I had to reformat the ipod and reinstalled everything correctly. However, in trying to update the ipod software to version 1.3 from 1.2.6 an error pops up saying there is an "ipod service error"

Any ideas??? I have no idea what to do. iTunes says that it is configured wrong and recommends reinstalling iTunes. How do I get 1.3 to work???

Thanks!!

(Running Windows 2000. Ipod DID work till computer was serviced. That's the reason for the reformat. Service pack was upgraded to "level 4".

Use the following updater to, hopefully, bring it back:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120236

And here's the URL to the iPod for Windows support page...

http://www.info.apple.com/usen/ipodwin/

Is this where you downloaded the original updater? Have you tried to run the iPod updater on a Mac to get it prepared then bring it back to Windows?

Thanks,

I haven't tried running it on a mac first. It is formatted for windows, so I was hoping that I can stay on that platform. It was bought about 2 months ago. Does Apple have free phone support for ipod for windows???

The 1.3 update you showed me is the one that wouldn't work.

no free phone support for the ipods, you can goto an apple store but tey don't support the change from mac to windows official even tho its easy and possible
