Playing video with surround sound

Are there any video player for mac that plays .mkv and/or .avi files with surround sound?

I'm using the digital optical output on my 2008 mac pro...

Try VLC. Quicktime with Perian installed should work fine too.

I know it is more than a player, but it does the best for playback of mkv's... dual core usage etc..

It think VLC will work fine as well.

Plex.

it can even play everything better then QT and VLC.

Plex is more like Front Row than a simple standard video player.

I've never used it, though, and I've never had to play a .mkv file, so it may be a good choice.
