Have you tried using Target Disk Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661)?

connecting the two via ethernet would be the optimum way.
you navigate to your-user-name>pictures and copy the iphoto library folder to the other computer.

- target disk mode (easiest & fastest)
- IP over Firewire (fast)
- Ethernet (slower because the ibook still has 100Mb)
- WiFi (slowest)
- external backup to USB HDD/ stick or CD/ DVD device

Right, forgot about that. In that case leaves you with all the non-firewire options.
