I am interested in getting a 7200 RPM hard drive for a Mac Mini. Which brand is preferred by other users here - Western Digital or Seagate?

Thanks.

at the moment, going off current trends.. WD definitely for reliability (speed depends on a few other factors).

were you looking at 5400RPM drives or 7200rpm drives?

Everyone has their own opinion... I prefer WD but someone else can prefer Seagate.

True. I prefer Seagate as that is what is used in all of our servers, EMCs, and EVAs at work.

Me too - fan mostly running at a steady 1500rpm and hard disk at about 50 C.

I had the same decision to make a couple months ago and based on reviews (both pro and consumer) and opinions posted in forums, seems like a pretty even split--you'll always find opponents/proponents of both. FWIW, I settled on pair of 320 GB 7200 Seagates for my Macbook and Mini and couldn't be happier--run nice and quiet and cool. Either way you go, both are known to be good performers.

Just ordered the Seagate based on this review (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/mobile-hdd-notebook,2305-6.html).
