On my PB, between the right Apple key and the left arrow ( or home) key there is a key with this symbol on:

>| (rotate 90 degrees anti-clockwise)

(I notice the symbol also appears at the bottom of the return key)

What is it?

Thanks

I could tell you, but if I did I'd have to kill you... Whatever you do, DON'T press it...

Seriously, I only noticed in passing before, but now I'm intrigued...

It inserts a page break in a word processing doc.

On the subject, i've looked everywhere but well the hell does this key do!

It's on the keyboard which came with my G5 which is the newer Apple White Pro WIRED keyboard (with USB ports at back not side). Next to = key and below lower volume key.. thanks!

The spot you note in your pic is where my number lock clear button is on my keyboard for an imac flat screen.

Eject looks just like the button you describe in the first post.

I think he means the enter key. Enter is different from Return in several programs--especially when using Virtual PC. On PCs, "return" *is* "enter".

I dunno, it seems kind of useless to me. Anyone ever use "enter" regularly?

Seemed like a waste of a key to me, so I remapped it to "control" using uControl on my iBook.

Take a look at Page 6 of this PDF (http://homepage.mac.com/atl/tex/AppleSymbols.pdf) for those symbols. (that arrow is "shift" and the key next to "hide others" is "option" (aka alt))

It's "enter" on my TiBook. I'm fairly sure that's what it is.

in proteus, i use the enter and return button seperetly alot. The return key jumps down a line, and the enter button sends the message

its sooo handy you wouldnt believe

...I was just looking for a way to make the active cell in an AppleWorks spreadsheet move right instead of down when you press Return, and in Prefs you can set up the Enter key to do just that. That's solved one irritation for me.
