help viewer has stopped working and keeps crashing. when i go to finder and go to help i get the help screen up but it is blank with only the search field and main window showing. it wont let me do a search. however, if i open a new window it works fine until you have performed a search and it quits out again. any ideas please help?
ps. when it asks to send a report it mentions kernal errors?

Try some of the solutions at this site (http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/helpviewer.html). In particular, I've found that deleting the following files/folders will usually fix these types of problems:

Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.help.plist
Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpui.plist
Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist
Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui/

thanks for your help all better now, cheers.

on a different note recently updated the security from the apple downloads as recommended ny apple and since then mail keeps asking for my keychain password all the time and mail keeps hanging as it tries to retrieve mail so long in fact that the server rejects the request. any ideas. have seen lots of posts on apple website about this.
