Sun is doing some really neat innovation in the Linux desktop space with something called Project Looking Glass (http://wwws.sun.com/software/looking_glass/index.html). I found this in an article at Wired about how all the Linux desktops are turning out to look eerily like Windows....well, not this one! It has a more Mac-like interface, with something resembling the Dock, and windows that can be rotated in 3-D to clear screen space. I just signed up for the mailing list--heck, I'd even buy an x86 PC to run it on.
