iphone 3gs not jailbreakable?

I wonder if apple has taken steps to eliminate jailbreaking on iphone 3gs? I am interested in the fone as long as it can be jailbroken...

It's pretty much impossible to make something absolutely unjailbreakable. They can make it harder, but eventually, a good hacker will find a way.

I really don't think apple works too hard at making the phones unable to be jailbroken. Its probably very easy for them to put in a hardware chip with certain encryption to ensure the phone isn't jailbroken.

Tethering is huge for me and it's probably the main reason I'm going to want jailbreaking in the 3GS. Of course, if ATT didn't suck as bad as they do (like every other US carrier) then this wouldn't be an issue. :rolleyes:

Verizon charges extra for tethering, what's your point? Oh you mean Sprint, that is loosing thousands of customers per day - yeah they have to due whatever they can to retain customers. Let's not talk about T-Mobile, their data just sucks.

One thing people fail to remember, Sprint used to be one of the most expensive providers.

I would like a "decently" priced tethering and data bundle too! The only carrier you can really compare AT&T to is Verizon. Both of them are within $1-2 of each other in cost depending on rate plan and add on features.

I wouldn't ever bother with jailbreaking if I had the option to put different sims in my phone (for travelling), but as it stands, if someone can enable that, I would gladly pay in the region of £30/$50 for it (although this REALLY should come as standard).
Until then, I won't even consider a 3GS.

The only things I jailbroke my 2G phone for was tethering and video. Got video capture now, and if the 3GS is as fast as they say, I might not care about tethering either.

I think the bigger, more notable thing is that, throughout the lifespan of the iPhone 3G, there still hasn't been a truly simple, straightforward unlocking solution that worked at the level of functionality that Pwnage Tool provided with 2.0 on the original iPhone. Yellowsn0w works, but it isn't without problems.

I'll be curious to see if, now that basebands will probably stop being updated on the iPhone 3G in favor of concentrating on the 3GS, we get a long-term, stable solution for 3G unlocking.

I may JB to get Slingplayer to work via 3G, but haven't decided if the 30 bucks for the Player is worth it yet. I wouldn't use it THAT much, if at all, and I can set my DVR via the DirecTv app.

How about tricking the iPhone to think your are on Wifi and use 3G to stream video from Sling?!

Love the lockscreen. I use a simular one but it doesnt show all yours does. What app are you using to get all the notifications to show at once.
