wait till I have it to see.

I had ordered the Sena Ultra Slim Pouch and received it last week. I like it, and this will be what I use when I get my phone on Friday and until my other case gets here. However, I was a bit disappointed that it's more of a ballet slipper pink than a true pink in real life. I might try to dye the leather a brighter pink

I'm planning to order a Vaja case as soon as I know which color iPhone I'm going to get. I keep flip-flopping. I'd get the Griffin Elan Form pictured above, but I think the brown edge looks like crap, especially on the front next to the black screen. Why couldn't they have used grey?

The beauty of leather is that it stretches...you should be able to stretch it to accomodate the tiny increase in thickness.

Ill be going with the invisi-shield from invisibleshield.com. Its military grade. I had it on my first iphone and couldnt scratch it if i tried. Also, if anything happens to it, they replace it for free. ALSO, if u want to show off your sleek new iphone, why cover it up with a bulky case??

I managed to get my 3g into my Vaja ivolution with the great rivet clip. It is a bit tight, but it works. Vaja is the case of choice for me, but I don't like the fold over ones they are showing now. Hope they produce the more minimalist case I have now.

I had to go back to the apple store this afternoon to snatch one of the last griffin wave cases they had (unfortunately in white, I wanted a black one) after seeing small scratches on the back of the phone already (16gb black).
I'm pretty happy with it. The screen protector sucks, but I was counting on that and will probably get an Zagg IS for the front.

So I just got Ghost Armor for my new Iphone today. The At&t guy said that it was the best accessory for it and now its so pretty and it will never get scratched :) everyone in here is talking about invisibileshield?? I just dont get how it gets better than ghost armor? It is totally clear, doesnt affect my touch, doesnt scratch, lifetime warranty, covers my whole phone except side buttons, and the guys at the store were sooooooo cute :) lol ignore that last part. But does anyone know which one is truley better cause that would be interesting if its possible to be better than Ghost Armor. MrGiggles says ghost armor is #1 well that makes me feel good :) well does anyone else know if there is anything better? just curious thxxx

Here I go again. :)
OK, I had ordered the Sena 3G Ultra Slim Pouch in Pink (http://www.senacases.com/Brands/iPhone-3G-Cases/APPLE-iPHONE-3G-ULTRA-SLIM-POUCH;jsessionid=0a0108431f43a3826be933414f29bdf2a70c808fa651.e3eSbNyQc3mLe34Pa38Ta38LbN50) and received it before the 11th. Once I actually got my phone yesterday, though, and inserted it, I had some problems. Way too tight both on and off. The site shows how to remove the phone from the case--if only it were that easy. I was having to put a lot of pressure on it, and I almost dropped it once! I looked at the box and invoice this morning, and the invoice clearly says 3G, but the box the case came in says 3G nowhere. I think they sent me the old case! So that'll be returned. Oh, well. The pink wasn't as bright in real life as it was online.
I have been toying with ordering a Vaja case (http://www.vajacases.com/home/home_en.html), which seem really nice, but I think the flaps on the models they have out right now would bug me. The carnation pink leather is nice, though, and I love the stripe on the SP.
The Griffin Elan Form in Pink (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elanform3g) would have been a no-brainer for me, except that the trim is brown. I think that would look awful with the black screen, so that's a no-go. Other than the issue with the brown is looks fantastic. If only they had used grey or tone-on-tone pink. The fools.
Then I found the Incipio Orion Sleeve Case in Pink (http://www.myincipio.com/product/IPHONE_3G_IPH-329/Designer_iPhone_Case_for_Apple_iPhone_by_Incipio.html). It's very slim, like the Sena, but the color is more vibrant and it also has an "EasyReach" tab system to make getting it out easy. I was sold, and ordered it this morning. I hope it gets here soon.

Are there any simple, black silicone cases for the 3g iphone available now? Something like the Marware sport grip (http://www.marware.com/PRODUCTS?id=667) for the edge iphone, except for 3g of course. billyripken, thanks for the pictures. I'm a fan of the Agent18 cases and have been looking for some good pictures of the clear 3G one.
Question - how do you put the phone in? The last iPhone case split in two horizontally but I dont see a horizontal seem in your picture.

Has anybody been able to find a good case with a clip? I looked at acouple of ATT and Apple stores and all I could find is something like lakaiordie posted. Really not what I'm looking for. I have something like this for my Ipod.

I see they are having a 3g model coming soon but I need something sooner...

I like that contour flick case except that flimsy as $!@# looking bottom cap. I suggest those who like that to wait for InCase to release the slider for 3G. I loved mine for my first gen phone. Looks exactly the same except the bottom piece just slides off...no breakable pieces.

It does not split horizontal but vertical.

i have a sena elega case/pouch/holster whatever you wanna call it
fits the iphone very sunggly. clip is strong

Can the belt clip be removed? I was looking for another Sena case. I have an ultra slim pouch for my original iPhone. It was great. After 2 months or so of use the pouch really stretched out and led to one of my worst drops where I dented my phone pretty bad. I still use it, but I can literally put the stock headphones with belkin cord tie thingy in the pouch with the phone. I might check out the Vaja classic retro slim bag this time around. The Elga looks promising but I want something for my pocket and I can't tell if that clip would cause a problem.

I am still a little confused on all the Sena products. Something tells me that they are trying to pass off the original iPhone products as working for both. I'm betting they meant to send you a 2G case and that's why it is tighter. If you look on the apple site it claims compatibility with both which is a little sketchy. I can't help but think getting a case to cover your sharp looking iPhone is the equivalent of putting a clear plastic cover on your sweet couch in the living room..... seems rather ridiculous when you think of it that way, huh??

Not really. Yes if you buy the big plastic cases, but something like the InvisibleSHIELD and Ghost Armor is like putting scotch-guard on your couch.

You all have some nice cases.
I'm on the fence about what I want. I got the clear contour, but it is just to protect the phone until I figure out what I want. I am too active and clumsy to NOT have a case, but I love the films. I'm glad some of you get a beautiful phone with some scratch protection, but I know I would destroy it. Enjoy looking sleek and sexy, while I look frumpy and bulky. :D

i dont think the clip can be removed, i just tried to lift it up some to see what its holding it on and its very very secured to the rest of the case, i used some force too. its a super sturdy and stiff clip its pretty low profile too. i dont know how it would feel in your pocket w/ the clip. i just measured the thickness with the phone in it and its 1" exactly and the thickest part of the clip is a little over a 1/4" and the thinnest part of it is about an 1/8"
heres a picture i found of the 2g iphone in the case

its a really nice case. why just not clip it on to your belt? it has excellent protection for your phone

I'm getting my iPhone on Tuesday next week, I would like a case for then- does anyone know where I can get a Contour Flick?
Does anyone think that apart from the chance of the bottom bit breaking on the Contour Flick that it will be better than the Incase Slider?
Cheers :)

Well, no freaking wonder. I emailed CS and was told to give it 30 days to stretch. Um, no, I want to return it now. I'm a tiny woman with very small hands, and I can't deal with the level of pressure I'm having to put on it to insert/remove the phone. It's unusable. My last email was ignored and I still don't have a return authorization number.

Just got back from the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL and have pics of the Agent 18 Clear case. I went with this one because it can dock in the universal dock using the supplied dock adapter and still shows off my white beauty.:p
How is this case with fingerprints on the back of the phone? Im thinking of grabbing this one and getting some ghost armor for the front or something like that.

I got the white Griffin Wave for my white iPhone.
Looks great and is tough as hell! The case is a little translucent, so you can still see the chrome :apple: and read "iPhone" and "16GB" on the back.
Instead of the included screen protector, I'm using the non-glare film they sell at the Apple Store. Although it does make the screen look a little grainy, fingerprints and smudges are simply a non-issue. I can't recommend that film enough.
So happy.

Actually, if you search, Ghost Armor only appears on these forums starting July 8th and only by "newbies" that came here apparently to promote this brand that very few have heard of before.
Then do a search on Invisible Shield where you'll find pages and pages of history, or search BSE or Best Skins Ever or BestSkinsEver, or BodyGuardz, etc. and you'll find tons of posts.

Well, I ended up grabbing a Belkin silicon sleeve from the Apple store when I got my 3G yesterday. http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=457217 is what i got, but a different pattern.
I'm still debating on keeping it or not. It looks good enough and doesn't add that much to the size. Of course, I'd have to do some kind of customizing to get a dock to fit.
My other option (besides a different gel case of some kind) would be skin from Bodygardz or Invisisheild or Best Skin Ever. Do all these fully cover the silver trim around the screen?
Either way, i will be getting a power support anti-glare screen protector soon (they were out at the apple store). I had it on my old iPhone and the fingerprints and glare from the screen are really annoying.

I only really need a rubber case so that I can text on the damn thing. It's so slick and tiny that my big hands can't hold onto it and have my thumbs goin around, its ok if i'm sitting down but if I'm texting and walking then i'm bound to drop it at some point. Why the hell can't apple just give us a horizontal keyboard?!?!?! This is ludicrous!

I think i'm gonna go with some Invisible shield for the back, the screen protector from the apple store for the front, not sure about shiny or matte yet. and a simple silicon case. Then I'll only use the silicone case when I'm out and about, and worried about it (i.e. parties or walking to class)

A word of warning to those who think they are totally protected with films- they do NOTHING to protect you from drops and shocks. That honor goes first to the silicones and second to the acrylic/polycarb ones.
I got the Griffin Wave in the Apple store as a 2-pack for $35, a good deal since my wife and I both have one. It's a nice touch that the colors show up great if you have a white phone. The case is very snug with no creaking or rattling. I especially like the "frosted" texture- much nicer than the texture of the actual phone.
My only gripe is that the screen protector sucks, but it is just a thin plastic film held in place by the case- I should be able to find a better one that is compatible with the case. Any recommendations?

Like most of you, I've also been doing some research for a new case for my new 3G iPhone. Here are some of the ones that I found to be interesting. Has anyone here ever purchased one of these cases or has a lot of knowledge and experience about them? I only like the DLO one because it has the built in sliding stand. I am thinking about purchasing the Xylo or the Naked Case. What do you all think?

I ordered the Naked-Case by case-mate for the 3G iphone, it is a lot better then the Xylo, the Xylo is sort of cheap, and has a static cling to the screen which the Naked Case doesnt, also the Xylo's latch is sort of weak and comes undone to easy....Naked-case has a stronger case and is overall just a better version, its worth the Wait, however I need a temp Case before I get that one, I will probably by the Flick or something in the mean time.

Being that its clear I wonder about the fingerprints. It doesnt seem like there will be much but in the review the screen was loaded with them as expected though. Are you referring to the finger prints on the plastic part back of the Case? Who cares if finger prints get on a case ? The Screen is protected by the plastic cover, that using the technology so the touch sensors go through, the only problem with the Naked-Case is that is ships in a month to a month and a half.

Pretty much talking about both but I knew I would have to deal with them on the back as a consequence of getting a black one, no problems.
Just wondered how it would look is all.
It is definitely one of the best plastic cases I have seen as of yet.

That one made my v1.0 iPhone slip out its holster and get dinged at LAX. If your iPhone survived with it it's probably OK since the 3G is thicker.
I'm sticking with my Sena case for now.

What case should I get? It will be in my pocket most of the time and not on my belt.

I'm sure there are few others out there but I have used the invisishield (zagg.com) on all my devices (ipod, iphone, psp) and love it. It works great and is backed by a lifetime warranty. I am at the beach a lot and can get sand in my pocket without worring about it scratching. $14.

What are your opinions on the bodyskinz vs the ghost armor? I keep reading about this debate on ghost armor in this thread and some negative things about invisible shield but really not too mucha bout body skinz. BS seems a bit pricey for the 3G iphone vs the others.
I got a marware convertible arm band strap and it came with a clear static or w/e you call it skin for the front, i applied it and thought it was great but it seems to get more finger prints on it then the glass, is this how the other operate as well?
Also regarding the naked case it looks really good but not enough detailed pictures IMO, a review would be great but its too early. I would be sold on that case if it had a damn clip or was compatible to fit into a clip some how. I don't understand why 90% of the 3G cases I am seeing do not have any clips. If I get a hard shell case I want a clear, thin thin thin case with a damn clip.

For what it's worth, the iPhone's screen is tempered glass, MUCH harder than your average palm pilot. That said, it is still susceptible to cracking (when dropped from like 6ft onto concrete), perhaps more so with the now plastic backside. I've dropped my original iPhone multiple times onto blacktop from 3-4ft with no trouble. The screen only has one tiny scratch on it!

I have always had issues with cases as follows:
Hard case: I purchased the Agent 18 cover and it was great at fist, but then I had little particles get in the case and when I removed the case the back of the iPhone was all scratched up.
Rubber case: Impossible to use in your pocket. Eventually, they stretch and get loose.
Pouch case: Wearing it on my waist is dangerous. It can accidentally get bump and yank off my belt clip. Believe me this has happened to me.
Maybe something new will come out...

it was the only decent looking case available at the at&t store and it's pretty good..it has a silicone cover w/ a acrylic backing, the silicone covers all the metal buttons and has openings for the ringer/silent slider, headphone jack, and bottom port. It feels good in the hand..but waiting for the inCase 3g protective cover to come out, probably end up getting that a lil later.

I hear that the Incase slider case has rubber on the inside so it doesn't scratch like the Agent 18 case. Although it's hard on the outside, the rubber on the inside prevents the iPhone from moving around so it gets scratched by moving around against the small particles that go inside.

Just enjoy your iphone don't put crap on it :)
while i find your rant a bit extreme and over the top, i must agree... haha. I like having my iPhone naked. The screen is pretty impossible to scratch and I'm not going to have a fit if I get a few scratches on the back...

I bought a Griffin Wave for my new white iPhone and promptly dispensed with the plastic bit that goes over the front touchscreen. I prefer my touchscreen to be tactile the way Apple designed and created it. Right now I just have the back section snapped into place and am going to try that for a while, as I really don't like the looks of the iPhone with the front border piece. Last year I bought a couple of different cases for my original iPhone and one of them works quite nicely for the new iPhone as well, so I'll use that from time to time, too. I definitely do not want to put any sort of "shield" over my iPhone. I also like just carrying it "naked," as it feels sooo good in my hand or when I touch it in my pocket!

Yes, my old Incase fits perfectly. But this time I'm not going to let that POS case ruin my phone again so I'm putting a clear skin/shield on it THEN useing the Incase for when I'm in a more rambunctious situation.

Can anyone tell me if the "iQase PIVOT" fits the iphone 3g? They only list it as iphone right now.
I like that the iQase PIVOT can rotate, has magnets, and a really clean design.
I also saw the Marware "C.E.O.™ Premiere for iPhone 3G"
http://www.marware.com/PRODUCTS/iPhone-3g-cases/iPhone-3G-C-E-O-Premiere
It seems ugly, I just want a simple black cover, not the dots and stuff (if it was like the OLD iphone Marware case, it would be perfect.. though it would have to have magnets instead of velcro).
It is difficult to find many reviews on horizontal cases in general.. anyone have some direction? I am new to iphones in general, so I am not that good on where to look.
Thanks,

because I thought silicone case is warmer than plastic case.
I bought Bone collection's bubble case and cube case.

it's can protect my iphone even it slipped from my hand,

Don't forget to buy some gloves too. Then you might also want to wear some protective glasses to protect your eyes against UV reflections from the screen. If I were you I'd actually get a robot to hold your iPhone and then I'd control the robot from a remote control. But then I'd want to protect the remote control with a plastic skin and then I'd shock proof it with a full body case. I love my iPhone soooooooooo much.

Like everyone else, I'm in the market for a case/protection for my new iphone 3g.
I've ordered the ghost-armor based on some reviews here and on some blackberry forums. I liked the pictures posted here. There isn't nearly as much orange peel or noticeable texture as the invisible shield. That orange peel would drive me absolutely nuts, but maybe I'm just more sensitive to it. Some people probably don't really even notice it - just like they don't on their car's paint.
I'm thinking about getting a rubberized case also for times when I'll be in situations where I feel I have a higher chance of dropping it (working out, etc). I'm hoping there are some good options here that will fit over the ghost-armor. The "Incase Protective Cover" (http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS490LL/A?n=iphone2&fnode=home/shop_iphone/iphone_accessories/cases&mco=MTI5OTQ3OQ&p=1&s=topSellers) from the apple store looks pretty good to me, but I'll have to check it out closer at the store.
Just an FYI for everyone too - while I'm waiting for my ghost-armor to arrive, I found that my oakley sunglasses soft case (the silk feeling one) fits my iphone rather perfectly. Makes me feel better about having it in my pocket at least until I get my hands on a "real" case. So if anyone is nervous while case shopping, you might already have an oakley (or another soft sunglasses case) on hand that you can use in the mean time.
I'll let you guys know how the ghost armor works out after I get it. I'm thinking that if the screen portion doesn't work out well for me, I'll probably take that part off and go with the Power Support Crystal Film. Or if the whole thing sucks, I'll try the BSE next.

I have an otterbox too for my first gen, and I highly recommend it, especially if you do a lot of outdoors activities. I've dropped it in a pond (while listening to it), sat on it, and my dog has stolen it, and my phone doesn't have so much as a scratch. That case is freaking tough. And I don't even have the full waterproof model.
They were supposed to put out their 3G version on Friday, but it seems to be delayed. In my case, that's alright, because my new phone is delayed as well. Can't wait for both, though.

Since I got my iPhone in the mail today (a full two to three days before I expected it :D), I decided to pick up something to protect it before I activated it. I got one of these http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=457217 (black and red) as a temporary case, since it was the only case I could find, and I'm thinking of getting the Naked Case (so the 4-6 week wait won't be as bad). But the more I use this one the more I'm beginning to like it. I just don't like how the screen protector that came with it is just that. A screen protector. Doesn't cover the areas around the earpiece or the click button. I might just spring for the Naked Case anyway and see if I like that one better. btw, if I get the Naked Case and keep the screen protector on, would the edges of the screen protector scratch the surface of the iPhone?

I call BS and BS on all the newbie first time posters asking about and citing the glories of Ghost Armor - A Company most everyone here has never ever heard about before!I have no affiliation with IS or ghost-armor and I have no reason to promote either one, I'm just looking for a good film for my phone.
Based solely on the pictures I've seen online, the invisible shield appears to have much more orange peel than the ghost-armor. I'll know for sure when I get the ghost-armor in, but the one thing I do know for sure is that the IS DOES have alot of orange peel, and that look is not for me, personally. If the ghost-armor turns out to have as much orange peel then I'll be taking it straight off.
From these pictures, however, I can't see as much orange peel as in a number of IS photos I've seen, such as these:
IS: http://justanotheriphoneblog.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/orange001.jpg and http://justanotheriphoneblog.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/orange002.jpg (from http://justanotheriphoneblog.com/wordpress/2008/03/07/review-full-body-invisibleshield-for-iphone/).
vs
Ghost armor - http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124451&d=1216007455 and http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124452&d=1216007455 and http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124449&d=1216007455 (from http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=499639&page=5).
I do wish there was a full on shot of the screen of the phone with ghost-armor, but from every angle that there is a shot from, I really can't see any significant orange peel. Just a little bit of texture, but not peely. The back of the 3g phone with ghost-armor looks nearly perfect, but I guess it could be just because it's mostly black and not reflecting much. Anyway, as long as the back looks as good in person, I figure the worst case scenario, I'll leave the ghost armor on the back for that awesome look, and use a power support crystal film on the front for clarity.
I'm not like a super advocate of ghost-armor or anything, I just know for sure that I don't want invisible shield based on the pictures I've seen online, and I like the idea of a skin, so I figured I'd give ghost-armor a shot. When I get it on, I'll give a quick review and snap some more photos so everyone can judge better for themselves.

Well I know that my Ghost Armor order has been sent out now, so it is on the way. I will look forward to giving people my thoughts on it when it arrives.
Also, I have been in contact with the Ghost Armor people and have reported that it seems like some of their employees are on these boards shamelessly doing false-advertising etc, and I have given the person the links to 2 of the threads that they have been posting in. They seem like they want to stop those posters from doing it (if infact they are their staff). So they said they would look into it (and they sounded genuine). So hopefully these stupid posts will stop and we can then get good feedback about Ghost Armor.
Anyway, it will take a few more days at least for me to get my order (im in Australia, and I think it was sent out 2 days ago from USA).
Stay tuned from me...
Cheers,

IS was the original other companies have popped up and made there concept better which is the nature with any good idea. Who came first? Microsoft or Apple ? And now look who is on top. All I'm saying is try new things. You know I'm all for GA. I didn't like IS that was my own experience. I do agree IS website is very cool. No doubts there. Seriously, I strongly recommend the Power Support Crystal Shield from Apple. Or Power Support directly. I think the anti-glare version has more texture? But if you search on it, you'll find good reviews. I cannot tell the difference between it and the glass. No lie. There are reviews at iLounge also.

Last year I bought my first (original) iPhone on Launch Day. I bought a case for it at that time, then later bought a couple of others. None of these involved using anything which would cover the iPhone's touch screen. A year and a few weeks later, I look at that same touch screen and see no scratches, no evidence of any sort of damage, even though I've carried that iPhone with me everywhere, stashed in pockets, stashed in purses..... The tempered glass used on that thing is pretty impervious to damage. The rest of the iPhone's body also shows no damage, even after a year-and-something's daily use.
So I buy the new 3G iPhone and I look at all the cases available on Launch Day in the Apple store.... I come home with a Griffin "Wave." It didn't take me long to figure out that I was NOT going to use the protective plastic bit meant to go over my iPhone's screen.
The LAST thing I would ever do is to put some sort of more-or-less permanent stick-on film "protective" covering all over my iPhone (or, for that matter, all over my MBA, which remains as gloriously naked as the day I brought it home and began using it).
Apple designs these gorgeous products to be enjoyed not only visually but in a tactile way as well.... why on earth spoil that?

I have the Belkin case because it was the best one they had at the Apple Store when I bought my phone, but as the review on Apple's site notes, it's really difficult to get the phone out of the case once it's in there. It also sits a little funny towards the bottom, like there's too much room there.
It'll do until I can get another case.

I think IS is the best. I have tried BG and BSE. Remember guys, you get what you pay for.
I cannot comment on Ghost.
Anyway, having said that, I am going to get 3 or 4 BSE back covers and will use Power Support for the front. For me, this seems to be the best solution. Here is why...
I just installed an IS today, and boy am I glad i ordered 2. I was trying to be careful and dropped the darn thing. It landed on my shirt and picked up some lint that I couldn't get off. Damn. So I now am at the point of wanting several less expensive skins that can be replaced when needed. This is especially true for me, since I have a white iPhone. I used IS on my white Touch (HTC with VZW). Eventually, dirt shows on the edges of the skin. Looks bad on white.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Not wanting to get into comparisons of GA vs IS vs BG here, but I'd like to know if anyone can absolutely confirm if the Ghost Armor:
1) Has a single back piece that covers the bezel on the 3G iPhone
-or-
2) Has separate bezel pieces
Basically I don't want the bezel covered as I think it tends to look terrible. Most of the shield products cover it part way and that looks even worse.
I really only want a shield to protect the back. When I'm doing anything more active I'll use a silicon or leather case over the top.
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks,
Tom

Ok so I was online and googled ghost armor to show my buddies how cool this stuff is and the second thing i see on google is ghost armor sucks???? I think not!! I will be quick to jump to there defense because I have had it on my Ipod Touch 16Gb for 4 Months and it is brand spankin new! Here are some pics of it. I dont understand how you could possibly hate on this product? I absolutley love it!Based on that bottom left photo, there does seem to be more orange peel that I thought / hoped for, but still doesn't look as bad as IS.
I think I need to see these skins in person to get a true feel for them.

Just got back from the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL and have pics of the Agent 18 Clear case. I went with this one because it can dock in the universal dock using the supplied dock adapter and still shows off my white beauty.:p
How is this case working out for you so far? I'm a huge fan of Agent 18, but have only had the EcoShield so I'm wondering how this fits the 3G. I'm trying to justify spending $37.00 after shipping on a case that I've not seen in action. Also, if anyone out there has an Agent 18 promo code for the iPhone cases it would be awesome if you would post it.

I ordered it from the Apple Store and got it three days ago and have been using it since. It replaced an Agent18 (black) that I really didn't like. It's called the Griffin Nu Form and I LOVE it! Thin, dockable and stylish.

Just ordered a Gelaskin. I have one on my MBP and I love it. I'm not expecting this to really protect my 3G from falls or any serious damage, just to keep it from sliding around on my car's center console, and to give it a fresh look. It will also prevent the back from getting all scratched up over time, so that's a plus. As for the front, I'm keeping it naked. I've read a lot about good experiences with no protection so I'm goine to give it a shot :)
I'll post an update when it comes in the mail and I install it.

What i plan on doing is getting a screen protector either bodyguardz or ghost armor (front only) and keeping it inside a case-mate naked for the 3g. Do you guys think this will interfear with the touch screen's performance?

I just ordered this case and am waiting for it to get delivered. Does it have a rubbery feel to it even though it's hard case? Or does it feel like the back of the phone itself (i.e. true hard plastic)? I don't like the rubbery feel to some griffin cases and I may return this one if it feels the same way.

Ill be going with the invisi-shield from invisibleshield.com.
I just finished installing it... I had a lot of trouble with the back, so I gave up on that, and I think I got some tiny specks of lint on the front, so it doesn't look perfect - that combined with the eggshell texture and I'm hating it (for some reason, I didn't mind it as much on my original iPhone). Not sure what to do.
Ok everybody Ive had it with the "who has the better case talk it has gone on to long" so this is what I did. I bought an Apple Iphone Full Body Kit from all 3 of the top film manufactures and tried each for 2 weeks and this is what I found out :
Did you really buy all those? I am having trouble deciding which one and price is a factor (it's not that I can't afford it, it's that I don't). Seems like a lot to spend. With all that research, pictures would have been good.
Should i get invisibleSHIELD or ghost armor? Which one do you guys think is better??
I wish there was a forum with a vote so we could view a lot of opinions easily :)
I'll let you guys know how the ghost armor works out after I get it. I'm thinking that if the screen portion doesn't work out well for me, I'll probably take that part off and go with the Power Support Crystal Film. Or if the whole thing sucks, I'll try the BSE next.
Please let us know your opinion. I am very sensative too and don't like the IS orange peel look. The Power Support Crystal Film is almost $23 just for the front after shipping - can this be purchased in stores?
! I think this might be cooler then any film. Except its bulky but still texting underwater with your Iphone!? Haha just imagine. go here to check it out www.otterbox.com
Thanks for showing that! It would be great for swim workouts!! I have already inquired about a 3G version :)
Seriously, I strongly recommend the Power Support Crystal Shield from Apple. Or Power Support directly.
I am leaning in this direction, it even comes with a cleaning film to make sure the dust is all gone (I cleaned so thoroughly before applying IS and didn't see a think, but there's stuff under it and it's difficult to remove once it is there, very frustrating). Where can one get this cost effectively?

I bought the Contour Flick, and I don't like it. In less than two days, the back of the case is getting all scratched up, and while I like the flicking open of the bottom for docking, it leaves the bottom of the iPhone unprotected.
After looking at malencar's Nu Form pics, I went for the black model, and it should be here by next week. This will be my 3rd case! And I still need a car charger.
Oy, upgrading.

The best for protecting and looking good is the Capsule from Switcheasy. I'll wait for their 3g version and get it. It doesn't scratch the chrome bezel like these crystal cases. Dropping it ( it will happen ) is not a problem with these guys. The iPhone will survive without a scratch with this on.

All I do is smack talk Ghost Armor? I never did. Not once. I'm smack talking you and your buddies that come here singing the praises of this product. You don't even apparently HAVE a 3g phone. Maybe not even a 2g phone! You claim extensive reviews, which we see you did yourself. Not ONE SINGLE Picture do you post. I smack talk Ghost "all day"? LOL
I have Invisible Shield for my MacBook Air. I have Power Support Crystal Shield for my 2g iPhone screen - and I'll never use another product for the screen on anything because it's the best. Period. For my 3g back, I have Invisible Shield, Bodyguardz, and BestSkinsEver. I'm done buying shields and not ordering your product. Mostly because of you & your pals.
Ok im lazy and never post on here, much prefer to just read and learn. But im so over this GA bashing. Iv had in on my 3g for a week now and love it!!..
These pics below were shot in direct sunlight in extreme macro(upclose) mode. So this is the BEST condition to show any kind of texture. So if you THINK you see something, now you know why. Day to day, it looks crystal clear to me AND it pretty much stops all smudges!!
PS- Don't mind the funky clear case around it...and the dust is ABOVE the screen. I just forgot to clean it first.

I agree that using a condum is like wearing a rain coat to the shower, it just doesn't feel as good, but in my case, I use protection not cause I wiry about scratches, but because I tend to be a butter fingers and drop stuff fairly frequently. So I am looking at the iSkin, looks to have good impact (fall) protection.

I'm hoping you guys can help me out with my case dilemma. I'm going to get an iphone 3g sometime this week (i'm 80% sure i'm getting the 16gb black version). I'm waiting for the incase slider to be released in august, but in the mean time, i'm trying to decide between the griffn wave, contour flick, the marware sports grip, and the griffin elan form case. These are my concerns about all of them:
Griffin Wave: My sister has the 3g griffin wave, and it felt bulky and a little slippery, but the iphone felt really protected
Contour Flick: I took it out of the box at the apple store and it felt pretty flimsy. It didn't seem like it would do much protection if i dropped the iphone, but it would protect from scratches. Does it feel sturdier when it's acutally on the iphone?
Marware Sport Grip: I've always been a little skeptical of silicone cases because i've heard they stretch out. I know this one also collects a lot of dust, which might ruin the aesthetics of the iphone itself. It looks like it provides good protection though.
Griffin Elan Form Case: I also saw this case in the store, and i'm just unsure about the quality since i haven't put it on an iphone yet.
Which do you guys think would be the best option for me?
Thanks!

I know these cases are alotta money, but if you really want good protection and such, I would go with buy a clear hard shell/formed case and then a holster with a belt clip thats big enough to hold the phone with the case. So you can carry it around while you have the iphone covered in case ALL the time and you don't have to deal with the belt clip EVERY single time you want to use ur phone (which, I believe, will be more than just quite a few times). It would be awesome if there was a case package that came with a hard case with attachable belt clip and another attachable car mount and works with the dock. Wouldn't that be the PERFECT case solution? What do you guys think?

I have this as well, the quality is top-notch. It comes in a nice box and also has a fabric pouch. I like the fact that the side is not pinched and stitched together like most other sleeves. It is also lined with a velvety material which cleans the screen off really well when sliding in and out due to its tight fit. I broke the clip off due to its bulk, I never wear my phone on a belt. I just wished it had a small slit so that I can store my cleaning clothe.

Not often you see "At SwitchEasy, we are very anal with buttons." on a corp web page.Lol, I think they changed it to "At SwitchEasy, we are very conscientious with buttons."

They did! They must be watching this thread.
How about throwing a discount code our way!?!
I can't find any sites with reviews of this case but I really find it interesting.
Any review sites?

Is it easy to take off? You have a 3G iPhone right?
I have one of these cases on order but still want to know. haha.
I just pulled it right off. Although possible, the case did not suffer any tears when I did it. I can post a pic if you'd like.
Concerning skins, which one has the best tactility? I find the phone is pretty slippery. I just need to put one on the back and have it NOT wrap around the corners or the chrome. I like my phone naked like my Hooters wings.

I would love a vaja case, anything else I can find, and I've searched exhaustively and looked at every case posted here, looks like cack in my opinion. Just don't know if i've got the patience to wait for it...

I just received the Contour Flick in the mail, and I gotta say I'm liking it. Yes it's quite minimalist in its design, and yes it probably won't protect against drops worth crap, but I'm usually quite careful with my electronics. I just needed something to protect the back of the phone from scratches, and this does just that. I also like how my iPhone pretty much looks naked (adds very little bulk, glossy black finish).
What I don't like is the BSE front skin that arrived the same day. I guess I should have done more research, but just feeling its surface made me cringe. It's way too tacky to be on a touch screen like the iPhone. I'm not sure if it would be any different when it's applied and dried, but from what others have said about the back pieces I think it would be the same. I'm thinking I should return it for a refund and just get a PS Anti-Glare Film instead.
Also liking the Rebel. I'm just wondering how tacky the silicone would be. I've had a Belkin before the Flick and I really hated how much lint got on it, and how it never seemed to slide into or out of my pocket easily. If anybody could post a review when they get theirs in the mail?

I was going naked, but that looks like the case for me. I think I might do it... can you post some pics when you get it? I wonder how thick it is and how it feels. I don't think I'd use them, but I also wonder how the screen protectors would feel for daily use.
Lots of info on their site, I wish it showed the thickness of the case, both the thickness of the material and the overall thickness of the phone with the case on. I wonder if I should order it in black to make my white iPhone black, so I can have both, if I ever want to go commando :D

This one is exactly what I'm looking for....
http://www.more-thing.com/ultra-slim-silicone-case-for-iphone3g.html
I ordered 2 of these (cuz they were cheap) and thought I'd try different colors. Both didn't fit correctly. There were a lot of gaps that left it exposed and would allow WAY too much dust and dirt to get in and scratch it up. It wasn't contoured enough to really fit. Both of them fit differently had both had issues. I took them off immediately and still on my quest for the perfect case.

Crap....have one on the way...how bad is the fit? I am NOT worried about the dirt, etc. I just wanted a thinner skin similar to the OEM BlackBerry skins. I am not a fan of the thicker skins since I only use the skin occasionally.

Where is the INCASE SLIDER ..... PLEASE INCASE RELEASE IT

Had the Incase slider for the iPhone 2g. Originally wanted to get the slider for 3g. Instead tried out the Griffin Wave. Absolutely loving the wave. I don't dock my phone anyways and the grip is so much better with the Wave!
Also waiting for the Vaja Ivolution. Another 3 weeks to wait!

Hi there,
I had an Agent 18 Eco Shield my old iPhone. It was terrible and totally scratched the bezel. So I decided to buy a skin instead. I went for a BodyGuardz.
Installing it was really difficult and the edges didn't look good at all... so I took it off.
Now that I have an iPhone 3G, I don't know what to do : try a skin again or not ? Maybe I installed it wrong the first time.
I need something that covers both the back and the bezel in one piece. For the front I'm gonna stick with my Power Support Crystal Film that is just perfect. I also don't want something that appeals dust.
BodyGuardz don't seem to cover the bezel. Ghost Armor are (?) in several pieces. I don't know about InvisibleShield but a lot a people seem to dislike them. I also don't know anything about BestSkinsEver and iWrap skins.
- What would you choose ?
- Do these skins are durable or do they appeal dust after a few months ? Maybe someone that got one for the first iPhone can tell me.
I also like SkiniZi (http://www.skinizi.com/en/iphone-7/iphone-3g-21/new-york-450.html) and Gelaskins (http://gelaskins.com/catalog.php?Device=8&Category=25&p=1), but they don't really protect the whole back.

I ordered it from the Apple Store and got it three days ago and have been using it since. It replaced an Agent18 (black) that I really didn't like. It's called the Griffin Nu Form and I LOVE it! Thin, dockable and stylish.

I'll be looking for a good leather belt holster. I like that speck holster, but I bump into crap with my hips a lot, so i need some scratch protection on both sides. So far I haven't seen any I've really loved.
With all due respect but belt holsters should only be worn by superintendents and security guards, next to the maglite.
I recommend the Hard Graft products from Austria. They look great, are of great quality and quite cheap.

This case looks absolute amazing, I just realized there's many color options. Once reviews come in, if they're positive I'll definitely pick one up. It even comes with a screen protector!
