View Full Version : What did you do on Summer Solstice?

Being the longest day, I stayed out until dark on backyard lawnchair and played guitar. Nothing wild, just enjoying what would be the longest daylight day of the year. In the Northern hemisphere this year, every day from now on will get shorter.

I also used to use the after dinner hours to walk and skateboard around town since it was light out, walk the dog, and other activities. When it gets dark in a couple of months right after dinner, I will probably be in watching more tv and reading.

How about you guys?

Huh, I thought it was unusually light at 9:30 PM. :p

I went to the theater and watched "The Hangover".

Went mountain biking, drank Guinness, and ate pad-thai. Now, none of your business!

Slaughtered a few goats, did some dancing and collapsed after trying to build our own Stonehenge.

I called my dad (yesterday was also Father's Day), had a nice little chat with him, and spent the rest of the day lamenting the fact that it was consistently over 80º inside my house.

I spent the day worshipping the person who invented air conditioning.

It rained and I was dealing with a rare summer nor'easter so all I did was try to keep my kids entertained indoors

So on the longest day of the year you sat in the dark? Awesome.

I sat on a plane, squished in the center seat between two people, which was interesting considering it was me who busted ass to check in right away to ensure the best seating possible.

Southwest?

Check in online 24 hours before your flight, you're almost guaranteed to be one of the first to board.

I went to work and saved lives for about 8 hours while the weather here was utterly amazing. Yup.

Slaughtered a few goats, did some dancing and collapsed after trying to build our own Stonehenge.A similar story here, although our festivities were almost spoilt by a policeman nosing around the island looking for a missing girl.

We didn't burn him, honest. :o

It was Father's Day, and my dad wanted to see a movie. *shrug* ;)

We drove to Alabama to pick up a '76 GMC motorhome that my dad bought. A father's day gift for himself. Plus I got some hours in for my temporary license.

Was I the only one?

I went to a Summer Solstice party on the night of the 20th. But only about ten of us stayed past midnight. My crowd is not in our 20s anymore, that's for sure. :p

Yikes, got it. :)

Anyway, today was sunny and it's still light out at 8:30 p.m. unlike yesterday which was overcast so it was darker at this exact time. I am going to miss the daylight into later hours.
