What is the oldest iPod you own that is still used on a [mostly] daily basis?

I am using a 4G iPod Photo 60GB at work and in my truck every day.
My wife still uses her 1G pink at her desk on most days.

5G 60GB bought as soon as they came out. As I now have less than 500MB free, it may soon be replaced with a Classic 160GB.

I'm still using my 3G 20GB. But the "enter" button hardly works anymore, thus making it the world's largest iPod Shuffle.

At least I can still read the display with the songs that I'm fast forwarding through.

3G 15GB is still going strong after almost 4 years. Battery is pretty much shot but I use it only at work in a dock from 7am-6pm. That's a lot of tunes in 4 years. :D

BTW, I loves me some lighted buttons on the 3G.

3rd Gen 30GB....stays in the car.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the 3rd gen iPod is the best traditional/classic style they ever made.

I think the Touch may have finally surpassed it now though...

My wife's 1gig Shuffle and my son's .5gig Shuffle are still working, though not used everyday anymore since they have both been replace with (her's) a 4gig pink nano and (his) an 8gig Touch.

As an aside the .5gig went through the washer. Some of the buttons are sticky but it still works.

512 first-gen shuffle. I've had two nanos since (one got passed on to my father; I sold the other and am now saving towards a Touch when the next generation comes out) but am back to the shuffle for now.

Same here -- 3G 15GB. Battery's pretty good. I even did the settlement-approved test and it passed (or failed, if I had wanted to lie and get the gift certificate). Goes for a while except if I leave it sitting around for a couple days.

I still use a 6gig iPod every day for an hour or so at the gym which I need to charge maybe once a week. Only issue I have with it is the songs I've downloaded from iTunes dont play sometimes unless I get the upgrades via iTunes.

I use my 1st gen. 10GB iPod daily as a paper weight - but it does still work to play music, although I've had to replace the firewire connector twice...hope it lasts, because there's not much left to solder it to on the circuit board. :)

Got a 1st gen. 4GB Nano that I use everyday.

The CF mod is basically replacing the Mini's microdrive with a CF card, which gives you longer battery life and the option to have storage up to 128GB. Works just like the original microdrive.

Anyway, I have a 5G 30GB iPod Video as my main iPod, not the current gen so I guess it's "old". Not planning on upgrading for a few years

2nd gen iPod Mini that normally sits in a drawer connected to my Xbox 360 as a media store. It's been about a year since the poor thing has seen daylight so just got it out now and absolutley amazed at how far the iPod range has come in three years. I guess we tend not to notice when it goes mini > Nano1 > Nano2 > Nano3 (to say nothing about the Touch) but when you hold a Mini next to the current Nano it's shocking, especially in the screen real estate.

I have replaced the battery on my 3G 15GB iPod, twice, and it still runs great!!! I am frankly shocked, that the hard drive is still running... but even when that chokes, I will replace it with a slightly bigger drive. I see no reason to upgrade, as I only need it for music. I listen to music @ work, 7 hours a day, 50 weeks... that's 1,750 hours a year, and I have been doing this for 6 years... that's 10,500 hours of music play!!! Amazing. I know most other folks would give up the ghost, upgrade to newer iPods with more features, but I guess I'm old school, my phone is a phone, my iPod is my music, and my computer is my internet. Someday I will get an iTouch, but for now I am quite happy with my 6 year old iPod. :D

My 20GB B&W is used every night to play bedtime songs for my son. It's one of the few ways we can routinely get him to sleep! So it's definitely serving a very vital function ~4 years after I first bought it.

30GB 3G (first Dock Connector model); it's effectively part of my clock radio, so the battery life isn't an issue. I keep a separate Firewire sync cable hooked up to my Mac so that I can put different music on it now and then.

I still use my 2nd Gen 10gig; it's my "car iPod." I did change out the battery a few years ago (when it was still my sole iPod). It's a great iPod for the car; with the "real" buttons, and not quite as sensitive touch, it's easy to scroll and find what I want without having to look at it.

Unfortunately, the hard drive is, I think, starting to go; if I try to skip through a bunch of songs in a row, it has a tendency to freeze and needs to be reset.

iPod - 3G - 20GB.

It's hooked up to a Tivoli Audio Kloss One next to my daughters bed. She uses it for listening to bedtime stories. The battery is almost dead, but its hooked up to the power adaptor, anyway. Otherwise it's in perfect working condition.

Oldest ones I use almost every day are a green 1G mini and the first U2 one, the one that was just audio. They both get used mostly in speaker docks, so their likely quite low battery capability is not an issue. And I rarely change up the playlist they're in, just hit pause and turn off the speaker and walk away, so they don't get a lot of drive wear.

I used a 15GB 3G iPod everyday until I got a Classic about 2 weeks ago. The 3G is my favorite iPod, I prefer the buttons to the click wheel because it doesn't take any pressure to active the 3G. You have the grip the Classic to push the buttons which is annoying when it's in a dock.
I still use the 3G in my car and when I go places I don't want to take the Classic.

Until I got my iPhone, I kept my iPod Video 5g in my car. It worked for that purpose, as my stereo powered it, but the thing itself won't hold a charge, so it's useless for anything else. It was replaced with my iPod Touch, though, so I guess that's now my oldest in-commission iPod. Bought the day they were released.

My 3G iPod nano (teal blue case). Still works quite well and I use it to primarily listen to podcasts (my 4G iPod nano is used to load music in a smaller form factor--the 6.5G iPod classic is just too big to fit into my pants pockets).

My six year old 3rd Gen 10gb iPod, usually used in the car, but will eventually be docked somewhere in the house to make way for the nano.

Battery is knackered..only lasting up to an hour on full charge! But i too love the lighted keys:D

imo Apple should have made the 3g design the classic.

I have to agree on the 3G design, the light up keys really sets it apart from other ipod classic designs. The 3G was my first ipod but it broke and apple swapped it for the 4G ipod i have now. I love the chunky feel of my 4G and it slowly soldiers on through each day. I've had to pop open my 4G a number of times to tap the hard drive to get the thing working again, and the poor ipod has the battle scars to prove it.

I'm not sure which one I have that is older...a 512 MB 1G Shuffle, or a 4 GB 2G mini. Both are from 2005, I think.

The shuffle still works like new, I use it at night when I'm going to sleep...because it's the only iPod I'm not worried about crushing when I inevitably rollover on top of it at night. :D :p

The mini is my "backup" iPod, for when I can' find my Touch or when it's battery is dead. (It happens a lot.)

Its battery is only a year old, but it's definitely dying...it's literally held together by duct tape, and the click wheel is very sensitive...press too hard in the wrong place and it does a full reset....which makes the battery indicator show a large loss in battery life. (It's possible to make this thing think it has 0% battery life in 15 minutes, from a full charge...of course as soon as you plug it back up, the indicator is full again.)

Silver iPod Classic 160GB bought in October 2007. Used every day because it is in my speaker dock in my bedroom and functions as an alarm clock in the morning.

I do have a lovely 20GB 3G iPod which I sometimes use just to listen to random songs but the battery on that has started to fade now.

The 4G (20 GB, monochrome screen) was my first iPod. I destroyed the battery on the 3rd day of ownership, by leaving it charging for over a day...battery life was 20-30 minutes after that. :( The HDD died about a year later, I gave it away to a friend who basically fried the logic board on it trying to replace the battery.

I'm sooooo tempted to grab one on eBay... But I have three iPods as it is, I sure as heck don't need another. :p:o

Between my black 32GB 3GS and black 5g 60GB iPod, they are used the most.

I also have a black 120GB iPod that will eventually replace my 60GB iPod and I just purchased a 4G 16GB Black Nano that I have yet to open and may not keep. I also have my 2G and 3G 8GB iPhone and one will have to go. Probably the 2G.
