I don't think its a Rev C. but rather just a price cut. I was hoping to see apple update the MBA line but unless I missed it in the keynote, the MB and MBP were shown a little love but nothing for the MBA.

Well, it's a 2.13 GHz SL9600 CPU! For $1799, how could it be wrong? Maybe just wrong for you without the 4 GB of RAM and bigger SSD??? How about a battery update???

Given the price cut, I'm not even really that disappointed by the lack of extra RAM. Assuming no major issues with rev C, I'm of the opinion that it finally represents a truly good value for the money.

Ouch, $700 loss in 3 months (March is when I bought my MBA) that has to be my worst depriciation ever when it comes to computers!

Actually more than $700 loss, as your rev.B is now 'old spec', so you're looking at another 100-200 hit on the resale value regardless.

But you know what, don't lose any sleep over it - everything these days, cars even houses are basically depreciating assets. Just enjoy your MBA - you probably wouldn't notice the speed bump anyway.

And if it makes you feel better, just think of those REALLY hurt by today's announcements.....those poor saps who have bought a MacBook in the last 3 months.....OUCH! :eek:

It pains me given I bought my MBA in March, but I just really didn't see this happening at WWDC. "Rats" with a capital "F". I have gotten to enjoy having an Air for over 2 months; however, not sure it was worth $700. You takes your chances and pays your prices.

How about people who bought them in the past few weeks...

I was almost tempted to go and buy a new Rev. A MBA or an updated Whitebook. Thank goodness I waited, these prices are great!

I think we're all feeling the same but I believe the SSD owners are feeling worse. I think I'll have to buy a few extra drinks for my good friend to thank him for his constant words of wisdom, "Jessica, you don't need an SSD be patient and wait for the HDD model ... it'll come."

It came and my loss is $300, which suddenly feels better than $700 and no SSD. :D

Not to mention the insane ;) increase in battery capacity from 37 to 40 wh and that the usb ethernet is now included... gawd I feel assjacked by apple.

Having bought my 1.86/SSD MBA last November, I feel like I've gotten good use out of it, so the (admittedly steep) price cut doesn't bother me too much.

In fact, given that the only upgrade was a fairly minor CPU one (unless they also bumped up the GPU - it doesn't seem conclusive yet that they have), I'm actually quite pleased that I bought mine when I did; I still feel like mine is still close enough to the new cutting edge specs.

And despite the major upgrades to the newly-dubbed 13" Macbook Pro, I think I'd still buy an MBA.

The 1.5 lb weight difference might not seem like a lot, but when you think about it as 50% extra and travel a lot, it actually is. The 4GB RAM and extra ports/SD slot are very nice, and similarly the superior battery life on the MBP is extremely tempting, but as far as advantages to the MBP go, that's about it for me.

Once you add a 128GB SSD to the cheapest 13" MBP model, it's only $100 less than the equivalent MBA. If you go ahead and add the 4GB RAM and faster processor, then the MBA actually becomes the better value machine. Given the significant weight trade-off (and the fact that I very rarely use a CD/DVD drive), I'd have to say that I'd still pick the MBA over the 13" MBP. The lack of an ugly glossy black bezel would just be a bonus...

i like the new updates but if they can put a new processor on it why ignore the RAm and why not change the bezel? makes no sense....any idea when they will change these?

Crazy they wouldn't upgrade the RAM capacity. The only thing stopping me from buying one of these which I would gladly pay an extra $100 for. The price drop was huge, but with all the updates to the laptops today, this seems pretty basic. Will probably just buy a 13" MBP in a couple weeks.

My guess is that the MBA will be upgraded in a few months or early 2010 if it is correct that they are trying to make it less heavy. Maybe then they will come up with more RAM and optional 256 GB

I still dont understand why they didnt put the new track pad on there... seems like the only thing "missing" to make it whole with the rest of the laptop line up... especially for a laptop that theoretically would see a mouse paired up to it less frequently than the other models, on account of its portability (though I never use a mouse with my macbook). There really is no going back once you use the glass track pad. My work issue dell laptop/trackpad is terrible to use after using my macbook. Just sorta weird :confused:

Looks like an interim update. Recent SSD purchasers have been hit hard by the price drop. Just shows how much Apple was making on one sale as their margins will still be high, even after the cut.

The 2.16G SSD AIR looks good and seems to be best value compared to prior pricing. It is a shame they kept the 2Gb RAM limit. 4GB would be great but I expect Snow Leopard does not need so much RAM and people who runs virtualization on this machine is just compromising it way too much.

I am curious if the 1.8inch SSD drive still uses that STUPID LIF connector rather than standard micro-sata connector. Wild guess anyone ?. Surely LIF, it is Apple ain't it ?. hello

What do you mean by "compromising"? I run Fusion on my rev. B without any problems. Obviously I'm not doing anything terribly taxing on the Windows side, but it runs very smoothly... Other than that, I agree that 4GB RAM would be nice, but it's far from an essential upgrade at this point.

Where is NC MacGuy (http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?u=47418) when you need someone to make a purchase, go home and crack it open to see if the inerds have been changed to make up for the speed bump? :p

HAHA, true. However, after a month, I am sure we will see complaints if the airflow = not good.

I am not getting one till August anyway.
