Post pics of your favourite iPod of all time ANY IPOD (NANO, SHUFFLE ETC) this is not limited to the regular ipod line!- don't forget your favourite colour too! :apple:
NOTE: This is different to the 'Post your ipod rig!' thread, this is about your FAVOURITE iPod and not necessarily the one you own! :D

Mine is the iPod 5g (Video) - My friend has one and it makes my Nano 4g look tiny and uncool :p

So what is yours? I will keep track of how many votes there are and post the top 3 every now and then

My favorite iPod is the 3rd gen. iPod. It was my first mp3 player and it still works like a charm though I hardly use it much now.

I received it as a Christmas gift from my mom. We went to the Apple store on Christmas Eve night to pick it up and I stayed up the entire night playing with it. One of the best gifts I ever received. :)

I bought it the second I read this article (http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2005/09/nano.ars/3) and its been taking beatings like a champ ever since.

The indestructable first-generation iPod nano:

Not quite indestructible in my case. Even though i didn't see it wedged under my stool, the moment I sat down and heard "Crack!" i knew exactly what i'd broken.:( I do love the 3rd Gen iPod though:cool:

3rd gen seems pretty popular! Shame they didn't revise it with a colour screen :(

Definitely the 5th generation iPod with video. Specifically in white and the slim 30gb model. I have the 5.5 gen, and have had it since it was released. I use it everyday because it's integrated in my car's stereo and it's still in mint condition. I don't plan to upgrade until it dies or I need more storage.

Yeah, the slim version was much better, and white was my colour of choice. I miss the plastic face! :(

5th Generation Nano. I love the little video camera and especially the radio which I use all the time.

This might be my favorite Ipod ever. Sure, it can't even hold a third of my music library today, but back when I had it, the 8GB it had was enough for a lot of variety at a time. Plus, it was the first Nano to feature games and video. And you can't forget about the adorable size :p

Still, I may personally love my 80GB Classic (my current Ipod) more, but I feel like I'm cheating if I bring up something so big.

I'd also have to say the 5th Generation iPod Video, I loved that thing. It was a very sad day when I sold it.

Wow how has no one said the 1st gen yet? Watching the video introducing this ipod when I was in 7th or 8th grade was what made me want to get one in the first place.

edit: although my first iPod was a 2nd gen. It the scroll wheel was touch! But it still had actual buttons around the edge :)

3rd Gen.

Runners up include the nano that was just updated (pre-camera) and the 5th gen video. My touch has been a bit of a letdown, maybe due to lack of storage. Kind of wish I'd gone a different direction with the free ipod rebate credit...

I have to say it is the iPod Classic 5th Generation Video, I absolutely love everything about it, external design, as well as internal interface, I think it is a million times better and nicer looking than the new iPod display (with CoverFlow and Reflections)

Too bad it has been discontinuated, I have had mine for more than 3 years now and I wish to buy a new one!

Cheers,
M

First generation! Although it's tied with the third generation for sure.

I got my first gen. back in 5th grade, still remains the best gadget I ever had.

Thanks for all the posts guys.

1st - iPod 3rd Generation (Touch buttons)
2nd - iPod 5th Generation (Video)
3rd - iPod Touch 2nd Generation

The iMac G4 (Lamp) is winning in the Mac version of this thread. The older apple designs were so iconic its been hard to improve on them in recent years! :apple:

Keep voting!

Initial wow factor - iPod 3G.
Best for media playback - 5.5G.
Most desired - 1 or 2G Nano.

I don't care for the metal look of the Classic or touchscreen controls for music. Has plenty of storage (for me at least) and a great battery (mines 3 years old but the battery still lasts a week of bedtime TV show watching and bus rides to/from work before needing a recharge.

I'm surprised to see the 5th gen getting so much love here. I thought I was the only one. :)

I have a 5th gen black 30GB, and I love it. I prefer this design to the current Classic design. My only gripe is the battery life. I've replaced the battery, but it still has terrible run time on video. I still love it, though, and use it a lot more than my 1st gen Touch.

I'm not a huge fan of the black one, I prefer white - but I totally agree. And the run time for video was pretty bad to begin with, it was the first iPod to do video so we have to let it off :p

You just put the iPod 5th generation Video in the lead! :D

I thought this thread would die by the end of the first page, so thanks for all the posts. I think I should stop posting randomness in my own thread though :p

5.5 g for sure. I have a white one thats hooked up to my car. The only thing that sucks is that i think since I always have it plugged in (unless im updating it with new songs) the battery is completely useless. If i dont have it plugged in to the power it will die in about an hour :( But its really no big deal since i pretty much never use my ipod outside of my car. I just hope itll always work plugged in atleast.

Definitely the iPod mini. I have five, I buy them broken off eBay and fix them up.

Right now, I'm using a green first gen (mini) with a new battery and 16GB CompactFlash card as my day-to-day iPod.

+1

purely as a music-player, this is my favorite iPod. Lightweight, comfortable to hold, good-sized click wheel...if only I could upgrade the storage to 32 or 64gb I'd use it forever!

It sure as hell is an ipod. I use it as one, there's an ipod application, and I can sync my music with itunes. Don't tell me it's not an ipod.

I believe the purpose of this thread is for devices where the iPod is their sole purpose, not a supplement. You could start a "What's your favourite iPhone?" thread if you desired, as that would solve the confusion.

Thanks, this is correct. Although the iPhone has an iPod function, this is specifically for iPods not any other device. Someone could make the thread suggested in the quote, as future iPhone models will be available.
