Is this product even for sale yet? I think a few companies already have plans to make such a product, but no products have been released for sale.

Could you possibly use this device along with a male HDMI to male DVI conversion cable to run a PS3 in 1080P on the 24" LED Cinema Display?

I'm curious, why can't it just be an adapter like the mini display to HDMI?

I'm curious, why can't it just be an adapter like the mini display to HDMI?

DVI or HDMI for that matter use a different video signal than mini displayport. When you plug in one of the MDP to DVI/HDMI adapters your computer adjusts the signal for the output port. Its along the same lines of how a DVI to VGA adapter converts the signal from digital to analog.

But if you go the other way from DVI/HDMI to MDP the device with the DVI/HDMI output doesn't know how to convert the signal into MDP output because it wasn't designed for MDP, hence the need for an expensive converter, which I will inevitably buy(if it works) so that I can FINALLY use my PS3 on the 24" LED :D
