New Forum Record. Indirect Yahoo 'Buzz' Traffic

Yahoo has a relatively new digg-like site called buzz.yahoo.com. Anyway, stories can be featured on Yahoo.com's home page. This results in massive amounts of traffic. We were the indirect recipient when they linked to this story

about the iPhone Girl photos, which prominently linked MacRumors.com and the thread.

New forum record now is 24,892 on the forums. The forums mostly held up but got a bit slow. The front page died briefly and was slow. We were on "regular" traffic setup, rather than event (macworld) setup, so didn't handle it quite as well. It lasted maybe an hour or so.

Of course, in January all we had to talk about were the new MacBook air, iTunes Movie Rentals, Time Capsule, the iPhone SDK, Apple TV price drops, and other non-iPhone Girl topics.

As Knox noted in that thread, up until last year we had the forums turned off during Steve's keynotes, so our record was undoubtedly lower than it would have been had we been able to be up and running during those times.
