funny i don't see any flatscreen tv's in this monitor thread...See I'm saving up to buy a 42" full hd tv to use as a combined tv/computer screen..Although I haven't fully figured out what size (40", 42", 47" or 50") I should go with - I wanna be able to both watch movies at a distance of 3 meters AND be able to sit 1 meter from the screen working on video/photo's and music track editing without the resolution/pixelation being a problem...

Hence why I would like to see some pic's of you guys that actually have a setup like I explained above.. :)

IMHO, TVs make for lousy computer monitors. Even the highest resolution of say a 42"+ screen at 1080p is actually very low for a computer monitor. (For example, an actual 30" monitor has a resolution of 2560 x 1600, not 1920 x 1080.) At 47-50"+, the low-res effect at close proximity becomes even more pronounced. On many sets, there are also overscan issues to contend with.

It'd be great as a 'reference' monitor for video editing- to see exactly what content you're editing will look like on a screen its intended to be viewed on. But as an actual computer monitor with nice sharp detail for images and text? Meh.

I know it's already been commented, so I won't explain why, but that's going to look like crap. If you were buying it just to watch movies on, then okay, but working on that thing will be horrible. Save up and buy a 30" monitor, or settle for a 24".

Hope I don't hijack the thread, but since I know people are using flatscreen tv's a computer monitors, I'd like to see pic's...(haven't found any usefull images of setups like that, and since I'm gonna order online, testing it in stores would be a stretch...)

Anyway, so what would be the maximum size bearable as both a computer and tv screen, 32", 37" full hd ?

a 30" pc screen isn't more expensive than a 42" full hd tv I would just think the 30" would be too small to comfortably watch movies on from the couch...(but I do also care about resolution and being able to edit pictures and video and audio tracks without too much annoyance....but then again, I wóuld also have the 17" 1920x1200 for) so it's more a question of what would be a most comfortable compromise...

Yeah, it actually wouldn't be hard since the BT keyboards are the same as the macbook keyboards (I'm almost positive they are) but in that picture i think you can see the white kind of shining through the bottom of the skin.

I've been using the Samsung 2343BWX with my MacBook, I like the clean, simple design of it. It's a 23" with 2048x1152 resolution. Sadly both this Samsung and its Dell version have been discontinued, I bought it because it was higher res than the typical 23" with 1920x1080. I don't believe there are any more 23 inchers with my res on the market right now.

Now that I ordered a 27" iMac though, I'm moving this 23" to another computer and will use a 19" 1280x1024 Samsung with the iMac.
