SchneiderMan and Mike Teezie- NICE! Both of those are really great looking stands.
Mike- I really like the symmetry of your whole setup, and that dark wood is awesome. Was the stand originally that color, or is it stained/painted?

They are not worth mentioning ;) No but seriously they are some old boxes i got from my uncle, i changed all the elements (mid, bas and tweeter) to elements intended for car audio, the bass drives is 12" and works quite well.
I am not a bass person, i am more on clear sound, i really want a B&W setup (cm9, cmc2, cm5 and 2x velodyne SPL-1200r) but i cant afford it right now, i am 22 years old and dont have a car yet so i will focus on that first.
Wow, i really went offtopic with useless information ;)

Thanks. My dad is a custom furniture designer, so I had him build the media stand for me. I had it stained it the dark color to match my dark floors.
I used to have a big round run in there, but I got tired of it. I'm looking for something else now.

Here is my Samsung Series 7 55" 120 hz. LED LCD TV. The TV is only 29mm thick and hangs like a picture. The Samsung 3.1 sound bar below it with wireless sub. Love that tv, been looking at the samsung LEDs for a while. Did you hang the tv with the samsung mount (picture style), from the picture it looks completely flush but I'm guessing there's a bit of gap between the wall and tv.
What about the backlighting, the only concern I had with the reviews of the tv was the led side-lit backlighting. They say that in dark scenes the entire backlight dims not just the black areas. Any problems you've seen?

Yes I used the Samsung cable mount. It was strange handing a TV like that and NOT in a stud. The TV is almost completely flush. Its 1.5" from the wall to the front. Its so flush I caught myself complaining about connecting the cables :).
I have no issues with the backlighting at all. The benefits FAR out weight any drawbacks.

My old PS2 you have to close the DVD drive with the button or the games don't work. You can't push it shut. Also the front cover on the DVD drive falls off so much we don't even bother to put it back on
And a few games with hard drives to hold them in place
Hope they were dead ones or so small that they are useless (>40 GB)

That's too bad, with mine you can still push the DVD drive shut. I haven't had any problems with it at all other than the laser problem, although it took <30 minutes to fix.

I bought most of this stuff a few years ago: Pioneer 50" 720p plasma, Yamaha HTR-6090 A/V receiver, Infinity TSS-4000 fronts, center, and subwoofer, and TSS-1100 surrounds, Slingbox AV, AppleTV, Yamaha DVD player, Oppo HDMI switch, Comcast HD STB, and a Sanus AV stand.
edit: FWIW the Yamaha AVR was sold and replaced with a Denon 2310 and the Oppo HDMI switch sold as it was no longer needed since the Denon AVR has 5 inputs compared to 2 for the Yamaha.

My room is crazy small with 3 full-size doors and a double-window, so there's hardly any wall space. In reference to the above pics, my desk is on the wall to the left, my bed is on the wall opposite, and the window takes up the wall to the right. So, I have the 3-drawer MALM dresser under the tv with the BILLY bookcase holding the electronics.
I wish I could have the speakers centered and symmetrical under the tv, but this is the best setup I could come up with without building everything myself.

Mind the quality. The iPhone 4 is still not very good at handling dark situations..
Anyways. A Philips Ambilight 47" as I reckon.
And No, the ambilight was equally around the TV, it's just the tap-to-focus thing that causes the difference in the picture.

Buy about the projector. You NEVER want to put a projector in a room where there's any windows unless you have black curtains and have a LED or LCD for the daytime.

Some really great setups in here, I would love to have a dedicated home theatre room, but our house is a little on the cozy side (not complaining mind you).
Here is the living room setup:
http://www.griffin.net.au/D70/HTPC/POR_38637.jpg
Samsung Series 6 40" 1080p LCD panel
Onkyo TX-SR706 Receiver
JBL LX series fronts (bi-amped), center and rears
Sony Active 12" Sub
HTPC running XBMC (Core i3 2120, 4GB, 32G SSD, GT430)
AEBS - wired to the GigE LAN
Apple TV2 - since been wired to the AEBS
Cable Box
Samsung BD-Player
Black Wii
LHS contains the HTPC, BD player, Cable TV box.
http://www.griffin.net.au/D70/HTPC/POR_38638.jpg
RHS contains the AMP, AppleTV2 (NHL Gamecenter only), IR receiver for HTPC.
http://www.griffin.net.au/D70/HTPC/POR_38639.jpg
And showing just how small my little living room really is.
http://www.griffin.net.au/D70/HTPC/POR_38640.jpg
Family room is just simply for our Son so he can watch his TV shows or Movies when we want to watch something else.
Hitachi 27" 720p LCD panel integrated speakers :)
HTPC running XBMC (Core i3 530, 4GB RAM, 80GB SATAI) - wired to GigE LAN
Toshiba DVD player
http://www.griffin.net.au/D70/HTPC/POR_38619.jpg
All of our media, music, movies and TV shows are ripped and stored on a NAS (FreeNAS 8) that sits in the garage and is connected to the GigE LAN. It has two ZFS pools, one raidz1 of 6 x 2TB drives (media) and the other a mirror of 2 x 1.5TB drives (data).

Mind the quality. The iPhone 4 is still not very good at handling dark situations..
Anyways. A Philips Ambilight 47" as I reckon.
And No, the ambilight was equally around the TV, it's just the tap-to-focus thing that causes the difference in the picture.
didnt they stop making those tv's? i love it though i was so interested in getting one at one time

the wall mounted tvs look so nice mounted on the wall with the wires hidden into the wall. It just doesnt look good when you use wire track runners to hide them.
I want to do the wires in the wall, but the more i read about it the more complicated it got. specifically because of fire codes. you cant just run the plug into the wall. even the dvi cables have to be a certain kind. Its not my house so I have to go by the fire code in case anything happens.
Maybe in February I will pay an electrician to install a plug behind the tv. then it would just be a matter of dvi cables. anyone know what the typical cost if there is a plug below it near the floor to install one higher up.

I added the outlet behind the TV myself, it's part of what I do. Speaker wire should be CL2 rated if you are doing surround. The only wires I have running down the wall are 2 HDMI cables (one is a spare as the receiver carries all signals in one HDMI wire).

I just hung my Samsung 55 LED 7100, and wired the components to the Pantry. I have a lot more that I want to add, including speakers in the ceiling, but I'm doing one thing at a time :)
I will never understand why people choose to hang a TV over the fireplace. It's just too high, and it looks like "New Money."

That looks absolutely incredible. I guess it's just the small bezel of the TV but it looks amazing.

Frankly I've never associated hanging a TV over a fireplace with money and the comment just sounds absurd. I doubt these people are trying to portray wealth by where they mount their TV unless it's underwater in an indoor pool filled with mineral water. The mounts are the same price regardless unless you buy something called a down and out mount.
As for the TV over the fireplace, my issues with furniture placement could be fixed if I mounted my TV over the fireplace but I too find it way too high. Many probably do it because it has been a trend for a while where even housing developments are building niches into walls over the fireplace for TVs. I know my parents did that and frankly it's silly but their room is large so somehow it does actually work.

As for the TV over the fireplace, I agree. HDTVs are such a common item nowadays that hardly anyone will associate having a big TV with being wealthy. Pretty much any Joe Blow can get one.

I chose to mount it above mine because I don't use the fireplace (We use the one in another room) and simply because of the shape of the room. The length is at least twice the width and it allows me to do more with the space.
As far as too high, I have no trouble with the viewing angle. Feet up relaxing straight on pic and a shot from the second couch.

Yes, it is a bit high, but I also have the same signal running into the ASUS display hanging off the side of the desk. The office chair reclines like a lounger, so I usually push it back, put my feet up on the desk and recline if I am watching it. It tilts down, so that helps. When I am working at the desk, I use the ASUS instead.

Some of you guys have your TV's way too high. Eye level or slightly higher while seated on a couch is best. Above mantels or as high as a door frame seems like you're looking up all the time. Like sitting in the front row at a theater.

The effect your talking about might be the 120 hz. the newer tv's well specifically the 120 hz tvs have an entirely different picture. it would look strange or like a home camera setup for someone not used to it. I dont know of any way to turn this off other then go back to a 60 hz tv.

Hey Guys,
Saw this thread and thought why not and works well as i just purchased a new tv :D
So after owning my faithful Sony Bravia TV for 4 years i decided it was time to upgrade and purchase a new TV. As the last TV has been so good to me i decided that i would like to purchase another Sony Bravia TV.
After looking around i found the perfect one. Its a Sony Bravia 32" LED Smart TV. My last one was also only 26" so i wanted something a little bigger this time, more so for when I'm watching films :)
Anyway now lets post the images.
Before it looked like the image below. 26" TV, Xbox 360, Sky+, PS3 and deodour backlights from ikea (very good).
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c152/mike2fast/setup/tv.jpg
So then we come to the new tv. Curently still on the same stand but it is going to be wall mounted hopefully next month. Nothing's changed really apart from having sky hd installed which i had previously with the last tv.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c152/mike2fast/setup/IMG_0127.jpg
Then we come to my workspace area. iMac 21.5" 2011, Macbook Pro 13" 2010 and iPad 1st gen 32GB 3G.

1.5 TB WD Elements drive
40 GB tv
1 TB DB Time Capsule
Swan M10 Speakers
My room is crazy small with 3 full-size doors and a double-window, so there's hardly any wall space. In reference to the above pics, my desk is on the wall to the left, my bed is on the wall opposite, and the window takes up the wall to the right. So, I have the 3-drawer MALM dresser under the tv with the BILLY bookcase holding the electronics.
I wish I could have the speakers centered and symmetrical under the tv, but this is the best setup I could come up with without building everything myself.
Do you use the Swans for the tv? How is that?

This is my 'man cave' if you can call it that. Im 17 and this room was a storgae room with tons of junk and i cleaned it out and bought a futon, new tv stand, and new fan and everything else ive had. It came together but its still a work in progress. Debating if i should get netflix or not for my tv.
--- im looking for some cool floor lamps and if you guys have any ideas about what would cool in it reply on here or hit me up. Im was thinking about doing it a movie theme with movie posters and other cool posters.

Well - now I am TV-less. My TV got hit by a marble tonight, and I am too broke to afford a new one right now. Maybe when I finish this last semester. Ugh.
