BumpTop 3D Desktop Released for Mac

Eww looks ugly and messes up your desktop. I'd hate to be using photoshop with all that stuff showing up on my desktop.

This bit just sounds wrong.

My only concern is that is it a resource hog? I've read several reviews but none of them mentioned it.

off topic but what app are you using to show the cpu and stuff on the menu bar.

That's iStat.

I thought that was a widget, it can go on the menu bar as well?

yep...though I am just happy with smc fan controller...much lighter...I dnt need the extensive istat monitoring anyways...

hmmm....not for me i guess....i keep my mac clean..from the outside as well as the inside..

This has some potential. I like it so far, but everything else (windows, apps, etc) seem out of place since they don't have the same viewing angle. If a web browser window looked like it was on the bumptop desktop, that would look very nice and fit in with the theme.

It was super fun to play with... for about 10 minutes. I can see that it has potential for people who work best with "organized chaos". I like having my files neatly tucked away under about 4 subfolders.

Not practical for me, but great for some.

It's actually called iStats Menus.

You can customize it as well. It's fantastic.


bumptop looks cool.... but I'm content with the way my desktop is.

cant manipulate files between the dock and bumptop=fail you cant even drag things to the trash which means everytime you want to trash, or unmount a disk you have to right click and do it through the menu...i prefer drag and drop

I agree. I installed it when it came out and soon reverted back. Not really sure what the point is exactly.

I completely agree. I tried this out and deleted it after one day. Visually, it's a train wreck. The perspective of your different desktop items is off and it was just an aesthetic mess. Plus, I'm not really sure how useful it is, at least for me personally. Then again, I don't keep a bunch of items on my desktop. Maybe if you had hundreds of items, the stacks and different walls would be useful. But, I just didn't like it very much.
