Hi guys,

I'm thinking of putting vista 64 on my mac. However I'm not sure what the requirements are, is it just a 64 bit processor? Have I got one? I have a core 2 duo if that helps.

Does vmware or parallels both support 64 bit windows?

Thanks for your help

Thanks for that reply.

I'm quite inexperienced on how windows runs on a mac, does it run reasonably quick or can you tell it's not being ran off a pc based system?

Is there any specific issues I should be wary of in regards to the 64 bit version? Can I run office on it even though that is a 32bit software package?

Thanks

Booting Windows on a Mac (Boot Camp) is no difference than any other PC. There's no speed penalty. Using virtualization software like Fusion or Parallels, on the other hand, will be slower but fine for most tasks probably.

I don't think there are any problems running 32-bit software on Vista x64.

Can anyone who has actually run Vista 64 bit in Parallels confirm it works OK? I have a choice of moving either 32 bit XP Pro or 64 bit Vista Ultimate onto my MBP when I get it, and Vista would be easier for me to move. I don't want to find any nasty driver surprises though.

Parallels 3 doesn't work. Parallels 4 is currently in beta and will be released soon in which it will work.
