View Full Version : Ellen Feiss high???

Taft

MacSlash is covering this story...

The Ellen Feiss "switch" commercial (high school looking girl complaining about a PC eating her homework...) has been pulled from Apple's site. There is rumor that it has been pulled because Ellen was high when they filmed the commercial.

What do you guys think???

The ad (still available on Apple's site, but no links to it). (http://a772.g.akamai.net/5/772/51/740ddf1beffe42/1a1a1aaa2198c627970773d80669d84574a8d80d3cb12453c02589f25382e353c32f94c336ad168aed55/ellen_feiss_m320.mov)

As for it being pulled, her face and link are still there, but not the vid. Her vid was down last night as well. Maybe a last minute decision by Apple? I highly doubt it's anything but a technical problem, but the material for jokes in that vid is amazing.

Holy crap, she's flying higher than a kite!

Either that or there's something terribly wrong upstairs...

I can't believe they didn't catch that, LOL. And heck yeah, she's pretty cute. (But there's no way I'd go out with someone that does any ***** like that, if'n that be the case here.)

I woke my dad up this morning laughing so hard from the Will Ferrell one. :D :D :D

Beauty is subject to interpretation, and the above post is my interpretation of them. Some of them are average or better but others make me change channels when they come on the tv (although not nearly as fast as that dell commercial kid). It's just the brutal truth.

Just for the record, I am not the best looking guy around, and I know it and don't care either. I have seen far uglier people then any of those in the Apple ads, so take it with at least a few grains of humor, which is how it is intended. :D

IF I was dead serious, there would not be any smiles in the post. :p :D

BTW, as for Ellen being a 'stoner' how many of you have looked like that while in school and NOT on any drugs?? Without knowing someone you cannot say that the person is on drugs. For all you know, she has allergies to something in the air. That can make your eyes red faster then a five dollar... well, you know the rest. :D

Ellen is a real person, not an actress or a politician who are "fair game" for this kind of talk.

In fact, she is someone's daughter and she is probably someone's sister and maybe someone's granddaughter.

Several people owe them an apology, imo.

Mike Myers as Austin PowerMacs.... In fact why not have Mike impersonating these oddballs as a reprise?
P.S. I seriously doubt that this campaign would work here in Europe.......FAR TOO DULL!
The more folk desperately try to appear 'normal 'in front of a camera, the odder they appear..!
The line I interpret from these ads is that these characters are running from Windows.....NOT running to Apple.

These are regular people. Not actors. They're supposed to be approachable, realistic... and sometimes appearing not so bright.

"Even stupid people on drugs can use our computers. But, there's cool stuff for the office, multimedia, and geeks too". Something for everybody.

She looks pretty young, though. I'd say late high-school, MAYBE early college. For those of you accusing others of being perverts, you're forgetting all of the youngsters on these forums. She'd be a high-school geeks dream girl.

Little young for me (I'm in my 20's), and kinda... you know, out of it ;) I think. But I can see why she'd be popular for the teens and pervs. She seems pretty real.

I bet she was just nervous.

Or high.

Anyway, sure the people are on the boards, its tough to be in the public eye, but that's the way it goes. You can't please everybody and also remember your seeing these people in the spot light, ok? You're all too jaded from seeing ads and commercials with all the beautiful people and can't handle reality and lash back at it. If you knew these people personally, saw them in their daily lives, you'd not think twice about it and definitely not give them crap for how they appear. Lighten up.

Alpha, lets see you in a video, hell, we're still waiting to see a pic of you. And playing that excuse of not doing it because it might get used in an *altered* image and posted to the boards is lame.

If I want to say something, even if it's negative or "indecent", I'm allowed.

I commented on this commercial because I think it's funny. Regardless of whether or not she was on something during the filming, that's the impression that she gives...and that's all we have to go on.

Quite frankly, people are way oversensitive these days and the politically correct movement has gone way too far. Why weren't you speaking up when the first round of ads came out and people were teasing those guys?

Don't get me started on that one. There was a thread just on this subject, though so we shouldn't get side tracked here.

Ellen's got her 15 minutes - it might actually last longer. And if she's on the boards, she probably won't come forward, and I don't blame her. But the ad is entertaining, regardless of what her mental state was, so that's it as far as I'm concerned.

I bet if she had told her instructor that her computer ate her paper, they would have given an extension. In the windblows world, they tend to do the worst things to people, at the worst time (for them). Mac's on the other hand, won't eat your paper, no matter how abusive you are to them.

Then again, I tell people to save often when they are working on files that are even mildly important. Saving every 5-10 minutes can save you a lot more then that if the computer decides to snak on your project. :D

Well that's just common sense, regardless of the computer you're working on. Hell, you could have a power failure and if its not a laptop with a battery or you have a ups - say goodbye to what ever you're working on. Also, applications can crash, or the system freeze up - macs, pcs, what ever you work on. I know its happened to me quite a few time before.

Two points:

First, a few earlier posts made sexual allusions to Ellen. She has done nothing to deserve that, and plus, imo, she may be quite a bit younger than some think, almost certainly a minor. That in particular is what went over the line.

Second, Rower, I fully support your RIGHT to say anything. Heck, I've even defended ole Alpha Bubba when he was venting. I am not referring here to RIGHTS, I am appealing to people's RESPONSIBILITIES as humans, especially as pertains to a child.

I have three daughters, ages 19, 11, 9. That's where I'm coming from.

Well, I totally understand your point, but we don't know if she is or isn't a minor - so until that's determined its kind of tough to force the moral agenda. But she is seen by some (not all, I know) as a rather cute and funny girl/woman - and in a male dominated site, its almost unreasonable to expect no comments. The nice thing is that we can come here and debate the issue and maybe change some people's outlooks to a better perspective.

And, for the record, it could be 15 year old boys doing the cat calling, so that takes care of the age issue. You have to remember that there are all types online. It would be nice to have one of the women come in here and give us their perspective.

that's an interesting point, one I'd like to discuss a little. Someone else mentioned that these ads wouldn't work in europe, can someone tell me what would work for a switch ad over the water?

EuroSwitchers:- Putting the task in some perspective

I am trying to imagine the converse used by M/Shifty

What would it take to persuade me to SWITCH TO WINDOWS?

Switch ads here could depict former PC users disposing of their Wintel Boxes in a variety of visually appealing ways:- by Dynamite/Dropped of a cliff/run through an auto crusher etc. etc.-) & should be stimulated by LARGE cash 'trade-ups'
Trite yes I know, but who are we trying to persuade here?

I do ads. It sound funny to see them on TV, also i don't think that this would be a nice ad in the US. Might be suite for this big time:))... but after this macworld i don't care as much anymore for macs as i used to.

that would be pretty damn funny, and not at all like the minimalistic approach of the white room used by apple. The best one so far is Will Ferrel's - a little comedic approach. I'm thinking you could even do that for a Euro-Switch - it just might take a few props.

Dukes afraid of hazard?
Minimal here reeks of pretension I fear! Thinks Bauhaus is a kennel
Will Ferrel's a totally unknown quantity over here... I only get SNL funnies c/o our friends@ Limewire........I'm Batman!!! Luv it!....Allow folk to curse on TV.... & ditch the guns!
Who can we get ?.....I wonder?
Billy Connelly?.......NO.. now reviled as a Royalist ass-kissing plagiarist.
John Cleese?........NO All this public-school botty-wacking whilst tirelessly nodding to academia exposed as just another old-boys BBC network.
Eddie Izzard?.... NO....to many plums in the gob, & switch him to WHAT?
George Michael?...... Maybe.....He is into controversial Vidz....Maybe...FROM W.C.to P.C. to PlasticMac?... Well maybe not
Some German comedian? VILE NOT VOUND!

My suggestion would be Bernard MANNING. Check this old goat out.......
REALLY not for the p/c faint hearted. Very intellectually challenging routine:
e.g.Man walks into fish & chip shop & asks for a fish tea........
Proprietor hands over the box of fish & chips
"Well' says the customer "are you sure this fish is properly cooked?"
"Why of course" says the proprietor, "Why do you ask?"
"Because it's eaten all the F*&%&@ chips"
This is where we find the bottom feeding potential switchers, just love a company without pomposity!

Whatever happened to originality @ Apple?
Oh......David Blane.....might be good?....seeing him louse-up solitaire on Windows
CAN I GET PAID FOR THIS STEVE?

ha, well, your names are just about as obscure as Will Ferrel to you, all I know is Cleese. But that's the thing, this is aimed at the American audience, the european versions would definitely have to be different.

It be fun to see them do it.

You have to check out Eddy Izzard. He's the funniest stand-up comedian alive.

Eddie IZ: Very true......but STILL the poor mans Bernard Manning.
I'm surprised that Billy Connelly is unfamiliar in the US
However after his fawning appearance on Letterman
I'm would'nt be surprised if he had sought accomodation with Bin Laden

When I first saw this ad I didn't think she looked high, and I still don't. I think she's cute. I'm 16. Sue me. :)

Well, that sort of makes it official - nothing wrong with a 16 year old talking about her that way.

Do you know anyone else who acts or resembles her who you know doesn't get high? We could all be off base here, but the impression is a strong one.

In terms of my rather distinctly obvious opinion that this young lady was HIGH. It takes one to know one.... that little chiquita was Bongqued beyond all recognition. This isn't the stereotypical BAD THING that brainwashed Reaganites assume it is. It's a REALLY GOOD THING in a couple of ways: 1. We see that Apple is willing to show people how they actually are, stoned or not. and: 2. We can see that Apple is putting out products you can use when you're so high you can;t complete a SINGLE sentence. :D :D :D

In terms of a "Cable only" or Euro Ad.....

I've made a game out of troubleshooting and doing new things on the Mac. I get together with a good geek-friend of mine and we pass the pipe for an hour or so, then we make a sort of drinking game out of figuring it out. We take turns trying things to get a particular effect. A flubbed approach or going to the manual/help menu requires a bonghit or terquila shot.:D It's amazing how infrequently I wind up too inebriated to function before getting things to work. Too lit to focus my eyes but it works now.....:D ;) :p

Forgot totally about Alan Partridge.....he is seriously askew, & a truly unique talent.
A successor to Spike Milligan in many ways.
Yes he would CERTAINLY do.

I've seen lots of people like that, and I know most of them probably don't get high. As it's been said before, the "high" effect could be nervousness or a cold or alergies or anything. But for all I know, maybe she was high. I'm not an expert.

She looks a little high. I think that the ad is hilarious.

She's also pretty hot. Nothing like hot chicks that like to catch one every once in a while. That is all right.
